im going to wait for windows 8 than upgrade the ram to 8gb, slap a second 500gb hard drive in it and she'll be golden. if not im going to upgrade her to an i7 but hopefully i won't have to. all the reviews on my model seem pretty good as for games i play minecraft lol so yeah graphics aren't gonna be a problem.
@xFightingFalcon really? damn. I though because they make the same model with the i7 in it it would work. does this mean there are two different mobos for the same model?
mine is nice. About a year old now got for christmas in 2010. So yeh. I use a regular mouse. I hate the mouse pad thingy. Not use to it. I like mine as well, because it comes with a BluRay player so I can watch movies 10 times beter then on TV! So yeah. It is nice.
I stupidly bought a HP DV7 Pavilion, win 7 professional; biggest load of rubbish EVER produced! Bluescreens and crashes daily. Only works reasonably if I use linux.
@mabhekaphansi I' watch for same moddel. So You are desapointed about this ? The one I see in offer , its HPDV7-6199SL Intel Core i7-2670QM/2.2 Ghz - RAM 8 GB Hard disk 640 GB SATA AMD Radeon HD 6770M/2 GB . Your it's same model ?
I got it a month ago dv7-6163us from staples. I got a very good price (just $699). This is a great laptop for watching movies and doing work. My 17.3" laptop isnt very heavy to carry and its great. Yes there is some low build quality i have never seen from HP but the price, fingerprint scanner, blu-ray drive and second gen i7 just makes this the best laptop for the price!!
Note : This not good for hard core gamers or for games having a really good detail because just the i7 isn't good enough :(
built quality fails please consider getting more solid and more "one piece" i guess is what im trying to say because laptops built from multiple parts are flimsy and they break so easily
On your computer u have a program called - Defragg, what it allows you to do is.. It packs everything in on your computer! :) It take som time, but then your PC will be fast again! :)
do you have that edge to edge glass screen? if you do, does dust go under it? do you have any problems with keys leaving their marks on the screen (it was a production flaw on earlier dv7's, keys sometimes left scratches and deformed the screen when lid closed)
which is why i bought one 2 days ago but mine has intel core i7, the latest not intel core quad. Mine doesnt have blue ray though because there was a smaller screen version with blue ray for the same price, but i like bigger screens so i bought my one instead. :)
just bought a DV7-1135NR on Craigslist for $360
- 250gb hard drive
- 4gigs ram
-AMD Turion II dual core
-ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
-vista 64 bit

@mactube37 You can't put an Intel CPU into an AMD CPU socket.

HP's always getting lousy drivers. HP, put backlit keyboards as an option again, and I'll buy another HP.

@jkirk1626 get an envy or another laptop. plenty of hp's have backlit keyboards.

@TOR1R
And doesn't show 2TB of HDD. And no BluRay on HP website.
I'm going for the 4050ed.
