After School in Vihiga (kenya) I made sure I grabbed our then small National Panasonic radio red in color tuned into SW radio Kigali between hrs 4-6pm then left with it in my armpit to go and graze the cows. Then we would stage some fire on one of those huge maragoli rocks and eat roasted maize while the music ceaselessly came across.
Sometimes I would place the radio speaker-side down on to a clay-made pot to amplify the bass. My late mom did not fancy it coz the pot would break down.
Lovely song by Nyboma. Reminds me of Uganda during the time of Wakombozi following the fall of Amin. A friend of mine loaned me his Fiat Mirafiori and I was spinning around in it in Gulu with this song in the cassette. Good days music wise.
This song reminds of my days at Maranda High School in Bondo. My great friend Eliud Madaga was great at singing this song and others done by Lipua Lipua. Oh! The good old days. Oh my days as a teenage were accomplished by such great music. Am I mistaken to say that that those were the golden days of African music? The Congolese were just creative, to say the least! I long for the days when we shall make music of such quality again. Thanks for the posting. Kajienjoyi!
@hochwada HAA NDUGU WANGU!! THOSE WERE DAYS WHEN WE HAD ONLY 1000 DEATHS AYEAR!! SORRY BUT HOW ABOUT THESE DAYS!!!!-OUT OF CAR ACCIDENTS IN KENYA AND UGANDA!! BUT LOOK AT THE STATISTICS NOW-OVER 10,000 CAR ACCIDENTS A YEAR THESE DAYS!! HOOOO MATATUS!!
@hochwada Oh Man this was the days when I was in Boroboro Senior Secondary School, Lira, Uganda. I was in my final year S6. Kekere Night Club was the pub.
Nice music from Nyboma. Thanks to Vercky for giving the opportunity to this young man (Nyboma) from nowhere in the seventies to establish himself as one of the best singer in the Kongolese's music. We need someone to write about Afrikan music and Kongolese in particular, if not our children will not know anything about it...
Bwana Keino I like your music collection. Would you please find a song I remember the words but not the one who sung. Some of the words are ' Queya saa ni saa sita Queya uko wapi.
Matondi mingi Wakatunga. Ya solo yo ozali na nzembo ndenge na ndenge, moko na moka ya kokamwisa. Nasepeli mingi na motema na ngai mpo na koyoka nzembo wana.
Ni muvea muno Wakatunga. Niw'o ki we wina mbathi sya mithemba na mithemba, kila umwe wa useng'ya. Ninatana muno ngooni yakwa nundu wa kwiw'a wathi uu.

This is definitely Nyboma's most beautiful rendition of a song. Those vocals are amazing.
