You're comparing him to Tyrus Thomas a guy who only made a name for himself in the NCAA tournament? Oden has been regarded as a top notch big man even before he stepped foot in high school.
The guys from ESPN unanimously said that Durant will be better than Oden in the short-term. So you are right. The same guys also unanimously said that Oden will be better in the long-term. That counts much more than the short-term.
thats a good point. NBA needs more centers, and oden is likely to be picked first. But lets look on the other hand here, Blazers already have a dominant PF, Randolph, they need a young small leader, but he might ride the bench. Sonics need a center so bad, so oden might end up there. We'll see next month of when the draft comes. I still think Durant get's first pick.

Its a shame that Blazers got first pick. These future NBA rookies will need all the TV time, and publicity they can get in order to get noticed. I just dont see Blazers games being televised nationwide...... congratulations Portland, you guys actually have a player worth watching your team for now.

i don't know man its a close one. blazers already have lamarcus aldrige who is a future star and zach randolph in there fronto court so i see them needing durant. im really excited to see who the blazers pick.

but aldridge isnt a center they need a good center aldrige is too skinny and not tall enough they need someone to intimidate players like kobe, labron, and anyone brave enough to bring it into the paint.

oh shut the fuck up.. kevin durant is close to the same height as Greg, hes ALOT quicker, and he has more endurance... Greg is slow, and long... Kevin has alot of tricks up his sleeve if he runs into Greg... you dont think he has thought about that yet?

You are not crediting him enough. He has a vision, like Okafor, blocks are 2nd nature. This was just 1 of many during the tournament.
I predict he will be the next best center in the league. The kid is sick.

One of the dumbest assessments of Oden I've ever seen.
First of all he's listed at 7'1 270 pounds, that's significantly bigger than Durant.
You're comparing him to Tyrus Thomas a guy who only made a name for himself in the NCAA tournament? Oden has been regarded as a top notch big man even before he stepped foot in high school.

The guys from ESPN unanimously said that Durant will be better than Oden in the short-term. So you are right. The same guys also unanimously said that Oden will be better in the long-term. That counts much more than the short-term.

thats a good point. NBA needs more centers, and oden is likely to be picked first. But lets look on the other hand here, Blazers already have a dominant PF, Randolph, they need a young small leader, but he might ride the bench. Sonics need a center so bad, so oden might end up there. We'll see next month of when the draft comes. I still think Durant get's first pick.

Lets compare the statistics now: Durant is a 6'9", 220 pound shooting guard/small forward. Oden is a 7'0", 280 pound Center. No much difference there, just like not much difference between Larry Bird/Magic Johnson and Patrick Ewing/Hakeem Olajuwon, right? Isn't that essentially what you're saying? Apparently the fact that Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were quicker than Ewing and Olajuwon didnt keep Ewing and Olajuwon from being two of the greatest CENTERS to ever live.

Oden is going to have to get a lot better on offense if he is going to be a superstar in the league. His defense will be awesome, but I see him being more like the next Mutombo than the next Shaq, Ewing, David Robinson, or whoever ESPN compares him to next.

Let's ask the Big 3 in Florida if Greg Oden is good enough on offense....
He played 3/4th of the damned season with one hand and was JUST starting to shoot free throws with his natural hand in the Big Ten tournament.
Oden will be better than Durant. Durant is Jalen Rose without the shooting touch.

actually... odens numbers are better than durants in almost every category, including the full court sprint, and many agility tests. if you don't believe me try doing a little research. GO PORTLAND!
