While living in Ottawa, I came across a lot of people who would say "my condolences" when I told them I was from Toronto. Apparently Ottawa thinks there is a rivalry between Toronto and Ottawa. Toronto is not aware of this and does not compare itself to Ottawa, so it's just making you look bad Ottawa and you need to stop!
@jintarman No not all of them, and no 'successful country' has provinces which threaten to secede, which hog vital natural resources or which actively take part in taking more and more power away from the national elected government.
One national government elected by the citizens, regardless of region.
One of the best from Rick, good to see the Bloc is down, maybe that will help kill the regionalism, we just need to get rid of the Harper Reformers to finally end the bullshit
Theres so many countries out there that barely have governments and are divided by warlord and druglords and corruption and they wish so badly for a united country. We in canada have all the luxuries of a first world country, so if you think about it....What on earth are we all divided about.
@choirboyfromhell1 Wait a minute: Harper's making this country more and more of a sick joke all the time, and you say we need to shut up because the exact same thing is happening exponentially worse in the states?
Who is to say that we won't MIRROR the states, if we don't get rid of these clowns?
So true. We are all citizens in this country, and those who represent both sides of this dispute should try to compromise and make changes, rather than act pig-headed and state that they are still going to try and get rid of the Long-Gun Registry, like the Tories have done. If our government can't learn to compromise and work together, then nothing will turn out well for this country, both in and outside of this registry.
@TailsCoinProductions The reason why there's a reluctance to "compromise" on things like the gun registry is that it's not really a compromise. The gun control lobby doesn't actually give up any ground by "compromising." It's a bit like a mugger demanding all your money, and then "compromising" by only taking half instead of all of it. Then doing the same the next day... and the next... and the next...
We do really need to bring Canada together, the diferences amongst the educational system and the health system province by province is just astounding...
On a side note, I'm glad you said regarding the gun regestry vote. XD Thats exactly what came to mind when I read that news article.
Mr Harper has apparently lost site of what is a democracy...
the fact some mp's changed their vote based on what their riding was telling them was heart warming to hear.

Simple, radical recipe to save Canada:
Abolish the fucking provinces.
Institute proportional representation
One elected national parliament
