@iboprivat For woman who knows history Kirov and Mariinsky are the same thing. I don´t care how many Kirovs you say were torturers-Russia so big, so many Kirovs...
That does not change this fact: Kirov=Mariinsky. What was the name during Nureyev´s years there as a ballet student?
Go to the library all over again before being so opinionated, or get a better teacher!
WHERE I S THE TAM-TAM STROKE CON TUTTA FORZA,WHY THE PLAYER IS THE WOMEN,GREAT CYMBALS PLAYER, BUT THIS TAMTAM STROKE WAS VERY IMPORTANT...no women on the percussion!
Lovely performance, the orchestratiion is awsome. Gergiev alway's looks like he has just fell out of bed. A character and must be in the top ten of conductors today.
This piece of classical music is one of the finest awesome piece. The good old fellow Rimsky had composed truely wonderful. My orchester plays this in december 2010 in Cologne. Come all to celebrate this piece.
Way to go Sergey! You are my very good friend, but even though I don't understand a word you say to me, I love the way you conducted this one of my favorite songs.
abviolinplayer: yes!!! Can't agree more, hate hate hate clumsy audiences clapping about everything and for everything as if it were a football game.
But you know, --this is too, part of the director's job by mainly two means, it's influence in the orchestra attitude towards him and how it is reflected against the audience and the very attitude of the director during the performance. Well done, good.
I like how the audience actually waits a few seconds before clapping so the sounds can resonate and you can just let the music sink in...I HATE when audiences start clapping the second the music stops -_-
I agree with S4ando. Valery Gergiev's conducting is colorful, passionate and unique. His rendition gives me the chills. moelove2008, who is still in high school, is an arrogant, self aggrandizing, moron. He, or she, has along ways to go before he (or she) can declare himself (or herself) better than Gergiev.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
umm......sorry to bust your bubble S4ando. but that conducting is horrible i conduct better then that and im not even out of high school yet. he looks as if he were drunk and there is nothing good about that. and there is nothing unique about that. but the solo was really good. i liked the swaying of the vibrato that was used and it fitted perfectly to the song.
lol nobody will listen to you if you call the Scheherazade a "song".
I'm sorry that Gergiev doesn't conduct like a high school drum major moron, with the "wiping window" style.
His conducting could be termed horrible if it were used to teach a bunch of teenagers how to finger each note, and how to count triplets. but when it's conducting the LSO, it's just fine.
yeah the song, I see a lot of singers... and wow you are still in highschool and conduct better than him? Why haven´t I seen you in the international press??? You must be a virtuoso or something greater... where are your videos with the world most famous orchestras??
hahaha ok the blue neon light that's an arc around the stage bothers the shit out of me!!!!!!!!!! and sometimes these videos of concerts don't seem like they were live when a person took a video. haha.
"Sinbad's ship goes to pieces on a rock surmounted by a bronze warrior". Fantastic music and orchestra. Would have liked to hear the gong a little more, it's a highlight of this movement.
Your rude use of the word pathetic is noted. Gergiev I hear on radio and watch on tv. Listening "blind" I find not much to impress but this is personal. As a commentator on music and such he is both interestingn and often pinpoints problems with acuity. But his production on the podium still fails to touch me. I shall stick with the other non-baton conductor Stokowski. But, again, that's personal to me, I would not presume to press my claims on to you.
I have commented elsewhere that the level of discourse on youtube tends towards infantile and moronic. freedomtimeisnow is just another of too many examples.
Much as I hate to do it, though, I do agree with him in that I think this performance is quite beautiful, very well paced, marvelous orchestra. Having said that, I will agree with you in that I've heard things from Gergiev that I thought weren't good -- e.g., his frantic Sacre du Printemps (probably in search of this trademark excitement).
I absolutely love Levitin. stellar conductor, orchestra and soloist!!
