What ESC are you using with this motor? I heard that this motor will destroy a super simple 40A ESC because its a 700W motor... may or may not be true but i have one of these motors on my HK-450 and am looking for an ESC to power it.
I was using a SuperSimple 30A with it at the time - it didn't run well. When I put the Plush 40A, it really brought up the headspeed. The Plush 40A combo with this motor is fantastic.
They are the standard weights that come with the heli, I don't know how much they are. They were on the outside for this video, right next to the paddles. You can slowly move them in (provided they are still balanced) as you progress - I just removed them once I got confident.
Hi, great flying man ! I have a hk-450 with this motor and a 9t pinion, i just flied 2 times (my first heli). How much amps this motor eat with a 13t pinion ? New video soon ? thanks !
Wow, great flying. I just ordred this motor to go with my new HK-450 from hobbyking (Shipped yesterday) but did not give the pinion any thought. Can you tell me if it came with a pinion? Many thanks.
No, it didn't come with a pinion. In this video I was running a 12t pinion. I have since pinioned up to 13t, and it really hums along now! Videos to follow soon...
I ordered this based on (your?) review at rcgroups. Will go into the hk-450 if the postal service can ever find the package. These things are getting easier on the wallet. Nice flying too!
Yes I do. I'm not a 3D flyer however, so I shouldn't comment on how much, when or even if you should input. I just worked it out on HeliSimRC then took it to the air!
It came with the helo - listed as a "PowerTec 30A Brushless ESC". It programs with a Turnigy programming card, which leads me to believe that it is the same as a HC 30A SuperSimple card programmable ESC. It was running on "low" timing during this video, I'm going to try high timing tomorrow.
whats the flight time ur getting w/ like a 2200mah battery?

Yeah, this motor is rated 700W, but for 4s Li-Pol, on 3s 30A ESC is just fine.
mmisp 2 years ago
@redhead1331 I use a 40amp mystery with mine. It does not even get warm. I do mild 3d tic toks rolls funnels inverted hover. etc etc

@redhead1331 Tic toks seems to bog this motor down a bit. I have tryed a 11 tooth and a 12 tooth pinion.

Nice camera work! (good following) :)

Where did you place your weights on the flybar? Inner most or outer most? And how heavy are they?

How hot does the turnigy motor get after a flight?
Kenw4 2 years ago
Not at all. I never had it noticeably hot, although we're just out of winter here. ESC and battery heated up though.
briguy99 2 years ago
It's 100% compatible. I now have a mix of Flasher / Align / CopterX parts on mine. The quality is very good!

Nice flight! I just got the same T2836 motor with T12 pinion into my HK450 and works excellent!

I haven't measured the current, so I'm not sure. I do have a new onboard camera video up with the heli running the 13t.

Good luck! You can't go wrong with the price, for sure. I've since upgraded to a 13t pinion and taken the weights off, it flies 3D much better now.
briguy99 3 years ago
thanks! I'm a little concerned i'll be using a 30A esc. you said you dont know what your esc is? that info would help ;)
notasixpack 3 years ago
It's a 30A speed controller, I'm sure it's cut from the same cloth as the HobbyCity Super Simple 30A Card Programmable model.
