Just so everyone who speaks Japanese here understands, this video is almost 3 years old. Of course there were mistakes considering I was a senior in high school. I've lived in Japan for 2 years since then and am much more improved than this, so please check the dates of the videos before telling me that I need improvement. I did and I have! As I learn japanese too I understood almost everything. The words she uses are not that dofficult.

About the content it is a bit light but I guess it was a great occasion to speak japanese. ;)

You can fill onigiri with various things and toppings too. I had to have a try but still didn't...

Japan is like the best country you guys ... when i grow up i want to marry a british guy( luv luv luv the accents guys keep it up ) and then move to japan( it seems sooooo cool0 or at least visit many times. I wish i still learned japanese i had to stop sadly at 5th grade bc my middle/high school does not have it(combined school) but i'm making onigiri very soon like this weekend !!!!!!

I think she said, "Onigiri ryou." Ryou means Finish, or complete. I learned that with My Japanese Coach! :D

no you put the salt in so the rice won't stick to the bag. As for fillings you can put in whatever you wish.

by the way, you really speak fluent in japanese!

Nishiki rice is my personal favorite, because the grain is short so the rice will be stickier. You can't really use basmati rice because it won't stay together.

So you can use Nishiki brand rice and it still works? How do you overcome the stickiness of the rice after cooking it? That's where I really get frustrated when I try to make Onigiri.

You're talking about when you're trying to roll the rice? Dip your hands in water and the rice won't stick to you. Sorry this was for a school project and we had very limited time in giving our instructions!
