Time Out! I thought something was weird about this vid--Not Peter Cetera! But this guy does an okay job--Still love the original somewhat more, though.
i hate to keep dissing on the 'new' Chicago. and i know they have to reprise songs associated with past band members. but this was never a big hit, there is no compelling reason to do it. and it's one of the few (very few) songs in the Chicago catalogue that is singularly a Cetera song. so, let it be. let jason sing his awlful 'bigger than elvis' and all that other crap but leave this one alone.
Me encanta esta canción! Compré hace mas de 30 años este disco doble en vinilo y fué mi segundo disco ahorrando peso por peso. El primero fué So vane de Carly Simon.1975 o 1976.
This is a great version of Happy Man. All you Cetera fans who knock this version are out of it. But you all can take comfort in the knowledge that Peter was no worse than their third best lead vocalist when he was with the band.
@Teddyusmc13 - Respectfully, "Happy Man" is Chicago, albiet with Pete on vocals - a fantastic song from 1974's Chicago VII. I agree, however, I would much rather see Pete up there ripping the vocals on this classic - but he quit the band. Jason does the song justice, that being said. :)
you know whats funny about making fun of people singing? They are in the band and have a nice living from the very people that make fun of them. Keep buying the music, going to the concerts. I'm sure they love you!
BYE.
This is not a "new guy" as he has been with Chicago for 24 years. Cetera left and thankfully someone was able to step into his place so that we can continue to enjoy Chicago. People need to let go of Pete Cetera. He should have stayed with the band because he has somewhat fizzled on his own. I love Pete, though. Great voice, both of them.
They were rated very high because of their percussions. Your right it was quite sometime ago. Music has and always will be whats gotten me though life at least thus-far.
If anything, Cetera fans should be mad at him for leaving, because they're still selling more tickets than Peter's solo act lol. I just find it funny that people hate Scheff for him being successful with the band.
But the only problem for Cetera is that the album he released right after leaving the band was his only mainstream success. The others did okay on the AC charts but his solo career was succesful for only so long.
My comment was just saying that the band Chicago is on a much more successful streak than Cetera and his solo band. Alot of people are mad about that.
Homem Feliz Rapidamente Sem que eu desconfiasse Você aprisionou meu coração E me protegeu Agora eu estou me apaixonando por você Justo quando pensei Estar livre e desempedido-você veio a mim suave e calmamente Agora eu estou me apaixonando por você Me apaixonando por você E pela primeira vez na minha vida Eu sei o que é ser: Um homem feliz .......... sem palavras!
Jeez, just appreciate the gig the way it is. They are still class musicians. No its not the true Chicago.
Don't knock Bill. He's been around and has paid his dues. When this song was originally released they even had new members. I don't remember anyone knocking Donnie Dacus when he played guitar, and the guy could play. No it was not Kath - but a new sound. This is a new sound.
I agree dude, too bad they still try to be Chicago without Kath, Seraphine, or Cetera...can't do it, no way. Tris Imboden is a commercial scrub drummer. F him.

Peter has an inherently richer voice than Scheff. The higher Scheff sings, the thinner his voice gets. Cetera could go quite high and still have a fullness. While this is a 'passable' cover of Happy Man, it just DOESN'T get it.
I learned Bass from getting all the sheet music for the first 11 albums. Cetera was a great Bass Player. Scheff is ordinary.
BTW...Who gets to sing in front of an Orchestra and command top-tier tickets for the main stage and who gets to "play the lounge?"
we cannot compare jason with peter or peter with jason, coz their two different man. it's not proper to say one is better than another, the thing is they sing the song whole heartedly and we sing together with their song in the same time.
ok, i admit it. this isn't as bad as i thought it would be. Jason is sharp in places, and he ain't Peter, but this is actually okay. But please lose the tank top!
I'm a cetera fan.. ok he's the original guy... but what do u want the band to do... stop the music becoz cetera don't want to do it anymore??? jason scheff has his own style...just give a credit to him also...

Jason sounds great on this video, but I really think that Dewayne makes it special. Nobody has ever replaced Terry, but I got chills when I heard the guitar on this clip.
Jason Scheff sounds really good on this. Around 1993 he was still in fine voice, with a version of If You leave Me Now live from the Greek Theater a notable recording.
This is really a Peter Cetera solo tune by all accounts. Why Chicago would pull this out to play with such a huge catalogue of songs to choose from is odd.
