  • Great job bro!

  • I think the fact that you have barely a fraction of the kit that Mr. Peart has, ( or some of the ass clowns who cover this song ) and you can still cover it like a fucking madman probably makes you the best in my book, keep it up man

  • Im setting here with 3 shots of wild turkey and 4 cold beers in my gut. Watching you takes me back to my teen years in the 80's, you're awesome son keep burning it up, thanks for the good memories!!!

  • nice playing! Enjoyed it. though the muffling of the snare is NOT good. let it ring !

  • i love playing this song, and i definitely enjoyed watching you play it. great job, dude. and any body who thinks you sped this up is a moron. this song isn't a very fast song.

  • great job on this classic

  • Nice job covering that one! Great sense of time. I like you..You did your homework!!

  • holy shit dude nice!

  • Great !

  • Dude iv been a musician for20 years now and I think that was awsome. you are a rare breed indeed. Keep it up

  • you should get a better sounding set! i'd buy it for you!

  • ROCK ON MAN! AWSOME DRUM PLAYING!!!!

  • Wonderfull job man!! Well done, and a classy tribute to a hell of a drummer.

  • very nice indeed

i dont think ur fill at the end was spe up was perfect nice job

  • Well done.

  • dude he totally sped that up look at the fill at the end of the song theres just no way!!

  • Where are your drumming videos?

  • LOL no he doesn't!

  • he didn't speed it up, the track is mixed in with his drumming in this vid. He just did the outro a little faster than the original track.

  • Your one of the rare drummers that gets it.

Not like most of these drumming clowns around here....

    Great attention to detail.

  • I'm not a musician but I am a big Rush and Neil Peart fan. Very impressive. Keep up the good work.

  • dude, it's tight as ever. i study neil like crazy and listen to his part alone in all their songs. you did a great job bro

  • Awesome!

  • Nice job. It would be cool if you outlined how the 2nd fill at the end is played. Few drummers ever play it right, and I can't figure out how it's played, but you have it right. It's the fill pattern between the tom roll and the quads.

  • I agree with richro65. I have been trying to...sort of...air drum to this song, and can never really comprehend that 2nd ending fill.

An instructional bit about that part would be sweet.

  • I will post a video with the rhythm for it played slow and at normal speed.

  • good skills ur snare is shit though lol

  • Just a little top mute is all, although I always did like a tom feel & sounding snare, but for any peart it needs to be deadened.

  • It doesn't sound bad in person. It's just the camera audio which is terrible. When I go home from college over winter break I think I am gonna make some new ones :)

  • dude....dude.....u the r the drummer man!!!....mad skills bro..i watch alot of your shit and your warm ups on the pads..u really dope man...fuck the nay sayers bro...hang loose...

  • A year ago I discovered this and gave you kudos; I made a polite request for 'Passage To Bangkok', preferably the live version, and I'm still waiting...unless you want detention, please comply.

As someone who can't play music, but knows what's good when I hear it or see it, I always enjoy your vid.

    Cheers kid,

    The Brit.

  • I really am working on it! I am at college now and don't have much time to go home and record and edit video at the moment. Hopefully I can do that for you soon! Sorry to keep you waiting! Thanks for watching.

  • Why did you take off Marathon? Put it back up! HAHA!

  • It's still up haha

  • Oh wow I am retarded....

  • At least I thought it was. I can't find it! I think it disapeared somehow.... :/

  • I couldn't find it either but I have it as a favorite. Anyway, keep it up. You're one bad ass on the drums!

  • this is great, nice work!!

  • If there were any mistakes they were almost unnoticable. Awesome job keep up the good work.

  • Outstanding! A pleasure to hear and watch you play. You're only going to get better as you age.

  • Of course he is an great drummer but what amazes me more is the capacity to take each stroke to the maximum fidelity and timing.

He must be a hard-die fan of NP.

  • sounds great dude. don't be afraid to follow with your stroke, especially when hitting the cymbals. the drums will give great rebound too.

  • I really hope to see you on tour someday dude, alittle tight but it works for ya man. Keep up the great work! Neil would be proud of you!!

  • can anyone say "prodigy"?

  • nick, go join a band and start doing your own licks, bra! That's some good drumming. Go make a mark for yourself, dude.

  • Great job man.

Get more vids up bud. Wasted talent right there. ;)

  • that was the best i've seen it done yet! great job.. but you look kinda stiff? but if that's the way you play... it fricken works. haha

  • it pisses me off how sick ass drummers like you cant get a real good set and cymbals, then joker ass drummers get freakin paistes nd thousand dollar sets. i feel you bro man your siiiicck

  • Great job dude.Nicely done with ending section.

  • Awesome job. You look stiff, but whatever works. You were perfect.

  • good job but you look kinda tight

try gettin your moeller better and you might feel a bit looser

  • Perfect I like your kind of robot style!

  • nice!

  • neil peart would be proud!

  • Neil Peart would be proud of this.

  • HELL YES!! great job!!

  • The best limelight on YouTube, for sure! You are a very good drummer dude!

    Keep it up!!

  • no, martin periard does it better, and so does neil peart. it's the third best probably, but ditch the duct tape dude. i use duct tape for my bongs, not my drums. get some studio rings.

  • lmao

  • drummerforpeace? Go drum for a hand grenade, then stick it up your ass.

  • Thanks to all! :)

  • great!!!

  • Dude! you have a really bright future in front of you. Study as much as you can and you will have an awesome career. I wish I studied and practiced my rudiments more. Someone as young as you to be that good is rare. Stay the coarse!!!!

  • well done

  • great job dude.

  • WOW.Your awsome dude. Great Job!

  • that was sick

  • u have an interesting setup

    but u rock!

  • NICE! excellent choice of songs and very very nicely done.. thanks for sharing. rock on dude!

  • thanks for the feedback all :)

  • nice dude!!!!!!! how old r you? you look young

  • 17 now, 16 when I posted this

  • very nicely done. i've been playin for 20 plus years, and couldn't have done it better myself. keep it up my man...

  • Whoa......you are incredible!

  • omg wow man that was insane, u really rip on the drums man...i play also self taught and ive always tried to get that song rite...very nice, keep no rockin bro

  • fuckin awsome i wish i was as good as u

  • Nick owns! Though he knows i rock his set better than him =P

  • U dont do everything the same as neil, which is a good thing, u sound good. U made the song your own. I know very little about drums, but it seems theres a little too much crash? I dont know. Good job anyways, u are an excellent drummer.

  • I think the palm on the snare is a good technique, it looks like it could help keep you on the beat.

  • Well, I usually do it for muting, I dunno why though. Weird habit I got into.

  • Nice drumming, dude! Take that tape off toms though =/ get moon jell

  • Tremendous job! You've got real talent. Some chops. Most drummers I know could not do that. Just keep your palm off the snare.

  • This is really good, one of the many good drummers out there doing an amazing song.

  • thanks for the positive feedback :)

  • Your the first drummer I've seen on youTube who has the right attitude to play a Rush song. You attacked your kit with confidence and precision. Not like the rest of these "clunk and thump" bozos who play Rush songs all relaxed and unfocused.

I was also blown away at the ending. You nailed it!

  • he played that shit the way it was ment to be played

  • I agree 100%, this is the only limelight drum cover i've seen on youtube that doesn't feel rushed or awkward.

  • dejate de mamadas pa que andas presumiendo si ya tokas asi pa ke chingados andas poniendo videos en youtube pendejo pontente a tokar con una banda bien pendejo pinche inseguro!!!!

  • the best copy of the drumer of rush ive ever seen

  • i think i read all the comments, so i have a Q.

What cymbals are they, Are they the paragons or not? its hard to tell.

B.T.W.-good drumming (also my fav Rush song), and right wing patriot can get blown up in iraq somewhere for being a dickhead.

  • hey dude, thats fucking amazing man. awesome job. your one solid drummer. I have been playing for 12 years and you sound better than me. awesome man, just awesome. Screw these other jack asses who say stupid shit. your good.

  • Great to be able to see a whole track played so bozos like me get an idea of how to do it

  • Nice job man, don t listen to the naysayers they are just jealous, you did awesome. And yes RUSH is the greatest band ever.

  • added to my favorites. Nice job!!

  • in a rush cover band also playing for 12 years sweet sweet job dude

  • tighten up that snare dude sounds horrible

  • Hey Nick, great video! How bout a tour of your drum kit?

Also did you take lessons when you were younger to develop your mechanics or just practice alot?

  • I made the little tour slide show. :)

I have been taking lessons since I was nine and I think it helps a lot. I also try focusing on perfect technique. But, yes, I did and still do practice a lot.

  • I dont think Rush is the best band ever, but you rule the drums on this one, dont sweat the faggots.

  • Great drumming! You are right on the mark. Keep up the good work and thanx for the excellent video...

  • Thank you Childsd. Besisdes, this is not even a very difficult song IMHO.

  • Ok, I'm not sure if this is a serious argument or not, but if you think he's speeding it up, look at the cymbals after he hits them. They move freely at a normal speed. Mystery solved.

  • best rush cover until now!

  • Screw these guys who say you're faking and that this is gay....

You're good, RUSH rocks. I'll be playing guitar for it at a gig in July.

  • rush sucks and you are gay

  • How that makes me gay.. I don't really know.

  • because you fuck men and listen to gay canadians

  • Dude don't listen to the jealous idiots. Keep on rockin'!

  • gp cut urself, emo

  • fuck you homo, listen to real American Patriotic music like Toby Keith!!!!

  • LOL.

metallica, iron maiden and rush own your gay music lol

  • fuck you!!!!! listen to Patriotic music that supports the troops!!!!

  • toby keith... bwahahaha

  • Try half a prozac next time...

  • Way to rip off Seinfeld yesterway

  • if you go to about 1:22 in the video, you hit the snare like twice, but its not heard in the video audio. is that cus you dont have ur drums miced or what? are the drums you hear in the audio just the drums from Rush or are they you?

  • Wow, strange. Never caught that before. Completely, you can hear my cymbals and hi-hat. My camera must not have picked it up because the hi-hat is downing it out. I dunno. But my drums are not miked and I can clearly tell you that audio of this song is not just from Rush. It would sound too crappy. Listen to the original.

  • im just curious to see if you recorded that in half time then sped it up to fit with the song, looks kinda fast for the human body movement, like jumping around and what not, if not then you did very well. but you still need a better singer for your band...

  • That would take longer time than anything to get that perfectly synced. I would never fake something. As with my Tom Sawyer video, I am not trying to fake my drums. I explain in my info.

  • great job...keep up the good work !

  • Awesome man! I like your progress. Can you do any Dream Theater?

  • Since this video I have improved already on the resting my hand thing. I knew it was bad, but just a habit that formed. I do play both trad and matched all the time as well.

  • ok that was good, but dont let that left hand be so lazy...like pick it up, it looks like you have a gimp arm...lik ei noticed during the solo u were doing alot of rim shots, those dont fit there lol...actually what will help with that left hand is if u play traditional grip, then u wont hit the rim anymore, and r left hand wont look so lazy;otherwise though that was awsome

  • dude, you're very good.. the one thing I have to say is something my drum teacher told me about 12 years ago. "Don't rest your left hand on your leg". You look kind of tall (I'm 6'4") I know it would be a lot of adjusting but It will help you.

  • You are Great what are you going to do with your talent. Are you in a band?

  • Yes, I am in a few bands: a rock band, two jazz combos and my high school jazz band.

  • wow....

    im 40

been playing that song since it was released..

    im speachless

  • Magnificent Job, with half the drums. You got talent.

  • Great job!

  • you are good, then why is your band sucks that much?

  • Thanks for the constructive criticism ... not

  • then y is ur band sucks so much? if ur gonna insult someone at least use good grammer,

  • SSaraNNicole: The insult came from some offshore dickweed with a crappy translation program

  • 6 out of 5 stars, great job. neil would be proud.

  • Good Job!!!!

  • Pal you are fantastic.

    You sound great.

  • good job,man!

  • holly shit man. you've masterd that song

  • all video's are exilent,,, who told you about rush?

  • My dad told me about Tom Sawyer when I was younger.

  • BRAVO...well done...

  • when you were rolling down the toms, you only hit 3, also you went back up, but all i can hear is you going down on the toms.. fishy, but all in all, good job

  • Be Proud young man - that was great.

  • that was wicked good

  • VERY VERY VERY NICE!!!

  • very nice job... and also i like the way your set is set up...

  • *points to all the other "My jaw dropped" comments* What they said. 16?! Just sick and wrong. Rock on dude.

  • Very well organized framefork of playing drum on this particular levely song. It is obvious that your performance is results of sparing countless hours on durmming, desire to play and natural talent. Well you are young and keep going on this way to the end.

  • nice job dude - that was awesome!

  • I had to watch it again it was that cool.

  • goddamn kid! that was perfect! keep up the good work!

  • sic vid

  • how old are you man? and do u live anywhere around Indy?

  • I am 16 and I live in South-eastern Wisconsin.

  • ...very impressive; this goes to my 'Favourites' under 'Rock n Roll', and, if you do 'Passage to Bangkok' and post it,(preferably to the live version that was on a B-side of a 45 back in the 80's), that's going to replace the version I have there now. Pursue your dreams, kid, good job.

  • Great job..keep the rush vids coming

  • I should have about eight more videos coming this week.

  • Great job man. I usually become frustrated and uninspired when I watch "amateur" vids but you are very good and have inspired me. Any drummer that inspires me is a good drummer on my part. Plus this is a great song so that makes it better doesn't it? :)

Again, great job. Keep up the good work.

  • Outstanding.

  • very nice Nick another killer vid. There's only one word to describe you man, amazing

  • Thanks, man!

  • This is by far my favorite Rush song..

You kind of remind me of the drummer from Switchfoot..

    But you're really good nontheless

I started working on Tom Sawyer today and got half through it

How long have you been playing?

  • About 7 years. Do you think I look like him or my playing style is similar? The thing about Tom Sawyer is endurance, for sure. Your hi-hat hand probably will be tired after that!

  • Ya.. I played the first half of it about 6 times.. my hand is wore out and my arm is killing me..

You look like him and you have very similar style (very loose, and percise) imo hes one of the better drummers today :)

  • Thank you. I appreciate it. I actually saw them in concert when they opened up for Green Day. Back then I was I think 13 and I loved them. I couldn't really see the drummer though, lol.

  • Great work guy!!! Bravo!!!!

  • Nice job nick

  • I'm a huge Rush fan and follower of Neil Peart's amazing abilities with percussion and you've got some real talent. Nice work.

  • well done sir
