What is remarkable is how unviolent the Palestinians were for so long! There was no retaliation at all against the invaders, just protests and passive resistance. Their land was seized, they were ethnically cleansed and driven into these enclaves, Gaza and the West Bank. Then even these enclaves were occupied. Only then do some Palestinians fight back. In 1987 they refused to cooperate, tore up their identity cards and sat down. The Israeli army went in and beat the shit out of them.
