MCMAP is ok I guess if you're fighting someone with no real formal training. I was a green belt myself. My buddy stayed in the Corps and now has a McNinja black belt. I've continued with Jiu Jitsu since my eas and am about to test for my blue belt soon. He came to visit a few weeks ago and I ran a clinic on him.. :/

Mcmap is taught as aast resort in case of ammunition shortage. Believe me, a marine and his weapon is probably one of the most deadliest thing ever. Trained at 200, 300, and 500 yards to shoot and kill someone, they will use a rifle first. So, none of you know what you are talking about. And considering most firefighter occur at 200 yrds, and marines will buddy rush, they won't have to use Mcmap (marine corps martial arts program.)

@FightersEliteMMA MCMAP Isn't a program for civies, It's not MMA either; in a cage it would be different as well as it would be in Afghanistan. Usually though, all the stuff the Marines learned at boot on MCMAP are tossed out the window in a struggle; You'd probably try to gouge the guys eyes out, lean him into your KA-BAR, or just try to shoot him in the face with your side arm; not any of this MMA stuff.

The Marine Corps is one of the sponspors of the UFC, which is why they let them demonstrate their program, to use it as a recruiting tool in exchange for them being sponsored. And I am all for mixing other martial arts if they are effective, but you don't jump over guard to execute an armbar.....ever....

Its not even in the MCMAP curriculum either.

I'm a Goju Ryu Karateka for so far 13 years, and I know what it's like to NOT understand how to fight. I thought I was just gonna be able to use what I learned in there and win my first few fights. What MCMAP should have done was just teach the basic throws, takedowns, sweeps, submissions of BJJ/wrestling, the shin kicks/knees of Muay Thai, and the basics of boxing like slipping, overhands, straight punches. It needs to get rid of the BS filler like eye gouges/small joint manipulations. You cant do small joint manips unless you are in a good position and thats only possible with good BJJ or standup. Some of the moves they did arent MCMAP curriculum fyi, they put them in to jazz it up

Sorry guys, but this is not an "elite" fighting system. Its a Frakenstein martial art system of moves thrown together. Trust me, I'm a brown belt in MCMAP, but am currently a blue belt in BJJ and have done boxing, muay thai, and wrestling. I learned more in 3-4 months of BJJ and wrestling than I did in all my time of MCMAP. The problem with MCMAP is that its only "decent" at the high levels but most Marines never make it there cus of time constraints. They don't teach the double leg either.

Really? That's funny considering I am a Cpl in the United States Marine Corps and would never be on the other side anyways. Most Marines need martial arts to defend themselves in the bars or on the streets. The infantry, besides weapons training, would be better off with boxing, MT, BJJ, and wrestling like I said. All in all, MCMAP is just a poorly put together n practiced martial arts system IMO. The problem is a lot of the instructors are bad too. Just look at the armbar he did.

Boxing/MT are pretty much the best striking arts because they spar all the time, so of course they would be effective in a life or death situation in combat. The problem is Marines don't get enough time to spar because higher ups are scared of injuries and a lot of ITs suck. Most people dont even know how to throw a proper punch. The bayonet and M16 moves serve their purpose. The knife training in MCMAP is pretty lame. Its robotic. Marines dont need slams, just some more throws.

They have ground moves already, but they aren't really taught correctly. They should really replace the armbar from guard with a sweep since its more important to get to your feet as a Marine than submit from your back. M16 moves have buttstroke, slash, and smash which are all good.Krav Maga is nothing special btw. Its just like MCMAP, a bunch of moves thrown together without any real theory behind them. Its overrated too.A groin atttack wont stop most people trying to kill.

Most of MCMAP revolves around weapons and disarms, since that's most effective in a war zone. They are also trained to fight as a team. 1 on 1, they would lose. 2 on 2 they wouldn't
