"Disaster Tourism" is probably a song about wisdom or some new revelation calling to a man lost in hedonism. While this new revelation does not make sense, the man still replies. Aaron stated in an interview at Purple Door '05 that this song was based on a trip he took to the Red Light District in Amsterdam. -mewithoutYou's wikipedia page.
So intense. This is such an interesting band. The band itself usually has to take care of melodic interest due to the vocal style. They've developed such a lush sound.
It's about preparing for the worst and seeing sin before you commit it. Noah was told by God to build an ark, even though there was no sign of Rain. Save the society even though there's no sign of damnation, is kind of what it's portraying.
Hey, that's a great interpretation. So then part two of the morale is that even by works we still fall short of the glory of god? And so the balloon kind of represents Christ's gift of salvation? Anyways kudos.
The fade out is on the next track on the album and i'm guessing that's why this gets cut short. This makes a lot of sense if what mpaul said below is true about this being a DIY video by norma jean. Still, good video and WONDERFUL song.
The video was made by Norma Jean in their Garage for Mewithoutyou. Mewithoutyou was not consulted at all about the specifics of the video. I watched a behind the scenes DVD that had this song on it.
Well done. I have to admit I find many of your other videos cliche, narcissistic and pretentious, but this one is really good. You would be better served by doing more things like this.
Well, at least this video took some effort; I was trying to be nice. The others are horribly pretentious...they make for a good laugh. I can't pretend to nice; they are just that bad.
...are you going to answer my question or just repeat what you've already said? i realize you think they are narcissistic and pretentious. i'm asking you WHAT ABOUT THEM makes you feel that way? god don't tell me i'm dealing with another shit-for-brains teenager here. it's a simple question, dude. what...about...them...makes...them...pretentious?
Errr...were to begin. With this guy The two Radiohead lip-synch videos are the worst. Why is it pretentious and narcissistic you ask? Well the narcissistic comment comes from the fact that the dude films himself lip synching a song and posts it on YouTube thinking that someone would be really interested in it. This guy seems to think that he is really interesting to others, so much so that he takes time out of his day to film this awful display of self love.
It's like he is pretending to be some sort of "rock star"....perfectly normal for a teenager, but incredibly silly for anyone much older. I feel bad for the guy watching it (for as long as I can stomach). If you notice, most of his videos focus on himself. Even if they don't focus on him, he will eventually make an appearance. *groan*
This "art douche" is entirely pretentious. The fact that you need to ask seems to indicate that you have not watched a music video, or film during the entirety of your life. The overwhelming use of overused video clichés, and cheesy effects is slopped on thick. The dude is trying to shine these horrible videos into something that looks emotional, or trendy, but ends up looking like something familiar but poorly done.
They lack any importance or distinction. However, I will say that his videos are both good and original, but the part that is good is not original and the part that is original is not good.
You might want to read the other comments on his various pages if you are still confused. I don't feel like harping on this dude anymore; others are doing it much more effectively.
perhaps you should look up "pretentious" at dictionary dot com. i know it's a good buzzword for these days for something another person doesn't understand, but that's no excuse to throw the word around like you actually understand its meaning. not trying to personally attack you dude, but so many people don't THINK before they speak. i'm hoping you're not one of them.
FYI the person that posted the video didn't make it. So you should maybe understand that when you stated this video was pretenious and narcissistic, other people pick that up as you making a statement about mewithoutyou the band, not the guy that posted it. Maybe instead of making such a huge argument, you should figure out why you're fighting? communication works if you try it dude.
Thanks for sharing your great wisdom, and thanks for being condescending! But anyways, never heard of the band mewithoutyou and therefore don't have an opinion about their music. Calms down fan boys! The guy who posted it has some pretty horrible stuff, but I thought this was his best (relatively)...apparently I was being optimistic that this was his as well. The narccistic and pretensious comment was aimed at the posters other videos; they are not aimed at the band mewithoutyou. sheesh!
Just trying to help you out, seemed there was some sort of miscommunication. yeah, the guys other stuff isn't that great, kinda hit a sore note with me too.
yeah casey mcbride from cool hand luke and daniel davison of norma jean. i am friends with casey's younger brother jordan mcbride. the interesting connection here?...the oldest brother jesse mcbride is the road/tour manager of norma jean

pretty sure the dude was referring to the music going well with stop motion, not the dude who directed it, who is no longer in norma jean anyway!
