After you have it on, I would think it would be very painful to walk around with that in your shoe.

I've had the same thing for as long as can remember, over 20 years.

I've been to a couple doctors that put me on drugs, nothing worked. I assumed by that, it's got to be removed.

I am a foot nurse first thing i see is you spreading the fungus everywhere. The fungal nail dust produces spores which can spread onto other parts of the body, including your skin and lungs. Next time soak your feet in a 50% solution of white vinigar and water soak them twice a day. 30 minutes per soak. Use warm water. Be patient and over a 4 to 6 week period the nail fungus will start to disappear. Keep soaking until completely gone. The nail will remain deformed but the acid in the solution will kill the fungus.

@informativevideos1 Actually, once it has been "bulk" removed, you need to grind it down as far as possible with a dremel using a grinder bit. Once you have the nail (protection) removed, you have more of a chance to effect the fungus. Fungus does not like light - So get a magnifying glass and use the sun to focus the light and heat onto the nail. Might take a long time to finally kill the fungus.

Hi there, my doctor told me to leave mine well alone with regards to treatment as the tablets can ruin your internal organs and/or you can aggrovate the fungus to spread wildly. Another option was surgery which can be very painful, i have not got around to that part yet, but you can have a needle in the toe to numb the toe for them to cut it out/off.. good luck with it and do take care whatever path you think may be best!

ouch, onychogryphosis or a ram's horn nail....they just get thicker and thicker. surgery is the only long term to permanent removal, depending on severity. They can be quite painful, as I learned in school. I hope you've been able to eradicate it.

Maybe a Dremel would work better, that way you could get down further to rid yourslef of more fungus buildup. Then try treating it on a cleaner nail surface. Good luck, and thanks for sharing! @informativevideos1 my goodness, there is on the market plenty of products to get ride of this kind of infections..this is a mycose of dermathophite family...if you treat them properly you can see some enhancement after 1 month..you have here a very catastophic case.. you have to clean everything and get rid of all your shoes to avoid getting again infected...good luck anyway..i am still in shock ...we live in very modern countries where medecine is easy to get .so how is possible? 12 years 0_0

Dremel! Dremel would work so much better and faster. Just keep cool water near by incase you get it too hot. You can cut, grind, shape etc.

@informativevideos1 that's true, you can get side effects by using antifungal. just get it removed and all your worries will be gone. just make sure to protect the nailbed (ex. clean it, and don't let anything heavy fall on top of it! OUCH!)

I went to my local GP and he prescribed me terbinafine tablets which you take over the course of a month, but these can seriously damage your liver so I didnt bother trying to take them. im using some home remedies to treat it but to start off I had to reduce the nail size then apply treatments and see how it goes.

Yeah but, the doctor can just give you a shot in the nail bed to numb it up, then remove the nail and kill the root so it doesn't grow back again! What you're doing just seems like way too much work for a toenail! Good luck!
