  • really wish they would have gotten George Michael instead of Paul Rodgers.

  • He is a damn fine looking man that is for sure! :)

  • George Michael is so sexy!!!! I love him and this performance!!!

  • this is great............................

  • i dont care if hes gay hes still a good looking man i couldlook at him all day

  • Omg... do you see how many people are in the crowd???? jeez... love this song... i grew up on queen. his voice comes soo close to the original it's crazy! just effin awesome! This video made my day!

  • George Michael nailed this song!!!!! Very good job!!! Freddie would be proud!!

  • George Michael did an incredible job. The only other singer I could imagine to even come close to Freddy is Jon Anderson from Yes, and thats it.

  • George Michael really did this song justice, not sure who else could've stepped up at the time.

  • best live george micheal has ever sung

  • If Queen wants a voice that compares to Freddies, it certainly is George Michael.. I mean there is only one Freddie Mercury... But, damn George is a close second with his voice...

  • 5 minutes of musical magic.

  • absolutely George Michael had the time of his life singig with Queen Gorgeous vocals..George doesn't miss a note!!

  • Seriously awesome!

  • Stupendous version!!!!!!!

  • George Michael is the only person who has ever made a decent cover of this song

  • He has a God given talent. Please get well, George!

  • That was a beautiful moment in rock history.

  • Amazing!

  • One of THE best YouTube videos out there, and certainly one of THE best all-time LIVE performances! I don't agree with the gay lifestyle at all, but George Michael is truly one AWESOME singer. He NAILED this song! The reaction on Brian May's face is priceless!

  • George did a beautiful job covering this song. Maybe it just me, but did that last high note sound like Freddie to anyone? George turns his back on the audience for that part, so maybe they put a little of Freddie into the mix.

  • This performance brought me to tears and I thank these wonderful people for putting such beautiful music into my life.

  • Im not much of a George Michael fan but he really did do a good job with this one.

  • No need to compare. The smile on Brian's face says it all. It's a tribute....and a darn good one at that.

  • @shetaz905 It can't be said any better!!

  • @linfinster Thanks!

  • Artist those days had studio quality performances while live, unfiltered, and unedited. Nowadays, popular artists can't sing live for shit. I was born in the wrong generation. Who else thinks so too?

  • George indeed rocked the hell of the song!!!!!!!

  • george is not trying to replace queen guis, he's singing this as a tribute -_-

  • Love Freddie, but I prefer George's voice. It's simply more beautiful. Freddie has the power and range, but George is sexier, voice-wise and person-wise.

  • My favorite Queen song of all time, and my favorite rendition!! Sorry Freddy! =D

  • George is no Freddie, but damn... good job.

  • Marc Martel can kiss George's ass

  • This is the best rendition I've ever heard without freddie. No one can top Freddie, but this is great!

  • Have never heard a redo that was better than the original. However, George Michael kicked this!!!

  • r.i.p you are missed Freddy Mercury

  • beautiful yes.....never will there be another miracle as freddie though...lik the comet that shows itself once every ten thousand years.......

  • Brian May's face at 4:02 says it all, what a beautiful tribute. I never was a fan of GM before I saw this live back in the day. This sent chills down my spine, and it still does! God bless freddie Mrecury, and may he rest in peace!

  • @KennysRadLife well said!!!

  • He has this audience totally mesmerized. What a performance--WOW!!! Seriously, it gives me chills!!! Turn it up and enjoy...

  • He chickened out on the Riff at the end, and threw the mic at the audience. Uh no, YOU'RE supposed to sing the difficult parts dude. Not the audience.

  • George Michael is most underrated singer ever! He can sing anything!

  • This trib. in 1992 was mag. GM carried all the excitement and 'edge' to make it one hot Freddie trib! Freddie would have been grooving to it. BTW..Try listening to George's, "A Different Corner". Melody, voice control, passion,..George does it perfectly. Freddie will always be greatest though, he just has more musical genious to work with.

  • This used to be my all time favourite Queen song, over & above the originals with Freddie... then Marc Martel loaded a video last month... and well it's pretty obvious my universe no longer makes sense!

  • omg new found respect for George Michael

  • Not bad but it's damn near impossible to come close to Freddie and his range. Freddie hit notes octaves apart effortlessly. Nice job to George but Freddie was a once in a lifetime singer

  • @krpt176 I'll tell you what though, this is the closest I've ever heard anyone come to matching the original vocals as far as the delivery and phrasing!

  • This is awesome. You homophobes should shut off your monitor when listening to a Queen song .Maybe then you can appreciate the music and not point fingers.Hmm?

  • talented homo

  • fags

  • awesome'''''

  • George Michael was fronting Queen.

For those comparing George to the Freddie Mercury impersonators, George was being himself while the impersonators were, well...impersonating.

    *shrug*

  • For those comparing this one to Marc Martel, George Michael had to drop it from the original key in order to reach the notes - and still didn't hit all of them. He's definitely a GREAT vocalist, but not near the range of Freddie or Martel.

  • can someone tell me where/ when/ what concert this was taken from? thanks

  • @oneirishpoet 20 April 1992 at London's old Wembley Stadium

  • I was never a George Michael fan, but if anyone was to take over Freddie's role, it shoulda been him.

  • Thumbs up if you came here because of DailyViral

  • 163 people are homo phobes

  • Wow, this cover is simply amazing! Hats off to you, George Michael!

  • george would neve replace freddie though

  • @swollproductions of course not but GM is an amazing talent

  • Freddie would have been proud of this concert.

  • One of the best live covers & performances ever.

  • Love this! Thanks for posting it! George did do an awesome job and like Freddy did, included the crowd!

  • We watched when they performed this live. Incredible. What a loving recognition of the talent and the spirit of Freddie.

  • I think out of all the tribute performances, this is the best

  • I think part of why George Michael does such a brilliant job is that he knows his career would not have existed without Freddie Mercury. So it's a really heart-felt tribute. I love both versions. The original and this one.

  • @jclairebrantley And why wouldn't his career have existed without Freddie exactly?

  • Wow. Nice job. Sorry to say it, but I believe he did this better than Freddy. Such a smooth voice & very well trained. :-)

  • You really can't appreciate this performance until you've watched all the other tributes from this concert. Then you can understand how George Michael captures the true essence of Mercury and rises above himself, almost "channels" Freddie as no one has ever done before. And the way he connects to the crowd is unlike anything any of the other performers came close to. This was truly a one-in-a-lifetime performance and George Michael deserves the highest respect for that. BRAVO!

  • @usernamevidio took the words right out of my mouth

  • george did a great job singing this song . i love you george.

  • GM did a terrific job singing this song. Every time I watch this video it just makes me say this dude can sing.

  • 3:50 is so epic:). Makes me smile every time see how Brian's expression looks after that.

  • @jdewing2 That would be a much better match. Paul Rogers just doesn't work at all.

  • my ears just came

  • This was unbelievable!!! What a voice!!! You go, George!!!!

  • This is amazing. To think that 20 yrs later, he's addicted to pot & it's ruining his voice. He's admitted to it, sadly. But said that it "fuels him creatively." A lot of good that'll do when your voice is trashed. Get it together George.

  • so much better than Paul freakin Rodgers!!!!

  • This wasn't just a cover of a classic Queen song; it is an homage to Freddie and Queen. Effin' brilliant!

  • still brings me to tears

  • Best remake of Somebody to love, please let there be a Queen + George Michael show in the future.

  • Man he nailed it. Good work mate.

  • The fans have proved how much they loved Freddie! This was awesome, I wish I had been there!

  • I think George really took this seriously and he was thrilled he hit those trademark high notes perfectly. He must have listened to this over and over to get it down so well. Well Done George, that is sheer respect from one Musician to Another.

  • I always thought Queen should reform with George Michael...or Robbie Williams...they both have incredible vocal ranges as Freddie did.

  • @PrettyPaul Agreed. I love Paul Rodgers, but his voice just doesn't fit Queen's music. While nobody could truly fill Freddie's shoes, George Michael is probably the best fit. He's certainly got the vocal range for it.

  • I would hardly call this a cover considering Queen-Freddy Mercury was also performing :P

  • Epic. No one can beat Freddy, but George was definitely channeling him on this day!

  • I dont know is it because both of them Flamboyant, but this is the Best cover of Freddie ever, Please Please George be Queen lead singer. I saw Paul Rogers, He is great but You did so Awesome

  • amazing!

  • George Michael should have been the permanent replacement for the late great Freddie Mercury. He sounds great and would've been perfect. Thanks for sharing this great video!!

  • @one2onefan yea it woulda been awesome but paul rogers is an awesome fit too

  • Most excellent, Mr. Michael. Most excellent.

  • Nobody, but nobody, could do a better job than George and Freddy at this!! Nobody at the tribute concert came anywhere near the job that George did!

  • Freddie would have been proud..

  • good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not freddie, but an incredible performance. In my opinion the best performance of the entire concert.

  • @hizevilcupcakequeen.... i so agree with that comment .....

  • I have watched this video lots of times, just incredible cover of one of the best songs ever recorded. Thank you George Michael for giving it 110% .. and thank you Freddie and Queen for music that will never die.

  • God rest Freddie Mercury and God bless George Michael. :)

  • So what that he is gay. His music is pure emotion, passion and powerful!!

  • Amazing!

  • can we say "Nailed It"!!!

  • I was never that big a fan of George Michael or Queen (other than the Flash Gordon soundtrack), but I must admit this is an incredible collaboration!

  • i know george sang his heart and soul out in tribute to his friend and our freddie!! i think freddie would have loved!!!

  • Splendid, awesome performance. Job well done!!!

  • Amazing. I wish Queen would take George Michael as their new lead singer

  • @jdewing2 HERE-HERE!

  • @jdewing2 I agree. He would have been so good.

  • @jdewing2 Agreed! Ive been saying that for YEARS!!!

  • Its like George Michael was possessed by Freddie Mercury. At least we know Freddie was smiling down on this performance. You can't top the ultimate showman, but this is about as close as you can get

  • Nailed it!

  • Absolutely unbelievable! Truly an inspired performance by George and Queen. Freddie must be very proud..!

  • george michaels should have been the front man after freddie's death. not paul rodgers

  • @kpgurl56 Agreed.

  • I sooooooo love this song Freddie 4 ever, Love George singing it as well

  • As of July 22, 2011, 161 people need somebody to love.

  • hands down...the BEST performance of a queen song sans Freddy EVER! I implore you to find a more perfectly executed version...

  • I don't care much for George Michael's stuff but this is an amazing cover. No one but Freddie Mercury could have done a better job, really.

    Well done!

  • That was magnificent, he tore this song up what an entertainer. He did Freddie and Queen justice my hat is off to you George. Great post.

  • George Michael is the only living man on Earth who can pull off this song. ...Pun not intended by writing "pull off" in the previous sentence. He is good.

  • People i know who don't even like George, give huge props to him covering this song.

  • Amazingly talented... love listening to anything he sings.

  • Yep...this is awesome.

  • Who could possibly dislike this......can you NOT hear!!!

  • Mad respect to George Michael for this performance. Considering the occasion, I think his was the best performance of all that night. A really moving moment with him performing one of Freddie's greatest creations.

  • Not a fan of GM, but if he sings like this in his other songs, I may have to buy his music. Simply put: Best cover of a QUEEN song EVER! I get chills listening to this song!! What a performance..stole the show! GM, you made Freddie proud!

  • GEORGE NAILED IT. IT WAS GEORGE'S VOICE BUT FREDDIE'S SPIRIT THAT MADE THAT PERFORMANCE COME ALIVE! LONG LIVE FREDDY MERCURY.

    I MISS HIM TOO.

  • He has an awesome voice!!!

  • Really no one can do a Queen cover and nail it, but George Micheal is the exception

  • I am not a fan off covers, but that was amazing! Very moving.

  • GM is wonderful! Couldn't have been better. But everyone knows the last of it was all Freddie. The reaction of Brian May showed that. It was all Freddie. But George did a spectacular performance. Freddie was smiling down on the event! You know it was all Freddie when George turned his back on the audience.

  • He sounds so much like Freddie! I love George Michael and Freddie Mercury!! <3

    R.I.P. Freddie!

  • This sends chills down my spine, you can hear Freddie when you close your eyes. I produce hip hop records and my girl loves queen and now I'm hooked too.

  • This was by far one of the best performances done ever....Freddie would have been smiling and proud of this one...

  • That was the balls.

  • I can't believe it if the members of Queen didn't have tears in their eyes at this performance. I have tears in my own... :')

  • @609Blondebomb They did! There is a close up of Brian May crying at one point. You can see it if you watch it in a better quality.

  • The look on Brians face 4:02 Priceless!!!

  • @preem7 "You wankers are flat!" ;)

  • @IeuanMorgannwg Elaborate!

  • Nobody will replace Freddie! But this is as close as it gets to a perfect cover!!!! Close your eyes! You can hear Freddie!!
