I'll have to try that on my CVP and see if that's possible. I know I've been able to import text and make the CVP show the lyrics on the screen. Also, I've been able to change the notation view to display the notes for different tracks/parts on sequences, so it would seem logical to make the lights operate on one particular track. I'll experiment and get back to you. Great idea!
@alphasxsignal The MSRP of the Yamaha CVP 509 is $11,997. Usually, the store will give you a discount. So, you can probably get it right around the $8,000-$9,000 range.
@alphasxsignal Yes. That is a few bucks. It's way out of my range. I would either get the 501 or the 503. They are more for the beginners of the Clavinova series. The 505 and 509 are the more advanced ones.
The Kronos and Tyros 4 are good pianos, but aren't full ones. Are you more of a piano guy or synthesizer guy?
Great demo! I am searching the internet and can't find prices on ANYTHING!
I am looking at the Yamaha DGX 640; it's in my price range. But then again, I would like to get a nice piano with nice sound. What are the prices on the Yamaha CVP 501, 503, 505, 509? What is the price on the Yamaha CVP 401, 403, 405, 409? Which one is the cheapest next from the DGX 640 to the CVP series? I was looking at the CVP 501. I don't want to spend over $3,000.
For our store The 501s start at $3299 + shipping, unless you are in Texas (then shipping is free). Call or email me for more info. Is there anything else I can do for you?
For sure you can export going out of your MIDI port on 301. You'll need a MIDI to USB cable to interface your clav to the pc. There's no USB port on the 301 clav
This is a great presentation man, thanks. I did not know you could output the display to an external screen, that's nice.
Do you have any personal feedback on the lights/learning mode for the Clavinova CVP series. Can you like input any music score in the Clavinova to learn to play it?
Could you please do a demo on how to record multi tracks on the clavinova? There are very scant instructions on how to do this in the manual. I would like to record piano, then add harp voice to it while playing it back, then add a flute when listening to those play back.
Every time i record a song with the guitar sounds on this, for some reason they change when i try to copy and paste it in the function-digital recording menu-song creator-1-16 section, i really dont want to play the same riff for 4 minutes, any advice??
so how do you even get the music onto the flashdrive? I understand how to hook it up to the clavinova but i was wondering where you have to get the music from? could u stick in the flashdrive and get a song from itunes and use that? or is there a certain place you have to get the music from and i want the notes to the song too...is that possible also?
Yes, you can pull MIDI files off of the internet and load them into the clavinova. There are a few places that have them for free. It's great for doing karaoke stuff...
Hello, i have a cvp 401, and i was wondering if its possible to save your recordings as a .wav rather than a .midi file? is there a way to do this? thx :)
Hi there, yes you can save your recordings as a .wav but only if you stick a thumb/flash drive into the usb port. A window pops up on the screen, and you simply click 'record'. When you're done, the window prompts you to click 'save' and that's it. It's really as simple as it sounds. I'll try and make a tutorial on it in the next few days/weeks...
I have a CVP 303 and unfortunately, it doesn't record vocal. It has a Karaoke function to sing along though.
Nice demo.

I wonder if there is a way to have the melody show on the lights and turn of
the lead if Im going to sing along. I downloaded a song from the yamaha music
site but only the lead note play with the lights.
Would be nice to learn other parts of a song besides just the lead notes. Is
there a way to do that on a CVP-207?

@Glambert1102 That is a few bucks. Im also looking at the Tryos 4 and also a Korg KRONOS so
will have to decide. Thanks

@Glambert1102 Both.
alphasxsignal 9 months ago
@alphasxsignal Oh. Well then, I suppose it's kind of up to you. I would go with the CVP first, and then go with the Kronos or the Tyros 4 next.
Glambert1102 9 months ago
@Glambert1102 I like the 509 but that is a bit of money for it and they don't seem to hold value
that good. The Tyros 4 seems to be more up to date with interface to the outside world but only
comes in the 64key which is to bad.
My CVP-207 is nice but one problem I see with Clavinova is its not real expandable. The Tyros 4 seems
to have companies writing patches for it and you can load them in and update it and new things
come along. regitech makes them for it.

Oh yes, it has the vocorder feature built in. I decided to detail it because the manual hardly mentions anything about it at all...!
