Mansun were definitely the best for chord progressions and harmonies; something that I rarely remember from Oasis n Blur etc. etc. The band should have been as big, but unfortunately music that has a bit of soul switches too many people off :(
every f**king video you go to for this lot has 10s of 1000s of watchers. What the f**k is Draper playing at? Re-form and claim your rightfull place at the top table son!
There are no bands around to compare to Mansun.... inventive, witty, sexy, tunes that never pandered to the mainstream whilst still sounding great blasting out of the radio and being successful. And i never met anyone who thought they were just "alright", people either loved or hated them, mark of a great band in my eyes!
How dare you! Shed 7 never made any distinctive songs that worked as singles to compare as the Mansun era like. Just listen to Mansun's three LP releases: Attack Of Tthe Grey Lanten; Six and ; and the third album....Pick any singles and check them out ...
AAAARRRRRGHHH!!!!!!!!! Mime you gorjus boy!!!!! AAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! This is a really good song. The only reason I ever heard it is because I watched this guy playing a guitar pedal demo and he happened to play a few bars of this tune. It sounded brilliant so I had to look it up. Pity nobody knows this song in the states. Music is in a coma over here. Rock needs another kick in the ass like Kurt Cobain gave it in the early 90's
Great song from a truly great band. The best indie band Britain has ever produced IMHO. I've always loved Mansun and always will. Stove's current address&cell number anyone?:)
Radiohead described Attack of the Grey Lantern as a real musical achievement - that's a lot, coming from Radiohead. Since that album, Mansun produced many more brilliant tracks. Some of their b-sides are fantastic.
Yes its nice to see great bands acknowledge other great bands who don't get the recognition they deserve. I would love to see a Mansun reformation too :-)
@K33f4 Totally agree, and I'd say MANY of their b-sides are fantastic. There's at least two solid albums worth of material that never appeared as such ... during their time, that is.
this song is so stunning, as are most mansun songs. i think it was unfashionable to like them. i was in the mailing club and they sent me lots of cool stuff. happy times :) so underrated, no band today matches the elegance of this songwriting
it's funny to see one of the best live performing band playing on play back!
but, you know, when in rome...
Did you notice one thing? Mansun songs have often more than one thing to be picked separately and sung on its own. I do sing the guitar lines often. Or the background vocals! Great masterpieces ^_^
ME GUSTA! :)

People give that comment thumbs down because it's so pretentious. Throwing that phrase around doesn't make you any deeper or smarter.

That is so true. I think Mansun was the BEST fucking band in the world. Ever.

Who is able to make a song like this, with this fantastic almost endless super melodic pre-chorus part today?
NO BANDS.
So, thanks Mansun. It's great to listen to you.
Cototto 4 years ago 2
Yeah the bridge into the chorus is mind blowing. Modern bands don't have the musical talent to create something like that anymore.
