Anything is possible. I'm sure there's no problem hacking the PS3 controller to use it with whatever transmitter you might have. Please bear in mind however that this hack was done by tapping into the analog voltages on the potentiometers in the controller.
How to you hack an Xbox 360 controller to do this?

@fokaikid87 Rewire the joysticks and buttons, bypassing the controller's own electronics.
