  • You dont need a tying machine..all you need are spawn sack material, scissors, magic thread..its not that complicated.

  • @123max9 Not sure what to say about your inability to operate such a simple machine!

  • I use loose, mature eggs milked from the female salmon or trout.

  • How do you separate the eggs from the skein???

  • anyone disliking this video needs to give thier head a shake, this guy did a great job with this clip!

  • you dont need a tying machine

  • @TiaaLeigh that is true, but the machine makes it very easy and it costs about $10. I addition, the egg sacs are a consistent shape and size. That makes them more effective.

  • what does the tying machine come with???

  • @flyfisher4life1 Nothing. You will need to purchase the material and tying thread.

  • Thank you very much

  • how do you keep the eggs fresh when you get them from the fish

  • @spenc98fishing

Borax, pickling salt, Pro Cure, etc. all work. The exact recipe is a matter of personal preference. Just Google salmon egg cure and pick one. I like borax or salt, but I have use many other chemicals.

  • what is skein?

  • @stillrob420 Skein is the membrane that holds the salmon or trout eggs together inside the fish.

  • what brand name is the tying machine?

  • @BCER83

    Spawnee

  • u dont even need that machine look at roadsnake90roadsnakes video on it

  • I guess not, but it sure makes it easy to tie sacs!

  • Man this brings back a rush of memories. I killed alot of browns doing this, and I'm not talking trout. I was totally addicted to steelheading! I had a fridge full of different roe. Seven rods, multiple reels, waders, vests etc...! haven been down to the rivers for at least 16 years! But, I'm seriously going to get back into it again! It gets in your blood, and stays there. I guess I can blame YOUTUBE for it!!

  • can anyone send me an easy video on how to tie a glo bug for steelhead as soon as possible. Thank you

  • I am new to this whole concept. So, please tell me, anyone.

Where do you get fresh eggs?

    Are they salmon eggs?

    How do you treat them?

Can you freeze them after treating them or how can you store them if not freezing?

What material is the sack made out of?

I live in Florida Keys and what we fish for down here is much different than what you guys do up north.

    Regards.

  • well i can tell u were u get the eggs you cut open a female steelhead and take the eggs

  • Correct, but the fish is eaten and not discarded.

  • I just tried tying egg sacks myself with just my hands and let me tell you it was the most frustrating thing ever. I need to get one of these machines. Also where do you get this "MAGIC THREAD"?

  • great video.....

  • do you only have to put one little scoop in or could you put in more?

  • Less is always best when it comes to egg sacs. If your finished sac is about the size of a dime or smaller, you will catch fish. When fish are active they will attack the small bags, when they are selective, they will prefer a smaller presentation. Make them small and cover all your bases! At least that is what I think. I have seen guys fish with a golfball sized piece of skien and catch fish.

  • great video..im thinking about starting to make my own eggs sacks now. thanks alot

  • good luck. Start with fresh eggs, always treat the eggs before freezing and tie small bags and you will catch plenty of steelhead and regular trout.

  • great video!

  • good, I hope it helped you.
