@raulacedo Ola caro Raula, desculpe-me a demora voce tem razão em sua colocação, mas mesmo com essa diminuicao na temperatura devido a presenca de agua, o desempenho ainda é superior ao do N2O largamente empregado
I meant to concentrate instead of purifying. Also, actually it the biggest problem there to evaporate water away. you talk like you are already an expert in this. if it would be that easy, I would not be asking to chumbica. making high concentration of peroxide from low conc. is not easy and it is dangerous by the way. but I still want to try it as safe sa possible.
And no Peroxide is not as dangerous as proclaimed, the paper/pulp industry handle mega-tons a year without incident at 70% purity. You just need to keep everything clean to oxygen standard, no dust or grease.
Hi there .. well done, although it looks like are getting incomplete decomp of the peroxide. Are you using cat bed and if so what are you using. You may need to legnthen the cat bed or create more surface area to get the peroxide temp up. There was lot of water vapor/ steam there. I would also guess this is causing the sputters as your probably spitting out solid wax thats been cooled by the water vapor..
I've fired a paraffin hybrid and waxed my deck. You need to load the wax with carbon black to stop the radiative heat transfer into the fuel. In a hybrid you want the rate of combustion to be driven by the mass flow rate - and you want the fuel flow to be a result of ablative cooling - i.e. anything that gets hot - melts, vaporizes and burns. This keeps the rest of the fuel cool - and stops the abrupt melt and release of all the fuel all at once. If I can find the tape I'll hoist it.
Projeto fantastico. A água formada não deveria diminuir a reação entre a parafina e o o2 formado pela quebra do peróxido diminuindo a eficiencia ?

What is the exact name of the method you used to purify hydrogen peroxide up to 85%? I want to try that to purify 50% to 80%.

You use Alumina bed as a catalyst? what does this mean? Aluminium?

Nice motor, nice that it keeps a steady expulsion rate throughout too

Shock diamonds at 0:14. Exhaust velocity has gone super sonic at this point. If you can maintain this, you have something.

Looks like the ratio's between the N2O and the feul arn't that good..

Info says that it uses H2O2.

I've got %70 H2O2 were did you get the %85?

It had good combustion for a second I saw the mach diamonds at 0:13 but it seem it flamed out.

You need a higher concentration of h2o2.

No No... it is enough... im using 85% H2O2.. but in this test, i had troubles with tha catalyst pack
chumbica 4 years ago
Yes 85% is more than enough for hybrid use.

Have you made your 85% peroxide by evaporating 30% to 50% stock?. And if so are you using a decomposing cat bed or metal screens?
blactek 4 years ago
No NO...I got 70% h2O2 to start the evaporation
My first test was using silver screens buts it didnt work very well, then i used an Alumina bed and it worked

how about polyethelene?

Yes PE ia a good idea and usually used in hybrid rocket systems... My goal is to reserach an alternative fuel......
Paraffin fuel presents Higher burn rate, that can provide higher thrust level.

I'll bet candle wax would work well... sorta like using roofing tar for a semi solid propellant.

Just an FYI: Paraffin is referred to as Kerosene (almost the same as diesel fuel) in the U.S.
KanzlerM 4 years ago
Ahh yes yes i know... maybe would be better call the fuel as wax?? but it is usual to call it paraffin fuel
Thanks man
