When SLY put those stairs in your house (and you got mad and put that obsidian in his house) he gave you those because you said you needed more wood to build with.

So when you said you needed more wood to build with, he came right over and gave you a bunch of wood so you could chop up the stairs and have wooden planks to build with.

I think you took it wrong. He was just trying to help give you materials. :(
