Just made this today! Came out incredibly delicious. Cheers, Cap'n, thanks much for sharing this video :) PS: Off the Grid is AWESOME, I keep listening to 'The Ballad of Ranch Hand Robbie' over and over again.
@TheWolfiet received a suggestion, turns out it works well. Apparently using root beer makes for an interesting flavor as well... I need to write all this down.
Did you toast the bread as well? I couldn't tell, I saw some crisp pieces on it but sometimes different flavored bread like Poppy seads will have foriegn stuff on it, hahaha.
HUMONGOUS HIT WITH THE PARTY! I made a big roast, so there was plenty. Offered to take the crock pot and leftovers home, but the birthday boy wouldn't let me: "My birthday. My barbecue. I'll bring the pot over tomorrow after I wash it. Go away and do some magic tricks. Do the cups-and-ball-bearings on the street or something. Oh, and thanks for MY barbecue." Dang! No wonder Abney Park is the best. With food like that to look forward to, NOBODY misses band practice.
I've just cooked this up and am taking it to a friend's birthday party tonight. When people ask me who taught me to make it, I'm going to alternate between telling them " a rock star" and "a pirate captain." Soon, I'll be able to throw "a novelist" into the mix.
I think one of my favorite things about this band is how normal you guys are. Posting youtube videos and goofing around like everyone else it makes you guys seem very approachable.
I'm going to try that this weekend, but I'm going to try Dr. Pepper instead.

The most important part is it MUST BE FROM THE GLASS BOTTLE.
If not, you will anger the cola gods and they will smite your pulled pork.
Its true.

355 ML, but really its just "some coke", since you end up removing the meat from the broth.
