RayCrosby..........were closer.......we can be in the same unit for 10 or 20 years and we live close to each other and in some cases grown up together or even have alot of family in the gaurd..........i used to think the same way when i was active.
BigChiefMike..........we have alot of former active duty in the Gaurd.....marines, airforce, navy.........like my unit.......we have former SF, Ranger.....we even have vietnam vets.....all that knowledge and exp. in one unit ....we are high speed asshole......my active unit sucked..my gaurd unit is badass.
At least reservists, for the most part, realize the are part time soldiers. National Guard thinks they are all high speed bad asses... annoying is more like it.
Correction: I have very few respect for weekend warriors due how many make the few look so ate up down range, and out in sector. Many ANG, AR combat MOS (Infantry,Scout,Field Artillery,Combat Eng, Avenagers) joe's come down range talking big shit protraying they know more then full time combat soldiers. It's one thing to be humble and learn from one another, and it's another to act like to do training all year around but only train for maybe a months with some guys you barely know.
The armor around those machine guns look too thin to stop a bullet. looks like only about 1/4 inch thick. Anyone in the military know if that armor is any good? Any experience with that?
Oh man, I don't miss the stupid esprit de corps stuff. If a BN Commander or SGM want to motivate any group of infantrymen they would pass out beer and say "You know where we're going, and what we have to do. Don't fuck this up."
