How do you study?

Im 16 im planning to have full proficiency by 18..

Right now I use Kanji odyssey, RTK, podcasts, and anki sentences.

Im interested in how you got to that level.

Even you have that certificate and passport of Japan,it does not mean you are accepted as Japanese. You will understand Japan while rising your children and working in Japanese company( Language teacher is a kind of people looking Japan from outside). You have roots on U.S. and think feel as foreigner. If your grand children still live in Japan, they have become and recognized as Japanese. Japan is as that conservative society.

if im correct most japanese people use kanji so learning Hirigana would be pointless.

Yes they do use Kanji, but the Kanji can be broken down into Hiragana. Although this makes the word harder to understand as the Kanji gives it context, but it's still possible if your vocabulary. Besides even in everyday writing Hirigana is a huge part of reading Japanese, in fact it would be impossible to read without knowing Hirigana.

If you have Windows then go into your language settings and add "Japanese" to　yourkeyboard. If your computer is old you might need your Windows CD to install the East Asian characters but it should be OK. Then you click "Show the Language Bar" so you can switch from English to Japanese whenever you want. Also. it's romaji input so it's not too difficult.

Cuz English and other Latin origins with Jp keybroard and Win JP ver. are easy.

But Opposite(2bite code langs) are super difficult!!

Or buy JP PC and Win(JP ver) for JP and other Latin Origins usage. XD
