  • 6:29 really is amazing

  • what kind of tripod is that on your left in the beginning

  • Which metering mode did you use? :)

  • If you have a 2.8 lens and shooting at night, why did you push down to the aperatures you used?

  • i dont think even f 1.2 is enough let alone 2.8 . you need one of those .95 lenses 20K+ cameras :)

  • Yes jared ....u reminded people of ur video on fireworks...i have to say ur video is better than greg's....

  • thanks jared!

  • It's so funny and interesting to watch your videos ! Three legged thing ! lol :'D

  • 5:23 for fireworks image at the right bottom

  • You are at the right bottom of the screen

  • how did you focus during this shoot? Thanks Jared nice video!

  • I only purchased my camera a week or 2 ago and have been really keen to capture some fireworks. Unfortunately I don't have a tripod so the final shots will be more miss that hit but I'll try my luck with a little improvisation haha. I'm only doing it for shits and gigs though. Thanks for the video!

  • New years is 24 hours away will have my camera ready to go.

  • lol @ massive Frongnette :D

  • stumbled upon this video and realized i had a firework photo that i thought was cool i took last july 4th if you go to flicker(dot)com/photos/masongalbraith/5902773383/in/photostream i think you can see it :)

  • just in time for tomorrow

  • Great video, I agree with shooting fireworks. I was lucky to have that day off and come to the place I work at knowing where they had there display at. But your forgetting New Years also for fireworks :)

  • Hey dude , I am sorry to say that . The front groung is not that nice.

you have to chang to the interested front groung. Work to find the place.

Anyway , I love your show.

  • I went aperture priority set at f/5.6, iso 100, in manual focus and captured some really cool images. You can get the timing down quick and get great shots. Timing the shot is important because you want to use the light of the fireworks to drive the shutter speed down. Exposures varied from 2 to 4 seconds, if you hit the shutter early the darkness will drive it up to 10 seconds or more and you'll sit there hating yourself. It's easy to do this just get out there and mess around!

  • why wait for next year? if new year is already coming fire works part 3 , can you tell me what lens you use?

  • Thanks for letting us know AFTER july 4th. -.-

  • Your videos are ALWAYS amazing. Im wanting to be a photographer in the future and im only 16. Your videos have helped SO MUCH. THANK YOUUUUUUUU(:

  • Love it! I didn't get a chance to see any fireworks this year. We have other festivities here in Indianapolis that will shoot fireworks off later on in the month and the next couple months, so there's a chance I'll get to see some and photograph them.

  • Is the 3 Legged Thing available in the US now ?!?

  • @JasonLaurain i dont think so yet. It looks like people really want to see this review on it.

  • @JaredPolin Ya they look great and seem to be priced right. I'd say there is a demand for sure.

  • @JaredPolin wait is the "3 legged thing" a tripod? because i'm very confused..haha

  • That's some beautiful pollution right there

  • Hey Jared and whoever else is reading, just wanted to know your opinion on two lenses. I am buying a wide angle and Can't afford the $1,879 Nikon 14-24 so I have substituted it with the Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 and the Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6, what is your opinion on them? I am leaning towards the Tamron after holding them both at the camera shop.

Also while at the camera shop, I held the Tamron 90mm Macro, and hate it, the focus changer ring thing got Stuck <-Wtf? To buy Nikon 60afs or Sigma 70?

  • i agree! the verticals looks so much more fitting to the situation! good job. some very cool shots!

  • Great shots Jared! Great video as well. :)

  • Grandiozo !!! Thnks !!!!

  • 8 people shot shitty fireworks. Great Job Jared!!!

  • Lot of your shots here shown @f2.8, any reasons

  • @flyingtigerTJ thats the lenses widest f stop its just showing you what lens was used. If you look again you will see the fstop used.

  • now your ready for lighting photos

  • there are many fireworks in Jpn during July-October (mostly concentrated on August) but it is always overcrowded :p

  • what was your d7000 settings

  • @rskmagic manual exposure at like 1/30th thats as low as it lets me take it and prob about 5.6 and just let it roll, the camera can compensate sometimes on its own for light.

  • @JaredPolin could i use my iphone 4 to To Photograph fire works

  • great shots.

  • Awesome pictures Jared. You got some real lookers in there!

  • what do you like better? a flower lens hood or regular lens hood? what are the different uses?

  • What kind of flashlight did you use?

  • off camera flashes are good to get the people in front of you if you flash it once with the test button in the middle of the exposure you don't get the giant dark area in the front with slight shadows..

  • Wow, if you still have that 60D, use that to record your video the output is better,

  • man, cant wait for new year here in holland. its like a battlefield where everybody goes crazy with firework!

is it not allowed to let off your own firework in america?

  • @043maasje043 In some places you can get ticketed for it, but everybody does it anyway...It's illegal in the county I live in and the biggest fireworks store in the state is 5 miles down the road...

  • Great job getting those pictures. Some of them are real cool. And thanx for showing us your settings. That will help alot! To bad I have to wait until New Year to try shooting fireworks :-)

  • fireworks seem too safe in the US... they seemed small, unless its the recession!

  • Can't wait to see that 3 Legged thing Eddie Tripod review.

  • Wow. My subwoofer went nuts in the beginning of the video. Is that the pin mic and only the pin mic picking all that up? If it is, that's some sharp microphone. I watch a lot of movies with my system, and just wanted to point out that all the 80hz stuff and below is kinda getting in the way of you speaking... I don't know if you can run the sound through a EQ in the software you use, but you could just pull down on that just to make the sound match the good visuals.

  • @ZeroG84 it is my wireless sony mic that I was wearing.

  • I spy with my little eye! JARED @ 4:19

  • another tip to share -- wear some bug/mosquito repellent!

  • Has anyone ever temporarily lost interest in photography? I have and I really really want to get back into it, what are really fun things to shoot?

  • @setosail I know its not the answer you expect, and I apologize for not being helpful, but I just HAVE to get rid of this:

... what ever you want! :-)

  • @setosail the point of photography is to make something uninteresting/not-fun look interesting/fun

  • @ashkibala1 I know it's just lately I don't know what to shoot and I want to get back into it but I can't think of subjects.

  • @setosail the easiest thing to start with is to take photos of plants, insects and birds. you don't need to go to anywhere special to see birds and insects because they are everywhere. but you can go to zoo and shoot animals like tiger, monkey, lion, etc. they help you start. maybe you lost your interest because your gear can't keep up with you.

  • what tripod, head is that

  • How do you add the iso shutter speed on the photos? I use light room 3

  • If you are ever traveling to montreal, Canada in the summer, they have a month where once a week they display fireworks from different countries at the amusement park; like China, US, Spain, etc... that is a great time if you are ever interested in practicing Fireworks photography on more than one occasion :)

  • Hah! That's exactly what I had my camera set to :D

  • Alrrrright! Now I'm ready for the 4th of July! OH! Wait...

  • this video would have been useful 3 days ago.

  • @BerkeleyBuilt There was a part 1 a couple of days ago.

  • @BerkeleyBuilt hehe This was his first time :)

  • Nice! I wish we had decent fireworks around here for Canada day that were closer.

  • @BerkeleyBuilt You could have watched it a week ago on his site!

  • @BerkeleyBuilt thats why he made a first video with the tipps ... how should he be able to upload the video earlier than he finished it, anyways?

  • Thanks Jared! Now I have learned a lot thanks!

  • awesome work

  • WOW! Jared look orange!!

  • We all love the Fro!

  • Interesting and informative as always Jared. Thanks for all that you do.
