Yes! The GTA series is better overall but it is very difficult in those games to have an extended pursuit with a single cop car in tow. The police AI in GTA is pretty poor really and relies on rapidly spawning new police cars and flinging them at you in order to pressurize you at higher wanted levels.
Exactly ! Moreover that I liked in Driver, was the police reaction when u are in infrigement. In GTA u can drive on the wrong way at high speed, go through a red light, police leave u alone...
I use a Sony Bravia now but this was actually filmed on an old standard widescreen Sanyo 24" TV! I've still got it knocking around somewhere - doubt it would fetch much money now in this new age of LCDs and plasmas lol!
I think it kind of wrote itself off really when it came flying over the bridge upside-down at 2:26! Quite HOW it managed to do that, I'm not really sure lol! :-D
None of the games make it clear as to when they were set, but I agree that the original is probably set in the early 70s and Driv3r in the time it was released (2004).
Driver 2 is trickier - personally I thought that it took place in the late 70s. Many of the cars that you drive (eg. the Challenger look-alike in Vegas) and many of the film references seen in the game (eg. the obvious homage to 'The French Connection' in the Chicago Train Pursuit mission) certainly seem to suggest this.
Parallel Lines was released in March 2006. The game itself is set in 1978 for the first half, then in 2006 in the latter half as the main character comes out of prison after 28 years seeking revenge on the gang who betrayed him.
It's a solid 8/10 game. Not as memorable as the PSOne classics but certainly miles better than Driv3r. The graphics were very decent, it had some great music and the story was brilliant, if a little short. I just wish that the on-foot sections were dropped altogether.
Driver 2 had two 80's version vehicles in Las Vegas, the ambulance and a PC. Driver 2 is in the 80's and DRIV3R was in the 90's so yep, the eras were right.
Yeah i tried to do a replay like this one but it's out of sync so i done a replay in Los Angeles on a highway which isn't bad so i will remake it and turn it into a awesome one.
I was laughing my ass off when the guy in yellow just sit when the car ram the table , and more when the guy say "don't worry we often have car chases in this neighbourhood" , lol , and also great shooting !
HAHA i remember this game bro..i was 9-10 when it came out now im 18 haha, I LOVED IT!!!
My step brother bought it for me (fell inlove with it)..
me and my friend Ashley loved cars and bikes and shit and being the first free rome car game you could imagine how much we played it. we could always find time for it wether it was between skating motor bike riding(yes i was riding motor bikes then haha)... and after this redictulously good game came out number 2 came out haha
I totally agree. In my opinion, GTA will always rule the 'sandbox' genre, and so if Reflections are going to make a Driver game for the current generation, they need to go back to what made the Driver series great in the first place ie. the car chases and the fantastic 70s setting and music.
Driver doesn't NEED the on-foot stuff - it just ends up in the same sub-GTA pile as Saint's Row, True Crime, The Getaway etc. Driver is a different game to GTA, and Reflections needs to realize this.
I'm pleased to inform you that the entire soundtrack for the original Driver PSOne game has been posted on YouTube! Search for 'Driver Miami Night Cop' and you should find the song you're looking for.
My thanks go to nerdmastermind for making these songs public. Great work man!
but they shud hav had the driver 2 cops in driver 1 and driver 1 cops in 2, cos d way is supposed 2 b dat a 2nd make of da game is supposed 2 be better
Absolutely! The original Driver is a gaming classic and laid the foundations for every free-roaming crime game we play today. There's always one. If you've got nothing positive or constructive to say, then don't bother. Your comment indeed defines the word 'worthless'.

what the song???
Muxoheavy 4 years ago
As far as I know, the song doesn't have a name. It was composed by Allister Brimble especially for the game.
Sounds great though, doesn't it?
csonicp 4 years ago
Because if the truth, no way to get it there?
Muxoheavy 4 years ago
Sadly, I haven't found anywhere on the Internet so far where you can legally download Driver's PSOne music; only the music from the PC version.

A penalty truth, it is a beautiful song :(
