Velonikis was out by the arch today. He certainly APPEARS to be either hiv positive skinny or else all the hatred of Villagers is working on him like a voodoo doll. He does not look well.
I was there a few weeks ago, August 2010 but in the early 80s it was an entirely different place to what it became in 1985 onwards, when a crack problem and political pressures from nearby residents led to a huge police presence and a stop to amplified music of all types that was part of the fabric of the place. No more of the party scene now the dance and rock amps are gone and so is the overt weed that was part of the magic.
Why are there all those signs around the fence surroung the park saying it is undergoing historical restoration if they are dramatically redesigning it?
This bastard, Vellonikis, is afraid to leave his house to walk his dogs. He knows how angry his mess up of the Park has made Villagers. It's a matter of time until someone assaults him on the street. He never imagined this video would go viral on the web. He looks a bit viral himself!
Sounds like the goverment is tring to keep people from gathering in one place. You know how bad that is!!! pepple might start talking and expressing an idea? Get to know one another. THAT would be terrible! Keep every one seperate and confussed! GO GOVERNMENT!!!!!
The people that actually use the park should start their own care of their park, tort fixin the broken shit. have some pride in where they live. Don't rely on the city to do it for you.
I think it's an evil ploy by land developers. They will decease the usefulness of the park and in some evil twist build more apartments for evil trust fund kids from throughout the USA.
oh man. this breaks my heart. i love that park just the way it is. polish it..don't change it!! its one of the few things i look forward to when i visit! :(
i got a knife held to my neck in broad daylight in this park and asked for all my money. i pretended i had none and ended up chatting with the mugger and he sat down and we shared a smoke.
i really hope they dont change this park and make it less hospitable for gatherings...humans need a place that costs no money where they can congregate. thats especially hard to find in a city like NY
Clearly, a bunch of unmitigated absolute assholes are tying to destroy the essence of the park to feed thier own egoic control fantasies and a bunch of contractor$.
The design ain't broke; don't "fix" it: Just repair/maintain the infrastructure and clean up the bathrooms!
the sad thing is the change proposal is either a developmental/ideological scheme or the brainchild of some douche who doesnt even use or appreciate the place.

Looks like Vellonakis has more to fear from HIV than anything. I wonder if he'll live to see is abysmal redo of what was a great park.

This film really shows the arrogance of the desginer and the Parks Department. Tony Depolito must be turning over in his gave.
