  • If the Rwandans were rich they'd all be paying thousands of dollars to visit the United States and see bears.

  • I remember seeing one up close at London Zoo when I was 5 years old. Lovely to see one up close but sad it was imprisoned in a cage. I think they have a better idea now with much larger enclosures and run them less like circuses.

  • Man That Silverback's arms were HUUUGE!!!

  • They're so strangely human.

  • @eatcarpet Aren't they! Their looks and mannerisms. But they have no soul like we do.

  • @Pulsar205 We don't have souls either.

  • The silverback has a cone-head.

  • omg I can't believe how close you guys were!. I would be waaay to scared to do something like this, But I bet this is a once in a lifetime thing. Thanks for sharing with us :)

  • My god totally so wonderful . I just cannot beieve it THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH

  • Beautiful footage! Amazing creatures!.Thanks for doing it ,for the one who cannot get there.

  • How could anyone hurt such an amazing animal ? People who kill gorillas should be killed themselves

  • Lovely video.I'm a bit obsessed with gorillas as of late. lol.

  • I like chimpanzees too

  • I'd be terrified if I saw a silverback as big as that one.

  • Don't worry gorillas are supposed to be gentle.

  • How can they eat these gentle giants In Africa?

  • cos theyre bloody hungry?

  • What awesome creatures! I would love to see them up close. I fear they will not survive though..numbers are just too low for come back. Heartbreaking that humans have almost destroyed these gorgeous animals.

  • God the size of the one gorilla, its fucking huge

  • amazing! so jealous.

  • i was about to ask the same. it hurts so much to see whats happening to the gorillas and i really want to help!

  • yh, i feel so helpless. gorilla's are one of the most endangered animals and theres nothing i can do to help

  • I love gorillas, also. I'm in an impotent rage over their killings. Is there ANYTHING a middle class person can do so save some lives?

  • You can check out the Dian Fossey Foundation website. I'm sure they would have some sugestions. There are various levels on membership. I've adopted a mother and baby.

  • It's frightening to think that humans have become the predators. This must have been an amazing experience for all who were there. I am posting this video on my education website, which has its home in Africa. Thank you for making it available.

  • un pa bo!

  • It is so sad to think that these families get poached just for their hands to be made into ashtrays! its sick how could anyone kill these amazing animals!!!!

  • my vords

  • I agree. I love gorillas. They're amazing creatures. I wish the poaching in Africa and elsewhere would end.

  • i totally agree!!

  • How can they shoot these beutiful animals?

  • I wonder how much a gorilla like that could bench

  • in comparison, I read somewhere that grizzly brown bears can swim faster than an Olympic swimmer and when translated into upper body strength (due to their massive bulk) could easily produce enough force to bench press well over 2,000 lbs. This has been seen in cases where grizzlies have flipped cars almost with ease. I'm speaking about male grizzlies. As for gorillas silverbacks? I couldn't tell ya, but I'd bet it's alot also.

  • well even the strongest swimmers cant make 5mph

  • gorillas rule

  • the rillas are so wionderfull i love them whoever put this on is awsome. RILLAS

  • The saddest part about all this is that these beautiful animals allow humans to approach and they do not know the difference between tourists and poachers... it's very sad.

  • I want one as pet or more like a bodyguard cool

  • wow cool animal very smart too,one of the Kings of the jungle.

  • thank you for this video! unfortunately i just read an article in newsweek that a silverback in rwanda, named senkekwe, and two adult females were executed a few weeks ago. it wasn't poachers, the didn't take anything from the corpses. after reading that it was very nice to see your video.

  • some people believe that when you die, your spirit transforms into a gorilla, and thats why they are so smart

  • wow that must have been awsome

  • Oh wow this is amazing!! Can I be cheeky and ask how much the whole trip cost u??

  • I spent two weeks traveling through Kenya, Uganda and finally Rwanda. The entire trip cost about €2500, (The Gorilla permit alone now costs in the region of €500!). I booked this trip through Exodus however many of the other travel companies offer simaliar trips

  • Thats surprisingly cheap!! I volunteered for a month in Ghana and it cost twice that much!!! Wow thanks for that - its certainly something to look into!!

  • can you stay so close?

  • You can go within three metres of the gorillas, however they may decide to come closer to you!, one of the blackback males touched me on my arm!!!

  • wow you are so lucky i wish i could have an experience like that

  • Man thats cool. They seem to be more peaceful unlike your wild ass cats

  • how safe is it to travel in the mountains like that? Arent there pouchers hat would try and hurt people? just curious.

  • It's quite safe, each group of eight people travel with two guides and an armed guard. Poachers keep well away from these areas.

  • Thanks!

  • Fantastic footage of these magnificent creatures!

  • Very nice

  • congratulations, we went the same year in February, we saw two families, several silverbacks and a twin babies. That was the final country of our trip, we loved it!

  • You got to see so much, did you see gorillas in the other countries you visited?

  • No, we visited southafrica, zimbawbe, bostwana, kenya, tanzania and rwanda, but only in rwanda we saw gorillas.

  • aWESOME!

  • Wow too close to them..

aren't they afaid when see human?

i would like to go there once...is it hard to meet them?

  • Contrary to popular belief the Gorillas are not aggressive and because they are so strong they do not fear humans. The permit costs $350 for 1 hour but I have heard that this will rise to $500 in 2007. I went there with Exodus, but many other adventures companies run organised tours to this region. You can also see Mountain Gorillas in Uganda and the Congo but we were told that Rwanda was best. Congo is cheaper but more difficult to get there.

  • you got sooo lucky! our trek was about 6 hours long and the group we saw (6 silverbacks) were in a really really tight spot on a very bushy hillside.

    Excellent video!
