I too am a Tamani yehud... When I found out, it changed my life, and I too always felt also a connection with Yemen... Blessed of Hashem the Comforter of Yisrael. Hazaq l'atah
:) yemeni jewish people seem really kind..i see them and feel no difference...being a yemeni muslim..its amazing to see that, i only hope good for those yemeni jews in yemen :)
Hi I am a Muslim and an Arab.. the Jewsh of Yemen must stay, and must be at any time welcomed as a part of the Yemeni society.. Yemen is your homeland and you belong to the land where your fathers and grandfathers were born.
If so, were houses wired behind walls or were the cables exposed?
Did you see their sukka? Was their miqwei INSIDE their houses? Did they wear tefillin in the street on the way to synagogue? Did they wear Rabenu Tam, too? Did they wear talith as a garb? Do Jews speak a different language to each other as opposed to w/Arabs? What time do they go to sleep? Do they rise before sunrise?
Don't be full of hate yemenite jewish also arab jewish they love there arabic heritage and they dream to come back to the motherland yemen .they miss treated in israel ,the yemenite babys been kidnap it by the european jewish so they can give it to the ones who want to adopt children's .they know israel is mistake . arab jewish they been treated like 3rd class citizens.just to let you know they don't hate us because we cassin's.
Frankly, I've been discriminated from muslim arabs and European jews. My fathers and grand fathers kids were abducted when they arrived in israel. I know one thing my hertitage and identity. Yemenite .. and i i love my motherland yYemen
You and all your fellow Yemenite Jews are welcome in your homeland amongst us whenever you want. It is your home for thousands of years and no fanatic can change that.
Habibi ayuni...I inloved in your commentary...i can write in some islamist's chat...that israel will make all pals. out, ecc. that arab-muslims are assels...but it's only fals emotions. in reality I pray for one state, with common goverment, with real democracy and religious tollerance...and yani with, Jewish Tample, Al-Aks Mosque and Church on the Temple Mount...
this is my real dream...it's possible to realize in human intimate relations between the persons not important their religion...in allcase we are all sons of one God. And lot of palestinians from territories have Jewish roots...as lot of Christians or Muslims in the region. The God and the history will judge all of us bney adam(sons of adam) people(in ivrit ben adam- is man, human being...which all we are...Salamtak...Shalom
actually they hate the Zionist movement. Arab Jews were forced out of thier countries by the ashkenazi European Jews. The Israeli Population was very small but after middle easter and north african jews arrived it increased.
heh, your life wouldn't be at risk. Stay in Sana'a, Aden, Taizz and Ibb ... the major cities in the West of Yemen. Marib, Saada and Shibam are the dangerous areas. If you want to travel more extensively, there are tourist organizations that provide great tours and can guarantee your safety in the country side.
I live in Yemen 4 months out of the year and work in the USA. Go to Dhamar in Yemen. The jews have their market day there on wednesdays ... great for picking up temani souveneers.
I'm from a Muslim family. I had Jewish neighbors back in my village (Beni Muslim) growing up though and we were all brothers in those times in the early years of the Republic. Imam Ahmed (the old king) was cruel to all Yemenis and especially intollerant of the Jews but he was dead before I was born. Eventually most of the Jews in my village immigrated to Israel and my uncle now lives in the abandoned synagogue.
Ali Abdallah Saleh has protected the Jews remaining in the Yemen very well and ofcoarse Muslims and Jews have borrowed from each other culturaly in our country for over a millenia now. It's a joint heritage. That's why every Yemenite Jew in Israel still loves and misses their country.
"That's why every Yemenite Jew in Israel still loves and misses their country," "English must not be a language you can speak fluently because you obviously don't understand my posts."
Perhaps someone in the Yemeni Government could arrange for group visits to Yemen for Jews whose ancestors were from there? I'd love to go, too, but, like Priashka, have some concerns regarding safety. My father's father was also from Yemen. He grew up in Aden, but the family roots were in Ma'abar and perhaps Sana'a, from what I understand. Even though I'm also half-Ashkenazi, I'm also particularly fascinated by the Yemenite Jewish culture.
BTW, Priashka, are you familiar with Sagiv Cohen? He's an Israeli singer of Yemenite Jewish background who seems to be perpetuating the great artistic traditions that have been characteristic of the Yemenite Jews. Many of his videos can be found here on YouTube.
From the knowledge that I have on the topic, I believe that Sovnarkom is correct. Culturally speaking, the Jews and Muslims of Yemen were definitely interdependent peoples. Perhaps for this reason, I, myself, feel somewhat of a connection with the country and people of Yemen (in addition to my feeling of connection with other Semitic groups, including but not limited to the Jewish peoples).
To finish up my last comment, I do even find myself reading the Yemen Times from time to time, and certainly do wish for the country to prosper during this post-modern global era of transition.
Just to add to your comment, all ethnic Yemenis (i.e. native Yemenies not mixed with other races) are the decendants of the great Jewish king Solomon and the Yemenite Queen of Sheba, this is regardless of the religion.
Didn't Solomon (peace be upon him) send Israelite envoys to Yemen? Also, didn't many of the Jews flee to many other lands, including Yemen, during the two Diasporas? Therefore, wouldn't that mean that the Jews of Yemen are descendents of the original Israelites that dwelled in the lands of Canaan/Palestine?
Stairs lol. I've been there before. It's an impressive structure of a palace. Never have I ever beheld anything as magnificent as that of the Imam's Palace. It's an experience!
ُThe Yemenite Jews are an integral part and the base for the Yemeni culture; it's noteworthy to mention that the Yemeni Queen of Sheba got married to the Jewish King Solomon; this means that our father - irregardless of religion - is the Jewish King Solomon, which means that the Yemenis are Jews by race.... Interesting fact, don't you agree?
The only country in history, apart of ancient Israel and Judea, that was a Jewish kingdom for many centuries to follow is Yemen. Melek Tuba was the first Yemenite Himyarite Jewish King of Yemen, paving the way for his descendant Melek Yusuf Dhu Nawas as the last Yemenite Jewish King in the Himyarite succession. When the Christian Ethiopians came and attacked the Jewish kingdom of Yemen and forcing Dhu Nawas from the throne as he fought bravely through martyrdom.
Hey faudelz. Just wanted to clarify and add something to what you said. The Arab race in Yemen was there before prophet Sulaiman came along way since prophet Ismail (it's the original race of Yemen). However, when Queen of Sheba married prophet Sulaiman, the Yemenese that came from that descent became mixed with the Jewish race :-).
mmm my friend i dont agree...yes the queen of sheba who we muslims call "balqees" married the jewish prophet of god Sulayman no doubt ok??? but is balqees the mother of all yemenies exist today?? NO...she is only the mother of the descendants of solomon, and by saying what u said u are assuming that i am an israelite and also every qahtanite arab and the arabian peninsula!!!
Beautiful photos my Yemeni brother. Remember that Ibn Ezra left Tudela after it fell from the Arab hands in 1115Ad. The Christians then started persecuting the Muslims and Jews up in Tudela. that was 400years before the full blown inquisition. Never forget that most Temonis are true Yemeni Himyari converts! we are your people.
