Don’t be thrown by the word release, it’s golf jargon. You’re not releasing the actual club - that could be a tad dangerous!
Releasing the club means turning the right forearm over the left through the hitting of the ball, much like a tennis player would if they played a double handed forehand top spin shot if that helps.
