@HarveyBritRocker it's originally a Deep Purple song. He was in Deep Purple at the time so it's just as much his song. The main lead vocals for the song were taken on by David Coverdale at the time though.
Coverdale was/is a great singer and although i like the original DP version better i don't think that Coverdale is even half the singer that Hughes is,the guy has a range and feel no other rock singer can touch.

Listen to Robert Plant, Ozzy, Dio (RIP), Ian Gillan, Paul Rogers, Freddie Mercury (RIP), Steven Tyler, Bon Scott(RIP), Brian Johnson, Rob Halford, Klaus Meine & Coverdale (Circa '74-87) & even the album he did w/ Page is really good & underrated! this is the greatest rock singer of all time...i've followed glenn hughes from his earliest days in trapeze,in the 70's and i never cease to be amazed by his voice...he could literally 'sing the phonebook'.

This is at the end of the song and has nothing to do with the actual arangement of it!! It is purely something Glenn does for himself and his fans as he knows it's popular. It clearly demonstrates he has a remarkable voice and range too!! Voice of Rock, whether you like this or not you can never deny the guy is a superb musician. It's all down to taste, we're all different. Peace.

The vocal range of Glenn Hughes is amazing but I prefer thousands times David Coverdale version. About a new DP reunion I think it's impossible... anybody thinks that GH wants to be a second voice again?

The deal is this, i love Glenn Hughes! LOL Music and the arrangements in music are like art Old Age. One person can look at the same thing and think 2 exact opposites. I think you need to just settle down and enjoy life, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

I can appreciate that not everyone will like Glenns voice, thats all down to personal taste, but this demonstration of all the tones he can get using his voice as an instrument is just phenomenal.
in a league of his own when it comes to versatility...
