  • Glad to hear he didn't butcher it as bad as he has with some of the others.

  • binq20101..agree with ya!! i prefer jason!

  • revzer32..you right dude!! gogo jason scheff!

  • Jason Scheff is great... i love his style better than Cetera

  • Such a sexy song!!

  • Thanks Snakeboy! He is awesome!!!

  • One of my favorites songs of all times. I really like it better sung by Peter Cetera but I think Jason Scheff does a great interpretation.

  • Who is this guitar player?? He is really smooth.

  • @llsartist1 the guitar player is Dawayne Bailey

  • This a great version, and his voice is so clear and pure. Just love it!!!!!

  • Time Out! I thought something was weird about this vid--Not Peter Cetera! But this guy does an okay job--Still love the original somewhat more, though.

  • Always have loved Chicago, since the 70's, but I think this is one of my favorite Chicago tunes--"Happy Man"--The ultimate of Love Songs. . .

  • this is the best line up since Kath's death, Long Live Chicago.

  • i hate to keep dissing on the 'new' Chicago. and i know they have to reprise songs associated with past band members. but this was never a big hit, there is no compelling reason to do it. and it's one of the few (very few) songs in the Chicago catalogue that is singularly a Cetera song. so, let it be. let jason sing his awlful 'bigger than elvis' and all that other crap but leave this one alone.

  • @scribbled309 it may not have been a big "hit", but its a great song, there's a difference

  • I hope Justin covers this song.

  • Normally Scheff sounds like a cat in heat, so I was bracing myself for the worst - In all fairness he's does a respectable job in this performance.

  • There are too many mullets in this band. What year is this? Mullets are just wrong!

  • Me encanta esta canción! Compré hace mas de 30 años este disco doble en vinilo y fué mi segundo disco ahorrando peso por peso. El primero fué So vane de Carly Simon.1975 o 1976.

  • Ridículo! Ridiculous!

  • Real nice to see a video where Jason isn't ruining the song with his oversinging. Don't know what happened to him over the years.

  • This is a great version of Happy Man. All you Cetera fans who knock this version are out of it. But you all can take comfort in the knowledge that Peter was no worse than their third best lead vocalist when he was with the band.

  • First of all this is a cetera song not a Chicago song. They're having to take his solos and use them. What a joke.

  • @Teddyusmc13 - Respectfully, "Happy Man" is Chicago, albiet with Pete on vocals - a fantastic song from 1974's Chicago VII. I agree, however, I would much rather see Pete up there ripping the vocals on this classic - but he quit the band. Jason does the song justice, that being said. :)

  • nice voice, nice body, handsome...whatelse........

  • This guy is pathetic. Singing through his nose. Cetera has got to be on floor laughing after hearing this !

  • axl rose on guitar?

  • The jazzy guitar and scatting at the end-- stupendous.

  • Sing your own songs...Bitch! Wait, you don't have any!

  • music during our high school days

  • @marikinaboy1 showing your age......but it brings back damn good memories..

  • The singer sounds a good deal like Peter Cetera /does a good imitation, you can see why they chose him.

  • I'm certainly not a "happy man" listening to this butchering of a great song !!!

  • "Happy Man" is Peter Cetera

  • JASON at his best .Not trying to be an exact clone of Cetera. quite nice.

  • amo chicago,,,Brasil..

  • amo chicago,,,Brasil..

  • you know whats funny about making fun of people singing? They are in the band and have a nice living from the very people that make fun of them. Keep buying the music, going to the concerts. I'm sure they love you!

  • No where near Cetera. They shouldn't even have tried this.

  • I was not watching this for the 1st minute or so and wonder why it sounded like SHIT and how could Cetera be so off,THEN I saw it is not Cetera

  • he really sounds like the original singers..

  • i want this played at my wedding it's a beautiful ballad and really speaks to my heart and character

  • Wow! Jason DIDN'T suck on that. I was

    impressed with his intonation.

  • not bad....

  • Oh my God... what a little cutie! I am falling in love with him!

BYE.

  • Quem é este cidadão?

  • This is not a "new guy" as he has been with Chicago for 24 years. Cetera left and thankfully someone was able to step into his place so that we can continue to enjoy Chicago. People need to let go of Pete Cetera. He should have stayed with the band because he has somewhat fizzled on his own. I love Pete, though. Great voice, both of them.

  • no way, nobody like peter

the guy makes an effort. chicago is chicago with ot without peter. but some songs are not ment to be sung by others, he he

  • im falling inlove with you

  • Me gustan lo dos cantantes Peter y Jason are wonderful.

  • nothing close to peter...you karoke compared to the man, peter cetera

  • I am a happy man because of you lis

  • jason scheff so hot

  • I am impressed. The original was sung by Peter Cetera...this new guy...I don't know the guy...but he has done justice to the song. Brilliant!

  • you don't know jason? he's been there longer than cetera lmao

  • this is simply one of my fave chicago songs!

  • They were rated very high because of their percussions. Your right it was quite sometime ago. Music has and always will be whats gotten me though life at least thus-far.

  • My first concert I was 15 yrs of age and Chicago was it! Awsome then and Awsome Now, FYI: that was 1971.

  • sometime ago

  • Scheff´s the best

  • If anything, Cetera fans should be mad at him for leaving, because they're still selling more tickets than Peter's solo act lol. I just find it funny that people hate Scheff for him being successful with the band.

  • Peter Cetera did become a successful solo artist.

But I don't think he was as successful as he was as a member of Chicago.

  • But the only problem for Cetera is that the album he released right after leaving the band was his only mainstream success. The others did okay on the AC charts but his solo career was succesful for only so long.

My comment was just saying that the band Chicago is on a much more successful streak than Cetera and his solo band. Alot of people are mad about that.

  • Thats what I meant.

Cetera was more successful as a member of Chicago.

  • ...thats the idea lol

  • Homem Feliz Rapidamente Sem que eu desconfiasse Você aprisionou meu coração E me protegeu Agora eu estou me apaixonando por você Justo quando pensei Estar livre e desempedido-você veio a mim suave e calmamente Agora eu estou me apaixonando por você Me apaixonando por você E pela primeira vez na minha vida Eu sei o que é ser: Um homem feliz .......... sem palavras!
  • Out of all the times I have seen Chicago- they have only played this once...too bad..it's a great song--

  • Jeez, just appreciate the gig the way it is. They are still class musicians. No its not the true Chicago.

Don't knock Bill. He's been around and has paid his dues. When this song was originally released they even had new members. I don't remember anyone knocking Donnie Dacus when he played guitar, and the guy could play. No it was not Kath - but a new sound. This is a new sound.

  • Great song!!!! Never got much airplay.

  • i'm from Brazil and love this music many years ago... love wonderfull music....tha i hear when young. Imagine my boy friend in this music.....

  • I agree dude, too bad they still try to be Chicago without Kath, Seraphine, or Cetera...can't do it, no way. Tris Imboden is a commercial scrub drummer. F him.

  • Actually, when I saw them two years ago, Lee Loughnane was singing it. It was quite good!

  • I also saw Lee singing this tune like five years ago along with Tris playing the bongos. It was an acoustic version which I found awesome...

Actually that was the version that I was looking for this time...

  • the sound is by his diction stinks he got that strong accent from some foreign country.

    cetera rules!

  • bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

  • Simple... they don't ask Pete to come back because Pete SUCKS!!!

  • Agreed. Peter without Chicago sucks, Chicago does not need Cetera in order for them to shine...

I'm not saying that I like all the new guys, I'm just saying that Cetera sucks without them, not the other way around.

IMHO, the only "new" guy that I think has good musician skills is Keith... all the other new guys suck, specially Mr. Champlin.

  • we cannot compare jason with peter or peter with jason, coz their two different man. it's not proper to say one is better than another, the thing is they sing the song whole heartedly and we sing together with their song in the same time.

  • actually a very nice version. didnt think they would pull it off but they did.

    very nice.

  • great...what a cutie!

  • aww this is my parents wedding song <3333

    still together after 25 years

  • Sounds kinda like Christopher Cross.

  • This song still sends chills (good chills) down my body

  • Comment removed

  • He's a great guy. Very understanding of others.

  • ok, i admit it. this isn't as bad as i thought it would be. Jason is sharp in places, and he ain't Peter, but this is actually okay. But please lose the tank top!

  • I'm a cetera fan.. ok he's the original guy... but what do u want the band to do... stop the music becoz cetera don't want to do it anymore??? jason scheff has his own style...just give a credit to him also...

  • @reyzer32 cash.. no credit..

  • This is so embarrassing with Scheff--I am not a huge Cetera fan but this is his song--stop doing it without him--stop being a Vegas lounge act--grow up--get a life.

  • stop comparing peter cetera and jason scheff they are both unique in their own way. =)

  • no where near as good as Peter Cetera.

  • This is nice...really enjoyed it.

Dwayne Bailey's guitar gives it a George Benson sound.

  • ninguem supera a interpretação do peter!

  • this song is great and jason rocks it period

  • one of the rare videos that jason sounds good on.good song

  • i really love this song. Brings out happy memories.

  • I think Cetera has one of the most beautiful voices with paul mc cartney freddy mercury and michael jackson

  • Scheff and Bailey(guitar)are really strong on this tune.

  • One of my all-time favorite Chicago tunes. I like that it's the "extended" version. Jason does a great rendition - unbelievable, really!

At :48 Walt looks like he can't open the lid to a can.

  • my family like too you. beijos zaninha

  • like jason, the video-best chicago, like too see jason song happy man.desculpe pois sou brazileira e estou aprendendo a lingua inglesa agora. beijos zaninha

  • Happy Man es una canción muy bonita. Gracias por escribir, Zaninha! Saludos a Belo Horizonte!

  • every bit as good as cetera - if not better

  • cetera can almost stay in his normal voice. Jason goes high and thin quickly. i personally like Cetera. but i can see why you like jason. he is good too.:)

  • obrigado ! lindo mesmo.. prefiro o jason ,mas é porque sou super fä dele,até um pouco apaixonada.. beijos direcionado ao meu brasil!

  • Do Brasil: o melhor vídeo de Chicago!

=) Of Brazil: The video-best of Chicago!

  • Jason sounds great on this video, but I really think that Dewayne makes it special. Nobody has ever replaced Terry, but I got chills when I heard the guitar on this clip.

  • Jason Scheff sounds really good on this. Around 1993 he was still in fine voice, with a version of If You leave Me Now live from the Greek Theater a notable recording.

This is really a Peter Cetera solo tune by all accounts. Why Chicago would pull this out to play with such a huge catalogue of songs to choose from is odd.

  • Get one for yourself maybe.

  • I'd like to see Jason do this song now, he sounds great and looks great and he can still show off his great arms NOW! don't hate

    grayfoxx!

  • This is beautiful song, everybody love Jason!!!

  • Holy Cow, Jason knocked this one out of the park! Awsome job.

  • I think this is the closests Ive ever heard Scheff sing like Cetera on one of the original songs.

  • sweet song. definitely one of Chicago's best ballads, and rarely performed. Saw Lee sing it last year, really cool :). I'd like to see Jason revisit this... his voice is so much better now than it was in '93. thanks for sharing this!

  • Oh I love Jason on this! I enjoyed Dawayne Bailey's guitar very much too. Love the jazzy feel . Great performance overall! I also saw Lee sing this one last year.. and I love Lee's voice, but I think Jason wins this one.

  • Scheff does a great job with this. Seems to struggle with some Cetera tunes.

  • great song and great performance!

  • Maybe because I like Jason more as a person than Peter I loved seeing this. Thank you for posting....

  • When I saw them in 2006, Lee sang it. He did a nice job.

  • No kidding!? I'd love to have seen that. I love how Chicago rotates who sings some of their songs. It just shows how talented the band is. Jason sounds great on this song.

  • Jason Scheff does an amazing job on Happy Man and today he could do it and still sound great

  • yes, I actually like DB's playing... not too sure about Tris Imboden's choice of style though... guess i'm too loyal to danny (and Peter).

  • It may have lost it's latin tinge but it gained a jazz one thanks to DB's playing.

  • oh dear!!!!...some songs shouldn't be sung by any one else but the original artist. would help if he was in tune too!

  • Of course you're right, Linsey! Peter is the best, but I like this song very very much. Doesn't matter who is the singer. Thanks for posting anyway!!

  • sorry to disagree but some vocalist just can't get the right notes or the right tune to cirtain songs...would stayin alive sound as good if lois armstrong had done a version?...and tryin to cover pc songs is just a no no...but everyones entitle to there opinion, depends on how you look at the situation an your right..superb song!

  • not considering the vocals, it seems to have lost its latin jazz feel.. is it the absence of danny and laudir?

  • I really like DaWayane Bailey's guitar playing on this tune.

  • never heard jason do this thanks obviously different but not too bad.
