  • Did this air on Sesame Street?

  • Am I the only one that notices that only Mexicans are making these?

  • why does this video have to have sound effects instead of commentary like the other instruments?

  • seriously. how can you not like this?

  • HECHCO EN MEXICO

  • 1:10 -- I just love the sound of the saxophones being dipped into that liquid bath. It has a soothing quality to it!

  • Oh gods, memories! I remember watching this on TV!

  • oh yikes. so does this mean that even brand new saxohpnes are still used?

  • The part right at :30 with the neck part spinning and being shapened scared the crap out of me as a kid.

  • @birdsandbugs1 I had the same reaction as well. But for me this wasn't as half as scary for me as the infamous red hot I-Beam of Doom.

  • love jazz nothin more relaxing then a double bass & a good sax

  • When I was little, I never connected the noises throughout the feature as being made by the finished instrument. I thought it was just random, odd squeaky noises! Haha... Probably kept it memorable, though. YouTube is awesome for this stuff.

  • very fantastic!

  • I love how the mouthpiece is upside down in the last shot of the video!

  • LOL! it is!

  • wow they got saxophones!

  • 0:30 0.o

  • i first saw this video when i was about six years old and part of it that i did not understand was the saxaphone noises in the background at the time until at the very end of this clip when the man said "saxaphone" i understood it completly and remember it very well to this day however, for some strange, surreal, and bizzare reason i wanted to see the clip right this secound or at least today (before the day or before the week ends).

  • Sax a ma phone

  • conn saxes made in nogales mexico. the end of conn saxes.

  • Was that the late Lee Konitz @ the end?

  • jajaj very funny

  • WOW

  • I saw this on Sesame Street too, as a kid and it changed my life! My whole life's purpose became to play the sax!

  • I bet Lisa Simpson would enjoy seein' how saxophones are manufactured.

  • 0:32 didn't know this was a porno

  • @curtismichael14 That's insane. That machine is spinning the end piece the sound is output to so it can be shaped properly, so loosen up!

  • @tpirman1982 lol, its a joke man, chill hahaha

  • I laugh when I listen to the sound of a saxophone playing in this video.

  • I wonder how they manufacture the bari sax?

  • Sorry to sound like a complete pervert, but even as a kid I always laugh at loud at the scene at 0:28 because the part of the saxophone the guy was making did & still does look like an over excited penis LOL!

  • @JuanMamaril That's crazy. That machine is spinning the end piece the sound is output to so it can be shaped properly, so loosen up!

  • They make it look very easy

  • Would you happen to know the dimensions of the brass sheets they are using? I would like to make my own tenor.

  • Imagine who might of test played the brand new saxophone that you bought!

  • This video was made for the Sesame street show.

  • @kidcoast777 I remember this one.

  • This video is actually what got me started on the sax. It came time to choose an instrument for band class, and I remembered this from PBS (I think it was on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood).

  • fuckin shit saxes right there

  • okay... care

  • they are making mexiCONN saxophones

  • I've been listenin' to songs that contain the saxophone since Smooth Operator by Sade.

  • I bet the workers often think about all the future musicians who will play the saxophones at their future gigs and such.

  • Hats off ; )

  • @chowder707

i don't know who they are ,but i think the man who play it is a repaireman or a pro.

  • Who is that paying the saxaphone athe end? And who is that that says saxaphone at the very end?

  • @chowder707 that's ricardo rodriguez playing the sax at the end and fats gonzales saying "saxophone"

  • @MassiveBarfage How did you find out who is saying and playing the saxaphone? I am also chowder707.

  • Nelsiebaby-- you got it all wrong. Mark Davis was the narrator of this not Charlie Browns teacher. Plus there really is no narrating in this video only at the end when Mark says SAAAX-O-PHHOONEE! ..Get you facts straight son!

  • it was a joke on the fact that on charlie brown, adults make no words, only sounds kinda like these in the video, untill later

  • @penny2zona Who is Mark Davis. I tried googling his name and found nothing about a Mark Davis who plays saxophone.

  • Pharoah Sanders or Art Ensemble of Chicago style.

  • This was narrated by Charlie Brown's teacher.

  • sort of like a place tom and jerry would visit, Tom eventually gets squashed by one of those hammer things.

  • This video scared the crap out of me with the weird playing when I was a child but I seem to have always looked back on this video with fond memories.

  • Uhh..these are really cheap saxophones.

  • Saaax-O-Phhonee!

  • hahaha that's exactly what I was about to say. and the solo at the end is quite nice though!!

  • ok, is the back round music just a bunch of random notes, or is it a form of jazz i dont understand

  • It's improvised, so it sorta is random

  • If you haven't noticed, it's just notes being played to match each process of build. ;]

    It's very amusing

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaah

    hahahahahahahahahahaahhaahhahahahah

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa

  • Interesting

  • @retrohippie I like that too

  • thats awkward it went from saxophone to tenor sax

  • wouldnt have an orchestra or marching band without a sax

  • not many orchestras actually have saxes. concert bands do. marching bands do. orchestras do not.

  • It is a woodwind instrument and has a reed like a clarinet.

  • good obserbation???

  • I was searching for this, thanks for the post.

    SAXOMAPHONE

  • Sesame Street???? Man it has been literally years since I have seen this!!! Thanks for posting!!! Really you made my day! Happy 2009!!! Everyone!!!!!

  • At 0:26, Funny how the saxophone makes a quacking sound. Lol.

  • At 0:20, The saxophone does a low-pitch trill, then goes honk, honk! Lol

  • Holy crap. I remember seeing this on Sesame Street when I was a kid.

  • I know right... I remember this... and how they make toy cars on Mr. ROger's Neighborhood. lol. Its nice to remember these kinds of things.

  • @TheNilvarg What is that water like stuff in the bucket that the saxophosnes are being diped in to?

  • @redfox409 I think thats the laquer finish or something

  • That is a pretty cool video. I wonder if you could make a straight contrabass saxophone, now that would be epic.

  • I think that in this century saxophones make according to new technologies... But thanks for posting!

  • Which one is the Soprano sax?

  • a soprano sax is small and usually looks like a straight tube much like a clarinet

  • Kenny G plays a soprano sax.

  • lovely!!! and fun!

  • OMG..I remember back in kindergarten when I would golden spray paint my macoroni art and it would totally remind me of this clip!!

  • I remember that video from childhood, thanks for the memories!

  • wow complicated

  • i think it's a lot different now

  • No, the process is still the same. Musical instruments, at least quality ones, are made mostly by hand.

  • You don't want the factory made ones. And avoid Wal-mart instruments like the plague.

  • That goes without saying.

  • big LOL!

  • What's The Sesame Street In The Tags??????

  • This is a clip from Sesame Street.

  • Actually, it aired on Mr. Rogers...it was one of those clips that would start by playing in the picture on his wall...I remember as it was my favorite of the bunch...

  • i'm not 100%, but i don't think it did air on Mr. Rogers, because whenever he showed something on picture-picture, he talked about what was going on in the clip. This is purely music, leaving it to the viewer to understand the process in their own way.

  • mr. rogers? are you sure, I thought it was from sesame street

  • It is definitely from Sesame Street.

  • That is correct. I remember this from Mr. Rogers as well. :)

  • I was the only one to really watch anything on Mr. Rogers in my family, but my sister and I both watched this together and we both watched Sesame Street. I'm 99.9999999% sure that this is Sesame Street.

  • it is

  • I like how the mouthpiece is on upside down at the end :P

Great video, they seem so much less solid from this video than when you're playing one.

  • lol yeah

  • Wasn't it Wynton Marsalis who lent his sound to this video?

  • I doubt it, since he doesn't play saxophone. Branford maybe?

  • Wow, that brings back memories.

  • Been waiting a long time for this. Thanks for making my day.

  • I remember watching this as a kid and not really knowing what a saxophone was at the time. When I started playing the instrument in 5th grade, I remember thinking about this clip and that I wanted to see it but never was able to. This is the first time I've seen this video clip since before I started playing the saxophone and I'm currently 27.

  • beckigreen and jomad4674 all i can say is for you two to lighten up! i think you have the issues...and i have the freedom to express my comments openly on this site just like everyone else does.

  • OMG!!! it's finally on here again!!! Awesome!!! Thankyou for posting it again.

  • at 35 seconds i always found that funny...and to boot, my sister and myself entitled this one simply (instead of sax) sexaphone i find the "sex" aphone ordeal hysterical when i say it! SEXAPHONE!

  • Replacing the "a" of saxophone with an "e" is a cliche that nobody finds amusing anymore - or ever. Except maybe by you.

  • sounds like you and your sister have issues.

  • I like this. Seeing how a sax is made.

    ~Ra'akone

  • Awesome man, that just brought back a whole lot of memories.

  • From the 53 to 58 second mark is the dildo.

  • The guy who made this film is my dad's friend.

  • good video always interested in these things

  • Thank you for posting this brings back great memories !

  • aww one of my favorites as a kid!

  • BTW, it seems the first few seconds are cut off.

  • Ye's it is unfortunately,about 3 seconds.

  • SAXOPHONE! I still love the narrative sounds - cracks me up!

  • Yeah, I bet that was to make this film a bit comical.

  • I remember this but wasn't able to get it!

  • Sorry for the bad quality with the logo blur.

Maybe sometime in the future someone could download the clips and fix them.

At least now It wont be removed due to the logo issues.
