Can somebody explain to me why the American Navy has chosen for the F18 hornet to replace the F14 I mean the F14 is better ,stronger and can carry more waepons than the F18 besides the F18 is made in the 80 th's and to mine opinion not so good as the F14 !!!
The F/A-18 SUPER HORNET is the modern version of F/A-18 and it can work together with other aircrafts in the air, I mean if one plane detects an enemy plane, the other planes can see it on their screen even if it's out of their radar range. However the F-18's operational cost is much cheaperthan the F-14's.
are you serious, we can't afford this kind of jet plane defense do you know how much these type of planes, common do we have a very trainable pilots and budget to to answer all the needs of this jet planes?

F-15 has never been shot down in air to air combat. F-18E/F is a much "smarter" jet then the F-15, but it's not a true dog fighter like the F-15C is and will get it's ass whooped by the Eagle in a dog fight. However the Superhornet is PERFECT for the job it was designed to do, being a true multi-role fighter, it's going to give the F-35C a really hard time proving its price tag is worth it. :)
for me super hornet is better than f-15 eagle i like this more if my country is totally rich we get 10 or 20 super hornet because every body like this one !
@6digit Of course the super hornet is better than the F-15 Eagle, it is more modern than the Eagle. You gotta give the Eagle his respect, no war plane besides P-51 Mustang has had more success than the mighty F-15 Eagle...

I worked with this jet and the old f18s for over 6 and half years and nothin beats seeing them take off the carrier in person and it still takes my breath away thinking back to being there.
Flying this machine was the greatest privilege of my life. The launches were awesome, it never got old. There's also nothing like rough sea landings at night. I spend my days on airliners now. I spend my weekends flying L39's
