Come on...this song fails in comparison with anything mbv have ever done. It's a nice track but it doesnt sound like something kevin would write. And that beginning bit sounds like something off of a super mario game. It's melodically not strong enough to be an mbv song. Not bad though.
@MrComingtogetyouable naw, not enough math rockishness in there, its too poppy, really, not enough angular sonic youthism. Wow the guitars do sound MBV, they got that pretty dialed. The vocals dont sound like Belinda at all to me, honestly. The poppy drums kinda suck tho, which is why I think Soon was one of their weakest tracks. At least Swirlies were kinda original about their music, not just a copy of MBV or the like. (They're more similar to Isnt Anything anyway than Loveless)
superchunk321 is quite correct. It's a pretty blatant 'Soon' ripoff by Crash City Saints - ( watch?v=Wi8iA-eZvsU )-Still quite good though but people who think this and the other fake mbv demos are real don't appear to be fully appreciating what it is that mbv do.
There's far too much going on - sounds cluttered. Loveless actually sounds very minimal as Kevin never actually used to layer that many different sounds.
That's definitely a MBV ripoff and definitely not Kevin Shields,, I Agree it sounds like it could be Kurt Heasley thought. Not a terrible song though...
THIS IS NOT MBV - IT'S SOME EFFECTS PEDAL-LADEN TRICKSTER TRYING TO PULL THE WOOL OVER OUR WELL TRAINED EARS. DON'T BE FOOLED. KEVIN WOULD NEVER PRODUCE SOMETHING AS BLATANT AS THIS. COME ON, GET REAL! THE UNRELEASED MATERIAL THAT WILL SOON EMERGE WILL BE NOTHING LIKE THIS.
I son't think it's MBV, but I love it. It sounds like MBV mixed with a bit of The Cure. Who ever did this has a deep understanding of MBV but the vocals, and use of the trem arm/chords sounds different to me. I love the layering of sounds. Great song!
@robfisher1 - I do now think this is MBV. I would guess an early version of soon as is v similar. Has elements of their 1989 track Sugar also which also finishes with a 1 minute + fade out,. Bigger sound on this track though and has a v upbeat, optimistic feel to it. I will say it again - I think its brilliant! Big shame it wasn't released. Thank you for posting.
@robfisher1 - listening to again, sounds v like a cross between soon and to here knows when. I really like it. Does sound similar to Belinda from about 3.10. Up to then sounds like male vocals and not similar enough to Kevin for me. Could be wrong. Surprised no-one has identified yet. Where did you come across? Becoming semi-convinced now. Great track.
@Boominor9 - it got posted on this old music forum years ago (its since been shut down due to inactivity), the guy who posted it claimed to be one of the sound engineers who worked with them but this could be a set of complete lies for all we know. Still, the sound is there. Hmm.

This isn't Crash City Saints (they're "noisier" and more "unrefined", but I love them all the same).
Whatever band this is, LET US KNOW! Whoever they are, I'll buy it!

I doubt this is MBV.For one thing Kevin despises chorus effects on guitar. This has a chorus effect in it.He has never used it before, why on this?
