  • @alpiskom9 hi..... hi.......

  • dear Author. not Kirov, but Mariinsky

  • @iboprivat

Dear iboprivat, Mariinsky is the same thing as Kirov

  • @penpnyom Dear author, may be for you its the same thing, for man who knows history - Kirov is a Soviet torturer

  • @iboprivat For woman who knows history Kirov and Mariinsky are the same thing. I don´t care how many Kirovs you say were torturers-Russia so big, so many Kirovs...

That does not change this fact: Kirov=Mariinsky. What was the name during Nureyev´s years there as a ballet student?

Go to the library all over again before being so opinionated, or get a better teacher!

  • On dirait que notre ami Valery a un peu trop exaggéré avec la vodka avant le concert, lol.

Non!!!, je blague, il est génial ce chef, l'un de mes préférés avec Daniel Barenboïm.

  • Beautiful playing by the soloist. This is one of the reasons I love this piece

  • best conductor ever!!

  • Thumb up if you're here because of Reznov.

  • WHERE I S THE TAM-TAM STROKE CON TUTTA FORZA,WHY THE PLAYER IS THE WOMEN,GREAT CYMBALS PLAYER, BUT THIS TAMTAM STROKE WAS VERY IMPORTANT...

  • Where the hell is the famous part?????

  • @boshiak try with the solo 2:31 ;)

  • Good! Try to look at integral version Sheherazade with Gimnazija Kranj Sypmhony Orchestra. Far better presentation and interpretation with young kids.

  • Magnific orchestra and conductor.

    Perfect.

  • So sweeping, love this. I have heard this music so many times but I STILL love it.

  • 2:32 amazing....

  • this makes me cry too

  • Lovely performance, the orchestratiion is awsome. Gergiev alway's looks like he has just fell out of bed. A character and must be in the top ten of conductors today.

  • I am now aware that there is a cymbol player in this orchestra.

  • This piece of classical music is one of the finest awesome piece. The good old fellow Rimsky had composed truely wonderful. My orchester plays this in december 2010 in Cologne. Come all to celebrate this piece.

  • ... and thank you for posting this! It's truely wonderful!

  • I LOVE the chromatic scales in Violin II at 0:33... just brilliant orchestration and musical imagery!

  • love that solo it sounds so lonely

  • This conductor has some hair issues!

  • @LLJtbone His comb over fell over! LOL

  • @itsmegp46 He looks a bit like Wolverine from Xmen! How about the cymbal player. Muy serioso!!

  • what is this piece called?

  • espectacular!

  • espectacular!

  • Спасибо !!!!!!!

  • I prefer this one Rimsky-Korsakov "Sheherazade" (Celibidache, SWR Stuttgart) 5/5

  • why at this tempo its alittle slow for me...

  • Which hall is this? Tchaikovsky?

  • @jagatinho it's the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory of Music

  • @azntanan : Thank you.

  • So powerful! Thank you

Maestro! ... and I agree with all of you, this is not conducting, this is - making reality from the essence of composer's idea" - a "living" music!

  • Way to go Sergey! You are my very good friend, but even though I don't understand a word you say to me, I love the way you conducted this one of my favorite songs.

  • The orchestration is powerful, overpowerful

  • Comment removed

  • the violin solo is amazing....hits the heart !

  • perfekto

  • Une des meilleure interprétation de Sherazade que j'ai entendue, à la fois puissante et fine.

  • fantastic!!!

  • Yeah good music

  • why not just listen to beautiful music instead of making yourself tired on somebody who will never learn anyway.

  • this is amazing! I really enjoyed the conducting, the solo, the orchestra! It was all great!

  • abviolinplayer: yes!!! Can't agree more, hate hate hate clumsy audiences clapping about everything and for everything as if it were a football game.

But you know, --this is too, part of the director's job by mainly two means, it's influence in the orchestra attitude towards him and how it is reflected against the audience and the very attitude of the director during the performance. Well done, good.

    Oblivion1music: lol!

  • I like how the audience actually waits a few seconds before clapping so the sounds can resonate and you can just let the music sink in...I HATE when audiences start clapping the second the music stops -_-

  • It becouse on this place music lasts longer, then plays, i think.

  • this solo always make me cry

  • @macalacaluca yes yes really appealing the perfect suite...Sheherazade...sultan...jzpatelut.....

  • Also if you look at 5:21 - dont you think the conductor looks a bit like wolverine?

  • I agree with shrinandan, gergievs' conducting is beautiful. But most of all, i love his comb over :D

  • Pls forgive those who doesn't know the real meaning of conducting (it's not about giving cues, please!!)

  • I agree with S4ando. Valery Gergiev's conducting is colorful, passionate and unique. His rendition gives me the chills. moelove2008, who is still in high school, is an arrogant, self aggrandizing, moron. He, or she, has along ways to go before he (or she) can declare himself (or herself) better than Gergiev.

  • lol nobody will listen to you if you call the Scheherazade a "song".

I'm sorry that Gergiev doesn't conduct like a high school drum major moron, with the "wiping window" style.

His conducting could be termed horrible if it were used to teach a bunch of teenagers how to finger each note, and how to count triplets. but when it's conducting the LSO, it's just fine.

And yes, he is drunk, with music.

  • yeah the song, I see a lot of singers... and wow you are still in highschool and conduct better than him? Why haven´t I seen you in the international press??? You must be a virtuoso or something greater... where are your videos with the world most famous orchestras??

OHHHHHHH ITS ALL IN YOUR MIND KID!!!

Grow up and open your senses....

  • Can't hear the gong when the ship hits the rock, don't like that...

Check Rostropovich and the Orchestre de Paris, definitive.

  • as my band director would say...

YOUR ARCS ARENT STRAIGHT!! FIX YOUR ARCS, LETS GO!!!

sorry, i had to say it... dont mind me lol.

  • lookit that conducting... not saying anything bad about it but, wow...

    thats different

  • The sadest violin I´ve ever heard!

  • ... everyone keeps bashing Gergiev and his conducting... its exquisite... and unique. Shut up

  • how did he come out with this beautiful melody?!!

  • Fabulous

  • I loooove Gergiev! Always!

  • Beautiful conducting!!

  • I don't like his conducting. I've heard of really emotional conductors, but he takes it to a new level. Wonderful piece though.

  • Do buy a clue. For your sake as much as ours...

  • agreed

  • his conducting is fucking aweful

  • What Movement is this?

  • che interpretazione, solo un direttore russo puo' riproporre korsakov in questo modo.

  • Perchè ?

  • hahaha ok the blue neon light that's an arc around the stage bothers the shit out of me!!!!!!!!!! and sometimes these videos of concerts don't seem like they were live when a person took a video. haha.

but other than that, extremely good.

  • bellissima ,che emozioni

  • "Sinbad's ship goes to pieces on a rock surmounted by a bronze warrior". Fantastic music and orchestra. Would have liked to hear the gong a little more, it's a highlight of this movement.

  • I love this part. A huge wave of sound. This has to be totally amazing to play.

  • it is, I love it dearly

  • Gergiev is such an incredible character

  • ma chi è il direttore Celentano? ahahahahaha

  • E aspetta di sentire la sua interpretazione del poema sinfonico "Il ragazzo della via Gluck"

  • DUDE TALK TO TERRY WOGAN.

  • I am still waiting to be impressed by Gergiev.

  • Hahaha, you're pathetic.

He's one of the best living conductors.

  • Your rude use of the word pathetic is noted. Gergiev I hear on radio and watch on tv. Listening "blind" I find not much to impress but this is personal. As a commentator on music and such he is both interestingn and often pinpoints problems with acuity. But his production on the podium still fails to touch me. I shall stick with the other non-baton conductor Stokowski. But, again, that's personal to me, I would not presume to press my claims on to you.

  • I have commented elsewhere that the level of discourse on youtube tends towards infantile and moronic. freedomtimeisnow is just another of too many examples.

Much as I hate to do it, though, I do agree with him in that I think this performance is quite beautiful, very well paced, marvelous orchestra. Having said that, I will agree with you in that I've heard things from Gergiev that I thought weren't good -- e.g., his frantic Sacre du Printemps (probably in search of this trademark excitement).

  • che bello,un interpretazione cosi' non la sentivo dai tempi di karajan

  • I admire him so much! He is our hero!

    Iraettae razhmae!

  • WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He is my countrymen. The best.

  • What movement is this? I know it sounds like the first movement but those cymbals and those rhythms dont go in the first..

  • i think the 4th mvt.

  • 4th

  • end of the 4th

  • dirijer tak dergaetsya, kak-budto prikalivaetsya

  • sensational!!!

  • The best interpretation. Gergiev is the master of this repertoire

  • Good!

    What a weird condoctor! :D

  • I love Sheherazade, when I was in high school we played this my junior year for marching band.

  • Wow!! I had no idea that Moscow had such a GREAT Orchestra!:) This piece sounded divine!

  • No Moscow,but S. Petersburg...

  • I like the piece, and we perforemed it at a concert and contest, but I feel sorry for the Director. He probably gets a lot of static for his hair.

  • It looks like he gets a lot of static *in* his hair.

  • Lol

  • What fantastic writing, what fantastic orchestra, what fantastic maestro and what fantastic Concertmaster!

  • I do not think he qiute caught the magic in Sheherazade this time our Gergiev.

  • Are you insane? This is the most perfect piece of music ever composed.

  • Phantasmic, mostly because I'm the first to comment...yup
