  • hey, is it possible to not only link the KP3 with the K-PRO, but to also after they are linked use the K-pro as a midi controller for a desktop synth module or a rack synth module such as the ROLAND JP 8080? if so, is there a way (perhaps a mixer) to not only use the K-PRO as just for a midi controller, but also to use the effects and sample banks of the KP3 along with the sounds from the rack synth mod engine to sound the 3 units together without a midi keyboard?

  • seriously agreed with ALL- love the way even you did the cam- this is an outstanding walk thru dooode!

    Love it

  • The play-by play on this demo is fantastically useful. Thank you.

  • Brilliant genius... thanks for the help; didn't know if i could connect these two together and see i can patch the rca's easily and then just a midi cable... very cool! diggin' the vocoder...

  • Nice!! I don't know how I missed this Kaossilator PRO video in my searches. It just popped up in suggestions.

Having lots of fun with my Kaossilator PRO, I've yet to try linking it with anything via the MIDI ports though. I'll have to try what you suggested with my Korg R3 to sync the beats.

  • are you hooking your kaoss and your micro into a mixer or just into each other?

  • Do you recommend the microkorg or the microkorg XL?

  • @ace101guy It depends, if you like portability (With batteries) then the XL. If you do a lot of manual analog tuning (Attack, Realese, Cutoff etc) then the Microkorg. They can both the same however.

  • Just ordered same setup to get start with, Had some difficulties deciding which to order KP3 or kaossilator. Picking between microkorg/xl was easy cos of usb. Been satisfied with that setup mate?

  • @turtzzi yes it's simple & fun. i hope you like playing around with it.

  • Hey I am trying to do same thing. Make my microkorg xll bpm be controlled by kpro. How do you change the settings in microkorg

  • @ReekDaddy805 connect the midi out of the kaossilator to mid in of the microkorg then set microkorg's clock EXT. this way you can set both BPM's using the kaossilator's tempo dial. i find this easier than doing it opposite connection and using microkorg to set the tempo.

  • frackin' awesome...

  • what did you use to record this audio wise?

  • @XLyncasterX plugged to the mic in of the camera from audio out of the kaossilator using a rca - stereo jack cable.

  • this is raaaaad beyond belief. what did you use to loop this??

    you are a master

  • @blg323 kaossilator has a 4 channel loop recorder.

  • So Iv just purchased a budget version of this kit! A Casio VL-Tone and a Kaoss Pad mini with the line in and Line out. Now can I do the same as you albeit sounding not so good with my setup? Do I just need to hook the Casio up to the Kaoss pad and away I go? Sorry to sound thick but Im a newb to this stuff. Did a lot of vinyl mixing and tracking software in my teens but that was over 10 years ago!

  • @RibNSpicY when you hook up casio VL-Tone to the Kaoss Pad you should be able to tweak the sounds that are generated by the Casio using your Kaoss Pad which makes it a bit different setup than this one. Kaoss Pad mini has one single channel for recording as far as I know. You can use this channel to record over and over adding to the loop yet you cannot separate the loops afterwards. Have fun. Please post a video of your setup I'd love to see how it works and sounds.

  • man this is supeeeer another melody??????when?!

  • DONT USE KORG KAOSS BUILT IN DRUM LOOPS. EVERYTHING ELSE IS OKAY. im sorry for shouting.

  • great video :)

I have a question though, in your description it says, you made it out of the box. does that mean you don't need to connect the kaossilator via a pc to the microkorg xl and can play just like that? I'm asking because I'm thinking about buying the kaossilator. thank you :)

  • @CutMeFromEarToEar Correction, he said and I quote, "almost out-of-the-box setup."

  • @CutMeFromEarToEar you don'T need a pc. there is no pc in this setup. simply audio out to audio in. they are also connected with a midi cable to sync the beats. cheers.

  • i have a kaoss pad 3, the effects processor. seeing this makes me want a kaossilator pro!! i use the KP3 for effects, transitions mainly...great tool!! cool mix man, keep it up! oh ya. nice beard to!!

  • and they say all rap sounds the same...this seriously sounds like a beat that you would find on a low shelf game in japan...

  • Nice freestyle. I rock the same setup and add Reason/Record Duo to the mix. The only thing you could have done better is get a black XL to match the Kaos :-P Nice beard. Wish I could grow one without looking like white trash. Happy trails, friend.

  • a beardyman on microkorg! i like it :)

  • omg this is great. I have a similar setup to this, but I have a mini kaoss pad between the two. you don't have to, you should check out some of my videos.

  • Super:10/10.

  • same beat and bass line for 7 minutes...i'm sorry, but you did nothing here.

  • @TheWiseBlazer Well, he explains he just set the stuff up. Where's your video reply to show how it's done ?

  • @noaidie if i had over $1,000 to spend on the equipment he has, i would gladly post a video to show how it is done.

  • @noaidie buy me the equipment and i'll gladly make one

  • cuttingbitch...

  • @aliyorgo so how is it that the Kaossilator records the Microkorg? is it midi in our something else?

  • @AndresJRdz it's audio samples. you can save them on a card and use them elsewhere. they are wav format.

  • What's the software you're using to loop and record with, I myself have a Microkorg XL @aliyorgo

  • @AndresJRdz loops are recorded to the kaossilator pro. no software in this setup.

  • when you input the sounds from your mkxl through your kpro do you get the sound through both left and right speakers?

  • @jpwinnebago yes it's stereo in and out.

  • Can you record loops on just the microkorg, or is something else needed?

  • @24trivium24 loops are recorded on kaossilator. microkorg just generates many syth sounds. it's a basic synthesizer. there are alternatives to kasossilator to record loops like the boss loop station or using a pc and ableton live but i find using kaossilator easiest and cheapest compared to these alternatives. and its also a phrase sequencer with over 100 sound programs that you don't get on boss loop station.

  • @playthekicks that's microkorg but sorry i don't know the patch settings.

  • Got a question, I have a Kaossilator Pro, and saving up to buy the Micro Korg Xl, but I am wandering about a mixer as well, Is it necessary to plug into a mixer, say a Peavy PV10 for example if I am wanting to hook up my guitar and still get Delay/Reverbs for sound. I guess what Im asking is for a little advice on how your set up goes, if I'm to build mine? Anyway thanx Im not looking to steal Ideas i just need help on setting up.

  • @hashishin777 a mixer is always handy but this specific setup doesn't need a mixer. microkorg plugs into the line in of the kaossilator. and a midi connection to sync the clocks. thats it.

you can plug your guitar into the kaossilator's mic in. you choose either mic or line in to be able to use the kaossilator's built in effects. when you do so you will lose the line in sound from the microkorg. a mixer won't solve this problem either.

  • hi pal. Im a bass palyer and Im struggling my way to synthesizers. I just got the KAOSS PRO and I have a question. Other than the obvious difference of keyboard-keypad which is the main constraint of the second, do the functions of these two overlap or they can do different things? thank you brother

  • @akypar microkorg is a full feature mini synthesizer meaning you can create your own sounds. kaossilator is somewhat different. it has fixed sounds that you can choose from. kaossilator has loops and others cool features that the microkorg doesnt have. if you want to create your own original sounds you will want a microkorg at some point. if you need something to accompany your bass kaossilator will do the trick for a long time i think.

  • Sweeeeeet!

  • can you use the kaossilator pro and a microkorg stright to an amp with a 1/4 jack? any feedback would be really appreciated cos i'm thinking about getting a kaossilator pro and already have the microkorg.

    thanks

  • @pinkmoonfan1 kaossilator's line in is RCA so you would need a RCA to 1/4 Jack cable. kaossilator's line out is also RCA.

  • Comment removed

  • @aliyorgo cheers dude thanks and i'm just assuming the rca's a 1/8"?

  • @pinkmoonfan1 not sure what you mean, it's a standard coaxial cable with RCA plugs on it.

  • i couldn't figue out why u were splicing the video

  • @newnewworldsymphony

I bet he made so many mistakes he had to cut it out lol, sure looks like it

  • @Cityj0hn exactly.

  • Seriously cool man

  • Yeah, I also have the beige edition ^^

Nice sound ;) We can have fun with this combo :D

  • @vijayweemhoff there is no software in this setup.

  • Not to be an ass of any form:

But this is the reason I didn't buy the Kaossilator Pro, you interrupt your video plenty of times for the progression, due to some of the constraints of the Kaossilator Pro. Dude, you are doing pretty well, but you should buy a sequencer of some form... Electribe, Groovebox or Rm1x/RS7000?

Hope you aren't mad... This isn't meant to criticize your style or anything.

  • @LockHoodlum i know man. i'm trying to integrate launchpad into the equation these days for live variety. kaossilator is lots of fun to play with just by itself too though.

  • Could you tell me what kind of bass you are using from the microkorg xl in this demo pls.Can u also make a dubstep woble bass with the xl?Thank you

  • @danfob1 A * D'N'B / Breaks * Bass

  • @danfob1

Wobble Basses can in general be easily created with any VA or Analougue synth. Take two sine waves (or sawtooth) and detune one of the two Oscillators a bit. (Tune them -1 or -2 octaves down btw). Then apply your Cutoff filter and let one of the LFO's determine the depth of your cutoff filter. Link your Modwheel to the LFO speed... Presto you got a basic wobble bass. Play around with some filters & fx to give it the edge it needs.

  • Hey please reply, im about to buy the Microkorg, not the XL but im assuming this relates to both models. will i be able to connect the synth to a speaker using a jack lead and get a decent volume from it?

  • @ItBeReece speakers need to be active ones meaning you need an amplifier. you cant just connect to passive speakers. you can still get sound from headphones if you dont have active speakers or an amp.

  • yo i just bought an xl and i feel like im havenin trouble gettin the vocorder to work really good not anywhere near as good as yours any tips??????????

  • @providenceflims i'm just using the default settings in the video so it should work exactly as it is right out of the box.

  • Thanks for your response, really appreciated. Still think its a case of just getting my hands on and figuring it all out for myself. Just wish i could borrow someone like yourself to show me around initially, then i'd be on my way. As i say, your video is a great demonstration of what you can do when these two machine's are hooked up together but what i'd really find helpful is a "technical breakdown" of sorts i.e - a video to simply demonstrate and explain the set up process (synching etc). S

  • i attached kaossilator midi out to microkorg midi in. midi settings of the microkorg xl has a clock thing which i think the original also has, only difference should be the usb. then i put that clock value to auto, then it gets clock data from external source. this does the basic setup.

then on the kaossilator there are midi settings to prevent the kaossilator to control programs and keys etc. these are gravy once you get the basic setup to work.

    good luck, have fun.

  • Me again. I've just read the section on synchronising the arpeggiator in the microkorg manual which states i should refer to the manual of the external midi device i want to synch (master/slave etc). I guess i can suss this out when i have the KoPro manual at hand. F##k! I've stoped making sense! Would you be willing to post a video on how to " make a few changes in the midi settings to allow Microkorg to get only the clock from midi out of the Kaossilator Pro to match the arpeggiators' BPMs"

  • That was amazing. You are doing what i want to do, exactly what i want to do, but i have so many questions. I am confused. Firstly, i have the original microkorg and am thinking of buying the KoPro - do these both link up (i think they might). Secondly, all this talk of changes in the midi settings and clocks and matching the appregiator's BPMs is just scary! Could you help me by braking it down into layman's term's please (or just simple talk for a beginner). Cheers

  • ive got a microkorg and the kaoss pad 3......best fun you will every have!! enjoy
