  • "I DON'T THINK" "THIS RECRUIT DOESN'T THINK" is the proper response. Boot camp has become soft.

  • And yet they lost in Vietnam War how weird!

  • If anyone is in the DEP or wishes to one day become a Marine, there is a link on my YOU TUBE page that goes to a FUTURE MARINE WEB SITE.

I recommend you all read it. It is filled with honest and real information about the USMC.

  • I have it all planned out. Im enlisting in the USMC in Dec., 2009 with an Infantry contract. After my first tour, re-enlist and go for MARSOC (MSOB). I would love to be in the 24th MEU but anywhere the action is, is where I want to be.

The Marine Corps is a warrior cult, much like Roman Legions were back in their day. I want to be the best!

  • Where else can I jump out of planes, shoot guns, scuba dive, serve with likeminded individuals that are highly motivated and extremely dedicated professionals?

    Answer me that.

  • I totally agree I think its a wonderful life for the intellectually sound person, just reading your reply i think you have answered honestly, you yourself said cult, i think you may of been offended when i said you are brain washed, what i meant was as a group, some individuals will be mind zapped others will know that the doctrine is a load of bullshit but like you they will want the life experience of killing and life survival. You are correct you wont get that working in a bank or supermarket

  • For a large organization to work as a body, they must share similar values and ideals. Therefore the Marine Corps "cult", as I described, is merely the description of Marine indoctrination at Boot Camp. The willingness to run to the sound of gunfire is not shared by everyone, yet in the Marine Corps, everyone has been transformed by the warrior cult into men and women who run to the sound of gunfire and not be mindless. They can still think on their feet in order to problem solve.

  • I do understand and agree with all that you say, I think i was making a political point in my own mind they are a warrior cult that carries out orders from a mindless government, but that is not a marines fault, good luck to you I hope that you will have a wonderful time in service.

My father would say to me that dieing is never an option but living life is a choice, as you said in an earlier post where else could you do these things,

You are a very special man Gordon to be a marine. G Luck

  • Thank you. I respect you for what you have said.

Good luck in your endeavors as well!! May you and yours be safe, happy, and free!!

  • New Generation killing machines.

  • lol im a huge klutz so im probabaly going to break somehting. But im joining the marine corps next summer.

  • take jujitsu and martial arts before u do they dont teach you enough to save your life in there surprise them and dont tell them how much u know when ure in thats what my dad tells me just wantin to spread his advice he was a marine

  • What do the USMC do to graduate. What I mean by this is like the Royal Marine Commandos have to do a 30 mile march. Im just curious :P

  • I went thru Parris Island in 1983,I knew an Army veteran who was there with us and he said that the Army had to run longer distances, but the Marines were tougher psychologically.

I wasn't THAT bad, just a big pain in the ass with lots of yelling and stress.

  • It's God's job to forgive Osama, it's the Marine Corps job to arrange the meeting!!!

  • Best quote I've ever read in my life.

  • @caseyjones2222 sorry bud, the navy got to him first.

  • Instead of all this physical shit why don't they teach them something useful, like how to cook a 5 course meal, or give manicures, how to grow an organic vegetable garden, or meditate,... all essential survival skills.

  • thats the stupidest shit i ever heard

their getting them ready for combat

    you fucking stupid

  • Yes, but there is an awful lot of down time when they get extremely bored, & some soldiers don't even see combat. Being able to give manicures or meditate would help pass the time. For instance, I know from looking at your profile that you enjoy writing poetry & baking cookies, both useful things to know when you have nothing else to do. You can only clean your rifle so many times before it becomes boring.

  • I'm totally with you on this one... What the fuck is your deal "wannabeebee?" Thank GOD you aren't in the Corps. You are probably a decent person, but you obviously have NO military mindset whatsoever. Marines are straight up killers - no shame in that. You want cookies? Call a baker! You want a garden? Call a gardener. MANICURES?!? I won't even dignify that with a response. Clean those rifles clean and lubed, Marines, and Semper Fi!!!!

  • Yeah... nothing is more essential for survival than how to cook a five-course meal or give a manicure. Jesus H. Christ. Get bent.

  • I'll reiterate...marines have a lot of down time where they do all sorts of silly things not related to combat...just look at the videos on youtube! It would help alleviate the predominance of post traumatic stress syndrome if these soldiers could spend that down time doing something constructive & peaceful, like holding hands in a circle & getting in touch with their inner child, or reading each other soothing bedtime stories, all sorts of nice things...

  • You are dumb. Have you ever served? Probably not, in that case, I apologize, you are not dumb, just misinformed.

  • there's always room for teaching a harmlees thing like grooming pet dogs, or applying makeup, or calligraphy....

  • I would have to imagine instead of calligraphy and pet grooming, they are probably more concerned about staying alive. Yes there is down time in Iraq, Afghanistan, but that is the time you need to prepare for the inevitable, a mortar attack, a suicide bomber, a sniper, you get it i think.. or not

  • (cont'd) ... Say a suicide bomber is driving towards you. You could hold up a sign saying in Arabic "Not Right Now Please" or "Carpet Sale That Way". I bet not even a suicide bomber would pass up a Persian carpet sale. The calligraphy pens might even prove valuable as a bartering tool if captured, or even as a sharp pointy weapon. Pet grooming would be handy for all those Afghan Hounds, you know, the ones with the pointy noses & the LONG hair?! They come from Afghanistan.

  • or we could shoot the mother fucker and then cut his head off lol

  • I think calligraphy pens would come in handy because if you'll notice, a lot of Arabic writing is written that way. Marines could learn Arabic & then communicate with the enemy via signs. • Well DaisyDuck ... to be honest I think the calligraphy would come in very handy 'cause if you'll notice, a lot of Arabic writing is drawn that way. Marines could learn Arabic & then communicate with the enemy via signs (or postcards if they're not in a rush). (cont'd) ...

  • yeah and then we could all hold hands and sprinkle pixie dust on the letters and post cards then we can clean our rifles and get back to trying to ram a 6 inch barrel up the other guys @ss! Semper fi Gents'

  • haha

  • the1bigace, letters & postcards are not necessary with email/internet these days, so your idea isn't practical. Except for the pixie dust part - maybe that could be sprinkled on everyone's sleeping roll for a nice surprise at nighty night time. And a tootsie roll or something tucked under all pillows would go a long way to preventing the stress associated with the trauma of battle.

  • Internet? lol When I was in boot camp we didn't have internet Letters and postcards are what kept most of us going.

  • Yeah ok man, I'm sure there are tons of Marines who want the respect of an armchair quarterback civilian.POSING IS ILLEGAL lol. Anyway have fun bro.Your screen name is as far as you'll ever get. Don't you find it pathetic that you leach off of the reputation of people who actually had the balls to join? Later private Pyle.

    2001-present. u?

  • As soon as the marines took over (March 2004), is when the blackwater incident occured and chaos ran througout the streets. The insurgents preffered fighting the marines, because they would never change the the way the encountered direct contact (adapt and overcome), so do me a favor and go educate yourself, and stop lying saying that you were there, when in all actuality you were most likely spooning off mommy and daddy.

  • Listen, don't question my service you fukin loser, who probably couldn't hack it in the corps, and quit two weeks into boot. A Squadron of MP's from Rhode Island; Unarmored and ill-equiped kept order with routine patrols and frequent house raids searching for insurgents and weapons caches. The 82nd Airborne conducted well over 450 cordon and search operations, weapon cache searches, and established direct contact with the enemy well over 125 times ( No uprising).

  • Do you ever occupy something you haven't cleared of insurgents? You guys occupied Fallujah as policemen, same as in baghdad, you guys make fine police but leaving the city you patrol festering with insurgents is poor doctrine.(phantom fury/al fajr) Psyops leaflets warning of our intentions, let them know the time and place.Fixed/rotary/howitzer bombardment, sick the dogs on 'em.House by house block by block until the job is done. Not forgetting to honor our Army brethren who bled and wept with us.

  • Don't mind the shit talkers, they're mostly boots who are still in robot mode and march each other around on liberty lol.The ones who're anxious to kill, but won't realize that war is hell until it's too late.I don't think anyone here will disagree that the Army has the toughest spec ops,DELTA,Green Beret,Airborne Ranger.Second to DELTA is the SEALS.Listen civilians watching Jarhead/Full Metal Jacket/Apocolypse Now/COD4 DOES NOT QUALIFY AS MILITARY EXPERIENCE.You mix up your jargon, quit posing!!!

  • whoever says any part of recruit training was easy either A is trying to be a hardass B had shitty instrctors or C was one of those marines who just slipped through the cracks and didnt apply themselvs. i was there for a year. it aint easy.

  • his mom was cute

  • Don't send boys to die.

  • boyscout camp

  • Yeah you sign on for my boyscout camp. You wont last a week.

  • yes it would be interesting)

  • lol, it feels like i was there yesterday. shit sucked.

  • i hope to be a marine in 3 years.

    Semper Fi.

  • why, what happened?

  • army stands for arnt readdy marines yet.

  • a rmy aint

    r eal

    m en

    y et

  • I pray no gays get in the military. They would screw everything up. Be in the middle of combat and do screwy things to the men. A gay marine is not a marine.

  • NO GAYS IN THE MARINE OR ARMY. period!

  • Gays are already in the military.....

BTW, if you disagree with gays in the military you should consider the following:

    Spartans

    Samurai

    Alexander the Great

    were gay/bisexual.

  • Yeah, and they were all very good at what they did. Which was kicking ass and taking names. So I guess it really doesn't matter if they are gay if they can whoop some ass!

  • All should be killed, gays are a mistake

  • erm not all samurai Spartans were gay I'm pretty sure you can find a gay guy in any army

  • Hey if a gay is a good combatant I don't have a problem with their sexual orientation. That is their business.

  • nope,no honor.what you don't realize is that army guys have to shower together in basic training.

  • marines dont?

  • they dont even allow homosexuals to be in the service, so you are just a moron.

  • actually there is a 52 hour excercise of close combat training........the whole training is i think 1 year

  • try 3 months

  • ya you I bet you got kicked the fuck out because you sucked!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey now army cunt go make me a ham sandwich. Get too it! No fucking mustard.

  • This video moviates the shit outa me!

  • i know bro one day im gonna be a marine.

  • yeah SEMPER FI!!!

  • These are brave men! Be proud of them and enjoy your freedom every day!

  • I want to become a US MARINE

  • Only a 3 month training?? =/ here in the Netherlands its 6 months..

  • Yeah but its not including training school for whatever they plan on doing in the military. Sometimes its about a year total after all training is done.

3 Month Training in boot camp is just physical training, basic skills, military customs and c, and other basics. But nothing in depth.

  • USMC ROCKS!!!!!

  • those 2 comments before me better hope they never confront a U.S soldier and say that.

  • You are funny

  • i did and made him and his fellas eat my shit too

  • i did and made him and his fellas eat my shit too

  • fuck you you piece of shit cunt

  • and fuck you too you fucking cock sucker

  • Semper Fi!

  • But yes sir the USMC is what i want to be a part of in 2 years!

  • Don't insult the army, the US ARMY,just because they don't get as much action how old are you all, 13?!

Look,we're all on the SAME TEAM,and things are important in war and we need to be together on this, especially in the middle east.

  • right on brother, why do people get so hung up in the branch war? it the US part that counts not the army/marine/navy/AF

  • They would look fabu in strapless pumps

  • I graduated from P.I. feb.27 1985 3rd btl.i co.

platoon 3015.....boot camp was f-king awesome.

semper fi to all you devil dogs out there killing

    those f-king terrorist....god speed...

  • The Marines are always the 1st to go in nd the last leave.... The Army are the fcking idiots who fck it up for all of us... If they got trained just like the Marines they wouldn't be so complacent... I'm a brand new Marine so I know just a little but by the looks the Army is losing in Iraq....

  • you guys need to understand that yea, there are other forces in iraq and afgan, but how many of them are actually doing thier job right? air force just flies around army just rolls around in thier humvees but marines are the ones going through each building making sure its safe. yea the armys there, but are they doing as much as the marines? most likely not. think twice and educate yourself before you speak. dont make yourself look like the idiot.

  • hey i agree with what you just said. it's something i think about a lot. but youve got to understand that sum Army ppl are doing their job too. honestly, the marines & the army are the ones doing all the work.

  • bringonfootball:

LIsten guy, Marines pray for war, this is why they exist, to kill other humans, like it or not. I am sorry for you, and why are you in this site about the Marines if you are in the Army. Join the Corps and than talk. The US needs hard core Marines to defend it. Think first and later talk. This is an empire if you have not realized it.

  • Boot camp is hard for any civilian. Once you get to your infantry battalion things really get harder. Sniper school and training is for a few and U.S Marines has the best. Finally, let's not forget about Recon and Force recon marines. This training is top secret, thus people do not know anyhting about it in the world. OOOOOOOOOORahh!!!!!! fuck the army and everyone else. Marines kill and that is it!

  • Sorry to spoil your party buddy, but as far as EVRYBODY knows -> marines are GETTING killed and that is it!!!!!!!!!!

  • agree. This video is stupid. They act like marines are the only ones going to Iraq when ARMY has way more in Iraq. Granted we have more to be put in but marines aren't the shit and niether is the ARMY. I hate people who say fuck the army marines rule. Its the US military and if you meet me in Iraq and I have the chance to save your marine ass I will. Thats the bottom line.

  • If you thought the video was stupid and you knew people were going to be saying that in the first place why the fuck did you watch it?

  • fuck you bringonfootball. your a fuckin idiot. If you don't like the marines, why are even watching this video you little bitch.

  • Yeah, they're getting killed but who the fuck isn't?

Are you going to seriously tell me Army isn't?

At least they're[U.S. Military included] fighting to make the world a better place, and yeah, what the fuck are you doing?

    let me guess... nothing.

  • lol yea, and thats because the army is a larger branch. Also the army is a humanitarian force, Marines aren't we aren't supposed to stay there for that long we just kill and get out. Army rebuilds and does all that stuff, also the crucible was the easiest part for me so far, yeah it sucked balls but alot more things are worse in your career trust me. you go through countless stuff everyday. marines go in and the army cleans up our mess, Semper fi FOX Co. 2nd Bn PLT 2012 2007 OORAH

  • did you have to go to collage before joining ?

  • you dont need college for the marines. only a highschool diploma or yoru GED. if you have 4 years of college you can join as an officer and get paid way more.

  • but you do need to pass the test

tell me did your math skills ever come into play during you time in the marines

  • Depending on your MOS, the Military isn't all about infantry.

  • actually, Army elements were in before marines in the initial invasion of 2003(do your research), and the 82nd Airborne division had Fallujah on lockdown before the whack ass marines came in and fuked it all up!(do your research)

  • You almost got it right brother. We don't deny that you initially held fallujah. We started the first pacification inApril 2004. Our all knowing and wise civilian bureaucrats decided to pull us out.You remember the blackwater guys. November was cold as f*ck, operation al-fajr/phantom fury the second battle.Army was there also, but we spearheaded the op and killed everyone in the city that had the stomach to fight us.Many of them trickled down into Ramadi n Baghdad,we got our point across though.

  • You're absolutely 100% correct about the post blackwater fallujah. The point I was trying to make was that there was no "fight for fallujah" before the Marines occupied the city. It was the Marines arrogance, and lack of respect for the Paratroopers who had held the city prior to the Marines arriving there that eventually caused the city to become ridiculously unstable. Research how much violence the Paratroopers encountered, compared to the Marines.

  • Have all the violence you can get your hands on. If you've discharged your weapon in battle, if you lost brothers in the fight, you would never speak the way you're speaking. No one who has experienced true terror, and the mind blowing fear of battle comes home and debates body count, because killing is truly horrible. You're either a boot or a civilian.

  • when I said violence, I meant that Paratroopers encountered less, therefore, had more control over the city prior to the Marines arrival. I am no "boot" (whatever that means), nor a civilian. I am a Paratrooper with over 7 years of service (and counting). I respect your service, but I refuse to respect the the Marines on here that know very little about TRUE military history, and insist on not speaking the truth.

  • O shit, i just realized that this was my year in bootcamp they were interviewing LOL. 3rd Bat Plt 3010 Lima Company all the way baby, haha oorah!!

  • But I must address that it is because of this mentality, that Marines failed to realize that there are better military training out there, hence more to learn from. Most Marines that I have talked think bootcamp and fleet Marine corps is all they need.

  • Look with all this argument, I went through the Corps and I have seen some other countries train their Marines. Granted We have a very high standard but I myslef hate to admit that USMC bootcamp is not the toughest in the world. It is simply that, bootcamp, not for special forces. It should be the standard for all military branches, but it's not. The process serves its purpose but is not comparable to many other foreign military trainings

  • yep bootcamp is just the beginning lol, more fun to come hahahaah

  • @hgintern

You say U know for certain? what USMC unit were you in? 99% of the shit we go through in the corps civies have no clue about. I can tell you from my personal experience because I earned the title. The ones that talk the most shit are the first ones to go home. Lastly, bootcamp is just the right of passage. It doesnt get any easier, and plenty of people dont make their first tour. I expect U to talk some more about what you dont know, but I guess its your right to do so isnt it?

  • USMC3073 and others, thanks for your replies. It shows that Marines are good sports. Whether I personally would be able to go through USMC boot camp, and all training that follows it (let alone recon training) is open for discussion. As I am not an American I do not envisage joining USMC.

  • Military training in Holland comes in different shapes, as it does in America. Comparisons would thus miss the point if you do not make them between comparable units. But there comes the difficult part becaus, USMC for example is quite different from our Korps Mariniers. The former is in fact more of an army in its own right, with infantry, armour, air power etc etc., plus an elite unit, Marin Recons. It could in other words be termed a shock force, and a powerful one for that matter.

  • The latter, i.e. the Dutch Marines, are in fact more of a raider force. Korps Mariniers does however have a unit comparable to the British SBS. This I gather is a amongst the best special forces in the world. If anything this, I suppose, is similar to your Marine Recons.

  • Thus, I suppose I have as much right to make a comparison with USMC, as you have the right to compare the Corps with any foreign unit, because most American marines didn't pass basic military training abroad, just as little as I endured your boot camp. I was just a conscript officer in straightforward infantry, and as far as I can see USMC Boot camp is tough, but it is not comparable to basic training for special forces, not here, but not in your country either.

  • But rest assured, I hold USMC in high esteem, cause you cán certainly deliver a punch! God bless you.

  • The toughest military basic training? With all due respect, I know for certain that this is not true. The mental stress I witness in these kinds of documentaries is comparable to hazing in traditional fraternities in Europe. Training is in actual fact similar to good infantry training in most nations with respectable armies. Please understand me correctly, I am not saying that USMC is bad. On the contrary, it is excellent for its original purpose, storming a beach and getting a foothold.

  • You're from Holland? What is Dutch military training like?

  • The training you see is basic for any civilian. After this training you still have the other 3 years and 9 months remaining on your contract. I am a active Marine just re-enlisted and going with 1st Recon Bn. this January of 2008. Marine bootcamp that you see above is only and I say again "only" 3 months. Trust me when I say this is the easy part of joining the U.S. Marines.

  • lol that sand pit at 2:00! I spent alot of time there =)

  • I was a DI back in the late 80's. While you only showed the male recruits I think it might be a good idea to show the 4th Battalion recruits as well. Here's a little fact for you - In the 18 months I did as a DI, I NEVER has a female recruit NOT go off the repelling tower. I had males quit and FTA on it, but NEVER a female. So here's to you and to Our Corps and to the FEWER, THE PROUDER, THE FEMALE MARINES

  • dont kid yourself

  • Got to love "the pit" those were the days.... 1st Bn Co. A Plt 1102 back in aug- nov 04 Semper Fi

  • The mother in the end - she won't sleep much in the coming months. Be strong lady, my heart is with you.

  • OORAH BABY!

  • Whoa, now I see what I'm doing right now. Looks pretty rough.

  • Honestly your fucking nuts if you think san diago is harder than PI. idd take hills over sandfleas anyday

and we had a few DI's that came to our platoon for a few days from san diago to see how things were done on PI and they were layed back and you could get just about anything past them compaired to the PI DIs. and when they did yel at you it was about something we were already doing correct.

  • I was at the Island in 99 - One of the best Experience's I've ever had...To Be Honest It was Tough At First But Once That 1st Phase Ended I was hardcore motivated and did everything in my power to make sure My SDI and (4) DI's weren't wasting their time...All of my DI's had wives and kids living on the Island and that was a lot of respect because Training our Nasty little bodies was a huge task.

1st RTB Alpha Co. (PLT 1002) Representing.

  • you island boys have it easy, try our nice little hills at camp pendleton. then you'll now the true meaning of humping.

  • 23 more days

  • I went to bootcamp at San Diego, but it's all the same stuff

  • I remember those days.
