Do Jews speak a different language to each other as opposed to w/Arabs? What time do they go to sleep? Do they rise before sunrise?

heh, your life wouldn't be at risk. Stay in Sana'a, Aden, Taizz and Ibb ... the major cities in the West of Yemen. Marib, Saada and Shibam are the dangerous areas. If you want to travel more extensively, there are tourist organizations that provide great tours and can guarantee your safety in the country side.

I live in Yemen 4 months out of the year and work in the USA. Go to Dhamar in Yemen. The jews have their market day there on wednesdays ... great for picking up temani souveneers.

I'm from a Muslim family. I had Jewish neighbors back in my village (Beni Muslim) growing up though and we were all brothers in those times in the early years of the Republic. Imam Ahmed (the old king) was cruel to all Yemenis and especially intollerant of the Jews but he was dead before I was born. Eventually most of the Jews in my village immigrated to Israel and my uncle now lives in the abandoned synagogue.

Ali Abdallah Saleh has protected the Jews remaining in the Yemen very well and ofcoarse Muslims and Jews have borrowed from each other culturaly in our country for over a millenia now. It's a joint heritage. That's why every Yemenite Jew in Israel still loves and misses their country.

Perhaps someone in the Yemeni Government could arrange for group visits to Yemen for Jews whose ancestors were from there? I'd love to go, too, but, like Priashka, have some concerns regarding safety. My father's father was also from Yemen. He grew up in Aden, but the family roots were in Ma'abar and perhaps Sana'a, from what I understand. Even though I'm also half-Ashkenazi, I'm also particularly fascinated by the Yemenite Jewish culture.

From the knowledge that I have on the topic, I believe that Sovnarkom is correct. Culturally speaking, the Jews and Muslims of Yemen were definitely interdependent peoples. Perhaps for this reason, I, myself, feel somewhat of a connection with the country and people of Yemen (in addition to my feeling of connection with other Semitic groups, including but not limited to the Jewish peoples).

Just to add to your comment, all ethnic Yemenis (i.e. native Yemenies not mixed with other races) are the decendants of the great Jewish king Solomon and the Yemenite Queen of Sheba, this is regardless of the religion.

Hey faudelz. Just wanted to clarify and add something to what you said. The Arab race in Yemen was there before prophet Sulaiman came along way since prophet Ismail (it's the original race of Yemen). However, when Queen of Sheba married prophet Sulaiman, the Yemenese that came from that descent became mixed with the Jewish race :-).

The Christians then started persecuting the Muslims and Jews up in Tudela. that was 400years before the full blown inquisition.
