  • I live so near Bay Beach where the Zippin Pippin will take its next stand. I am sorrowed for those who lost their beloved ride (e. Elvis fans) but now we can enjoy it.. "Die Zippin Pippin" I will enjoy it.

  • Welcome to Green Bay Wisconsin Zippin Pippin, we will treat you with respect, honor, and dignity, as Bay Beach Amusement park will never close and you my friend will be the main event of our park :D

  • Awesome Steve

    fave

  • I came from Ireland to ride the zippin pippin, what a blast, i stood up much o the consternation of my girlfriend at the time.

    loved it to the end.

  • Since Libertyland is now closed, the city of Green Bay has purchased the Zippin Pippin for our own amusement park the historic Bay Beach...it should be reopened and ready for riders by May 2011. I'm glad I live only a mile away, I'll be riding it alot!!!

  • Very interesting video and I agree, its a shame it could not be preserved. And I am sure he would love the fast ones these days God bless him.

  • Thanks for sharing this, I agree it would be nice to preserve it in the name of Elvis. I wonder what he would make of all the fast upside down ones these days.

  • Interesting video. And good idea by IFI.We have one old wooden roller coaster in Helsinki, Finland, so I know how great they are!You cant compare them with modern ones.

  • What a great idea that ifIcould2 has think about it we could do this and not only give two dollars but give five . This way they could maybe use four or five cars and redo them as a small ride for the thousands of children that come there with thier parents to see GRACELAND and it could be placed in a spot out of the way on the grounds of Graceland. What a wonderful memorial to ELVIS. and to GLADYS. I know the heart of ELVIS would be happy. consider the children of haiti and the LOVE of ELVIS.

  • Is a big shame that the Zippin Pippin Roller Coaster ride couldn`t have been preserved as a memory to Elvis by Graceland, and know would have drawn huge crowds, with which proceeds of the takings could have gone to helping many of Elvis` favourite charities.

  • The Zippin Pippin is one of the country's oldest wooden roller coasters. It was built in 1912 and was moved to its current location at the Mid-South Fairgrounds in 1923. In 1976, an amusement park called Libertyland was built around the coaster. Elvis, himself, loved the Zippin Pippin and would occasionally rent out the entire amusement park so that he could ride it without interruption. In fact, a sign posted at the coaster's entrance reads.

  • "The Zippin Pippin was Elvis Presley's favorite ride. Elvis rented Libertyland August 8,1977 from 1:15am to 7am. to entertain a group of about 10 guests. Elvis rode the Zippin Pippin repeatedly during a two-hour period. He lost his belt buckle on the ride that morning, and it was found and returned the next day. Elvis's Libertyland rental became his last public appearance. He died August 16."

  • Yes, I don't mean to preserve the whole coaster, but a section of the original track and then a set of the Pippins Cars maybe that included Elvis favorite one to be preserved forever so all future fans can enjoy seeing his favorite ride from Libertyland and that way we do two good things help the people in Haiti in his memory and preserve a piece of his history for all time to come. I think it would be great. I'm sure there is room on the property owned by Graceland to put it on

    display .

  • I forgot to thank you IfICould2 for sharing this with me and Elvisworldwide for this wounderful video. Thanks so much and I think she has a wounderful idea to help people in Haiti. There is still much to be done. It would be a wounderful thing.

    God Bless and Take Care

  • I had read that they had tried at one time to renovate the Pippin because it was Elvis favorite ride but the cost was just so astronomical it was beyond reach and they decided to dismantle it. It is such a piece of Elvis history and was such a part of his life when he was in town in Memphis. I wish there would have been some way to preserve it . Wouldn't it be nice if all Elvis fans donated 2.00 one for Haiti and one to preserve the Pippin and have it put on display In Elvis museum?

  • Thanks for sharing this IfICould. Enjoyed every bit of it and

wished I could have seen Elvis ride on this. Just to see the

smile on his face and hear his laughter would be a dream come true for all of us.

  • Steve,

    Great Video !!! 5 *****

    Your florida buddy,

    Steve:)

  • I don't understand. but I hear " elvis"?

    Elvis love this?!

WOUOU!! I sorry for my english world .

Rock'n love for you my friend!

  • IFICOULD2,Yes you are right its sad as these coasters are history as they dont make them like this any more & should be preservedTCB/TLC

  • It's rather sad to watch this, the pippin is now being dismantled and simply trashed.. I wonder how many Elvis fans would pay a dollar for just a small piece of this piece of history.? The money raised could be donated to the Haiti Relief Fund in Elvis' honor.. Just an idea.. What do you think my friends, would you pay a dollar for a nut or bolt from this piece of Elvis history.? Exspecially if you knew the money was to be donated in Elvis' memory.? .. It could happen you know.. IF

  • Brilliant! The Red Cross gets the money and the fan who donated gets a genuine piece of Elvis history (and in another sense, a piece of American history because it's one of only two left.).

Graceland gets the car itself to go on display. Tours include a photo in the car.

A read secure email to Mr Dick Soden should get the ball rolling. And since everything is business - can you imagine the publicity? Oh, no. I sound like Parker.

Love your idea, Turn Back Time If I Could.

  • Why Thank you elvisworldwide, yes I believe it would work.. But I like the phone myself, I think I'll be giving Mr, Soden a call first thing in the morning.. Need to work fast, they've already started with the dismantling , I believe.. Thank you for your support.. IF.

  • You betcha. Your passion for insisting that this roller coaster icon meets its demise with dignity is a twofold proposition: First, by serving a greater purpose, that of charitable donations. Second, by ensuring that one of E's favorite diversions is preserved for all time - albeit in pieces, except for the passenger car, which should be secured as an artifact in Graceland's archives and viewable by the public.

You've blown me away with this venture, IF. With you all the way.

  • @elvisworldwide news for elvisworldwide and IFICould2 the ride wasnt trashed.

it was swnt to green bay

  • YES MA'Am

. Elvis would donate to help someone else....so why shouldn't we?

  • This is obviously an old classical video of the Zippin Pippin in its younger years - maybe in the 70's, early 80's, because today, even while it stands unusused, it does not look this good. The rollercoaster train gives the impression that this video is old as well, because they do not look like this now, nor did the Zippin Pippin have air brakes before its discontinued use in 2005.

  • Fantastic! Thanks for your comment. I've wondered about the end of the ride. It appears that the coaster ends differently depending on which video I view. For example, some vids have the coaster ride finish within an enclosed platform while other vids have the coaster ride finish open-air.

There's no doubt that this video shows the coaster similar in form to the time Elvis rode it. Agree?

  • @elvisworldwide My father was on the people who built the pipin and work in liberty land till 2006.

  • @meynard1 - There are so many ways chronicle your dad's life and work. Do it.

  • @elvisworldwide Tell me some.

  • @meynard1 A book. A video, featuring pictures of his work. An exhibit in a museum to contribute to Memphis' posterity. First of all, the Pip was built 1912. Are you sure he worled there until 2006?

  • @elvisworldwide More like 1976 or so well i quess ill give it a try when there´s some free time and he has some newspaper cliping where he´s working on it.

  • Great 5 *****
