The Iphone sucks Not even so much because of at&t. It sucks because apple doesnt allow you to get software from anyone BUT them. they maintain Psychopathic amounts of control over the device.. telling you what you can, and cannot do with it's software, and settings, supposedly for your own good. All it does is prevent you from customizing it in ways that MIGHT make it work better. When Apple starts following Android's example I might CONISIDER owning an apple device of some kind... MAYBE.

@sensedeparted Yes, all of them fair points - & thank you for letting me know all this. When some of these "iPhone Groupies" started posting (& messaging me direct: you wouldn't believe how pissed off they were because I had the audacity to criticize the great & mighty Apple!) I thought maybe I was missing something or was technologically inept. As more & more people related similiar complaints to me, it became clear: the iPhone - coupled with AT&T service - leaves a lot to be desired! Uh, FAIL!

@emjaabel98 Actually, though, WaffleWoWa makes a fair point: it's not the phone itself, it's AT&T's crappy service/signal (or lack thereof) that is the crux of the problem. (I sort of feel like John Lennon who wrote "I Am The Walrus", based on the Lewis Carroll poem "The Walrus & The Carpenter", only to find that it was the CARPENTER who was the "good guy" - and not the Walrus. I guess it's better than singing "I Am The Carpenter" - but I digress.........)

Sucks" - although I've noticed that since Verizon has come out with it's own iPhone that most comparisons show a noticeable drop in dropped call numbers. So "F" AT&T, too, while we're at it - I guess it's a combinaion of software issues PLUS a network that's not strong enough to handle this particular technology. Bottom line? It sucks, man.

@WaffleWoWa Fair point - unfortunately I jumped the gun and jumped to Verizon BEFORE they came out with their iPhone. The Droid doesn't have as many cool features as the iPhone, sure - but I am a LOT happier with the fact that I can actually get a signal with it. Maybe when I'm eligible for an upgrade I'll take the plunge again.

I finally had to take it to Apple and THEY even told me I had gotten a lemon. Face it, iPhones suck. I have a Droid now and I'm much happier. Hey, in the end, my g/f and I had a great time making that video - we STILL laugh when we see it!

@Paulkid94 Well, if you saw my reply (below) I tried all of that - and more - and Apple finally had to replace the phone. Believe me, I've been down this road before with he iCrap. Had 5 of them within 2 years before I finally said "F#$k it" and got a Droid. And while the Droid is far from perfect, at least: a.) I can get a signal (take THAT AT&T!) and, b.) It hasn't frozen or jammed up on me (yet). Es todo bien (it's all good!).

I also tried holding the home and standby buttons, simultaneously for 10 seconds - usually longer - and then even one at a time (when the process didn't work). I finally had to go to the Apple Store - and they even admitted they had never seen anything like it. They had to open the phone up and reset everything - with their apologies. Thanks for asking, thought, Chppy!

May i suggest? although too late... if you had simultaneously held down the power button and the home button at the same time it would have reset the phone to its original state in terms of it functioning properly.. you wouldnt have lost anything. but i still agree iphone sucks LOL...

@warwick2155 Absolutely! That's why after 4 iPhones in less than 2 years, I switched back to Verizon - not that the Droid is any better (it isn't) - but at least I can get a signal - which means I can make and get phone calls (which is what I thought a phone was invented for!).

hehe. Iphones are especially bad in NYC, as AT&T just cannot handle the huge number of trendy urban iphone users, and their statistically high usage of the network, data downloads, etc. I tried it in upstate new york, and didn't get one dropped call. If you live in NYC area, and are at all dependent on your phone for business purposes, forget it. You'll lose clients left and right.
