The name of the song is 'Until the Last Minute.' It's on his latest album 'Taking the Soul for a Walk.' His compositions are just as good as his playing. He is truly gifted.
IMO honestly i feel that Antonio Sanchez plays with a higher level of musicality and has a wider range of ability and technique than Dafnis, despite my admiration for him. At least for me, Antonio is just more fun to listen to
I dont hear Bozzio either but ALL drumming is related. It could be phrasing or anything that you are hearing at the time. For instance I hear a Miles Davis feel along with the Latin form.
Instead of just down-thumbing you I would just say that Dafnis has a lot of stuff from his Cuban heritage but uses it in a very creative manner. He is not so traditional with it but combines it with other elements. And Terry Bozzio has stuidied and uses many things from Afro Cuban, Senegalese and other African drumming. So in this there is a similarity. But I don't believe Dafnis' playing is coming from Terry.
I didn't say it was coming from Bozzio, I said it reminds me of his playing. I heard Bozzio first, and this guy's playing strikes a memory in my brain of Bozzio. For the record, I did not give anyone thumbs down.
yeah I know you didn't thumb down. Other people thumbed you down and i was just stepping in in your behalf. I understood what you were saying. My comment was more directed at the reactionary down-thumbs and offering my idea of what some of the similarities could be coming from. I didn't mean to sound critical of your comment, i was trying to side with you. 4 downthumbs is close to getting your comment struck and i saw no harm in it so i just added a thumb up.
Well, it's back to four. I think this thumbs-down thing is kind of like war. Use it in a proper, necessary way, and it can improve the world (youtube world). Abuse it for the sake of power, and everything gets fucked up.
Oh god why had I not heard of him before?!?!?!?!?

He taught himself to play the drumset. Best around. No one plays with the touch and musicality that Dafnis does.

Don't get me wrong I love Antonio but Dafnis plays more like he's on fire, and that's just more my style. Both great drummers though.

There shouldn't be a "thumbs-down" anywhere near Dafnis. Ever..

Love his style Right hand clave instead of left foot clave. He's a very organic player and tunes his kit to get a more open sound.

IT SOUNDS LIKE BOZZIO. An opinion is almost impossible to be incorrect, it's only somone representing what their brain tells them.
