so, if a policeman joins the force because its a good paying job it doesnt mean hes joinig solely for that reason. more than likely they also care about their community, the paycheck makes it possible for him to do it full time. its very similar to a soldier. while we do join for benefits, the underlying truth is that we also do it for love of country. otherwise we would just do something else less risky

The fact is for the most part (like I've said over and over it's NOT 100%) people do not join because they are patriotic, they're looking for a good paying job. @neosatus My father was a marine and in the 82nd airborne. he blew out both his knees and messed up his back on different missions. he didn't get very much compensation for his patriotism and we spent the rest of my child hood living in a small 2 bedroom apt. at a college apt complex. still, he is a marine at heart and doesn't regret a thing and neither do the rest of my family who are in the military don't have as much as we do but don't care because they know what it means to fight for freedom

After being in the Air Force for 6 years, I am not at all surprised at the typo in the freaking name of your video. If there is ever a place to proof read, it would be the title of your work. Have you ever asked people "serving" why they enlisted? It is so rare the answer has anything to do with patriotism it shouldn't even be considered. People join the military when they knock up their girlfriend, can't afford college, want medical benefits, or want a retirement check at 38.
I have yet to met someone who joined the military because they "knocked up" their girlfriend. As far as college...whats wrong for joining to get the GI Bill, not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth, and i know i sure as shit don't want 100k in student loans. edical benefits?....okay whats your point, most major companies offer medical plans, retire at 38. After 20 years in the military they deserve it.

What's wrong with those reasons? They knocked up their gf: now they can afford to house and feed their family. The can't afford college: now they have the flexibility to learn a skill that will provide them with a good job after the military. They want medical benefits: doesn't everyone? And the retirement check at 38? If you've been sent overseas for months at a time, over and over again, risking your health and life for others, you deserve retirement at 38.

@stealthgerm Actually the military does contribute significantly to the scientific community, and has in the past and present come up with various advances in technology/science. For instance, the internet.....that started out as a military project. Those kind of advances contribute significantly to the Economy.

Actually the military does add significantly to the GDP/GNP. Look at the military industrial complex, that is an ENTIRE industry that is centered around our military, and that does add to the GDP/GNP of this country by doing things such as providing jobs, to manufacturing products. In the area that I live in, most of the jobs available are jobs for companies such as Lockheed Martin, or General Dynamics.
@stealthgerm Admittedly those companies are not the military itself, but they do focus on development for the military. So in a sense the military adds directly and indirectly to the GDP/GNP.
I totally am with you but you misrepresented US military spending here. It's only 4.3% the size of the GDP, But it comprises around 40% of the federal budget (I think slightly it's less now). It's definitely valid to be concerned about the size of defense spending.
Of course. there is alot of ineffecient spending within the DoD.
Once again though, its a issue of accountibility. We in the military don't get to create our own budget. Why blame us for something we have no control over. thats the point i was making

I don't care what the CBO says, numbers based on gross domestic income (gdi) is a far more accurate measure. which equates closer to 7.2% still the highest in the world! besides when you're broke reducing spending anywhere helps, especially when 700 billion is spent to occupy 130 countries, and WE (as a country) only take in $2.4 trillion (that's 29%)

so, if a policeman joins the force because its a good paying job it doesnt mean hes joinig solely for that reason. more than likely they also care about their community, the paycheck makes it possible for him to do it full time. its very similar to a soldier. while we do join for benefits, the underlying truth is that we also do it for love of country. otherwise we would just do something else less risky

The fact is for the most part (like I've said over and over it's NOT 100%) people do not join because they are patriotic, they're looking for a good paying job. @neosatus My father was a marine and in the 82nd airborne. he blew out both his knees and messed up his back on different missions. he didn't get very much compensation for his patriotism and we spent the rest of my child hood living in a small 2 bedroom apt. at a college apt complex. still, he is a marine at heart and doesn't regret a thing and neither do the rest of my family who are in the military don't have as much as we do but don't care because they know what it means to fight for freedom

After being in the Air Force for 6 years, I am not at all surprised at the typo in the freaking name of your video. If there is ever a place to proof read, it would be the title of your work. Have you ever asked people "serving" why they enlisted? It is so rare the answer has anything to do with patriotism it shouldn't even be considered. Actually the military does add significantly to the GDP/GNP. Look at the military industrial complex, that is an ENTIRE industry that is centered around our military, and that does add to the GDP/GNP of this country by doing things such as providing jobs, to manufacturing products. In the area that I live in, most of the jobs available are jobs for companies such as Lockheed Martin, or General Dynamics.

I don't care what the CBO says, numbers based on gross domestic income (gdi) is a far more accurate measure. which equates closer to 7.2% still the highest in the world! besides when you're broke reducing spending anywhere helps, especially when 700 billion is spent to occupy 130 countries, and WE (as a country) only take in $2.4 trillion (that's 29%)

@supertony5111 I repect you for standing up for the men and wommen of the military like you have. I have commented on a few of her videos as well. At this point you might want to let her keep ranting. We should stop giving her attention. that is all that people like this do this for.

@supertony5111 Hooah, mate. What I love is that I (and most likely you) are willing to die for her right to put out these videos. I'm annoyed when people say that the US military only has stupid people in it. *Sigh* Eh, whatever, people wanna be stupid, people can be stupid.
