  • Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

  • what an amazing coincidence to discover..a canterbury tale is the inspiration and name of a dreadzone tune i wrote years ago and recently i wrote a new song called 'just let go' which samples this movement from gorecki..somehow you have put the two together.. today is the last day of living in this house after 17 years. canterbury tale was the first tune to be written here and just let go was the last..just thought i would let you know. this is amazing x thank you

  • @gregdread this is a great story you touched on. It is so interesting how different people interpret and are inspired by the same thing yet the results are even more different. If you have recorded any of these songs let me know, post them as a response, if you like, I should certainly like to hear them. In any case I shall check your site. Many thanks

  • "A Canterbury Tale" is wonderful, and the last twenty minutes or so are some of the greatest in British cinema. It has always seemed to me that Stanley Kubrick was influenced by the opening of the film: his 2001 jump-cut from caveman's bone to space-ship seems like an update of the jump-cut from falcon to Spitfire. What you have done with the film here is really beautiful, and the Gorecki is just right for that sense of 'epiphany'.

  • @GilesConradWatson You could have a point. I love that moment at the beginning when the falcon changes, too. It has been my favourite film since I first saw it, in 1989. Glad you found this vid.

  • This is so haunting and enthralling, beautifully put together Andrew.

  • @Nymphaie So glad you found this video. I appreciate your commenting, thanks so much

  • Ephiphany..17th Oct 1999 when I came minutes from dying of an overdose. I knew change had to take place

My 2nd 31st Dec 09 New Yrs Eve I stood in the cold cold breeze in my garden, at 12am unloved, unkissed saw my family members celebrating, embracing+I truly felt nothing..just complete emptiness ,looking at the black night sky punctuated by thousands of stars ..I counted 21 paper chinese lanterns lighting their path in unison towards the river mesmerised I felt so small,,change was imminent x

  • @MissPandora1967 Sometimes when we feel the most vulnerable is when we are most receptive to outside influences, the smallest of details take on a greater significance. You wrote of events 10 years ago, and that change was imminent. How have you fared and did change happen? Your incredibly honest and open comment made such a refreshing change. Thank you so much, Andrew (P.S. As an old Gong fan, including the Here and Now Band (if you know them) I like the wallpaper on your site!)

  • @andrewnorris2 Yes you are so correct when faced with crisis even the tiniest details found in nature are notice, become part of "our seminal moment"..my experience 10yrs ago taught me alot about me..a prog illness too has forced me to be honest,I'm not running away from ME anymore, my candidness can make others feel awkward,my nurse said "you remind them of their own mortality.. fragility of life"..never a truer word was said to me.. I hit 43 last week,am moving 400 m to start AGAIN,for me now X

  • @MissPandora1967 That is the hardest thing to stop running away from yourself, but acknowledging yourself to yourself is very liberating. Anais Nin said, 'Do not despair to reconcile yourself with your own image' I have always liked that. When we stop worrying about how we seem to others then we see ourselves for who we are. Where ever you are moving to don't move too far from yt. Keep well and inspired, and in touch, Andrew

  • Stopping by to see this again after having seen the film (thanks for introducing me to it!)

  • The mind and spirit are intertwined in a beautiful dance. Very lovely, Andrew.

  • @BigLoveZone Good of you to visit, I am always happy when you stop by

  • That is one of my Fav films too. I had mine on the top of an active volcanoe. Alone in St.Vincent. I went ahead of a Church outing and raced to the top. looking down into the Earth, with the wind pushing at me. The sheer scale of it. Then I knew there was something more., and how small and insignificant I really was.

  • @Toracube I can believe it, faced with the overwhelming scale, beauty and force of nature can be an emotional stirring experience. Thanks for sharing that moment with me here.

  • Full of awe and wonder!

  • @PoetLina yes, it is. Thanks for watching

  • gorgeous, amazing, I love this one

  • @ronpolla ...and the journey itself is worth making. I did it in 1991 and it took me 6 days

  • Very beautiful, thank you for drawing my attention to it. This is one of my all time favourite films.

  • @purdeyblackcat I know what you mean. Once seen this film sticks in the mind. I'm so glad you liked this. Thanks for visiting.

  • @andrewnorris1 and that it did made mine. isn't it nice how that works out? : )

  • Romantic...

  • @Poemsapennyeach .......or rather, Neo-Romantic.

  • Very beautiful Andrew.

  • @MrCatstail So glad you thought so. I am happy when you stop by.

  • Many thanks for the dedication Andrew and for so beautifully renewing your original film - it is now an epiphany in its own right. To be honest I had more or less forgotten my two original videos. More extraordinarily, I have been writing on this exact subject over the past week or so, which makes me think our minds are perhaps sometimes in sync! I can't think of anyone I'd rather be in sync with. A lovely and revealing film.

  • @brychar66 Thanks to you, Charles, for galvanizing me into action with this one.

  • Beautiful and wonderful video Andrew

  • @hermitwalker Good of you to stop by, I appreciate your visit

  • Lovely, Andrew!

  • @Iddybud Thank you, it is indeed a lovely film, if you know it.
