I know already about Matrix, don't worry. I wasn't refering to Matrix... I just said that Gits is one of the most mature/realistic anime ever... ( with Cowboy Bebop ).
Anyway, Ghost in the Shell is an example of mature japanese ( I've seen Stand Alone Complex too... honestly, it is as mature as a serious american TV show ).
And this video rocks ! All about the soul in the body (well, artifical body in this case ), the ghost in the shell... There is a religious meaning in it.
If you are refering "as a serious american TV show" with matrix just to remind you Matrix stole story and design concepts from GITS and thats one reason why I never watched matrix.
I'm not trying to tell that one is better than the other... just that japanime is more diversified (about design, I think western animation can be as diversified as japanime). And in japanime, the theme of the story can be deep and/or disturbing ( western animation' stories seem to stick to soft subject *because if they make movies for children, they can't pick too harsh theme/subjects* ).
Well, I think a lot of western animation are mainly for children (it all began with Disney movies so I guess they influenced a lot western animation). Japanime is pretty different, you can find pretty mature movies/series or childish ones, serious or humoristic. And anime and manga are often focussed on emotion (read a manga and a western/french/belgian comic... you'll see the differencies).
fyi this is a different song than the actual one they use in that scene of the movie. I-making of the cyborg was used for that. But this is great by the way!
I don't know...Sylvain Chomet is pretty awesome, Pixar kicks ass with Ratatouille, and Ole Walter Disney started it all. And come on, Brad Bird is showing greatness in animation (and story, which, is rare nowadays) with The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and said Ratatouille! Buuuut, that's just my opinion. At least in western animation you get some diversity when all anime characters look the same.
could be a matter of perception... to me western animation all looks like the same dizny muv. japanime has unique style/diversity across genre, w/ many differences in style/character designs. take "Cowboy Bebop" and GITS for example, each one has its own individual style/character design, stemming from the different personalities of their creators, producers, artists and directors. and how bout "Chobits" ? thats greatly different from GITS too.
Knowing how some fans go...I thank you for not screaming at me :). You have me there on the difference of appearence. Honestly, there's something about anime that doesn't ring right with me...something that makes me uncomfortable when I watch it. It's like being given a new food which I have no clue how to eat ( with a fork, chopsticks, my hands?) I guess there are some folks, like me, who have had "Disney-moral-at-the-end-of-the-story" too far bred into them. *sigh*
in defense of japanime, sum of its full of deep human drama/emotion/social/moral undrcurrnts sumtimz enuf t make you wanna cry for the charactrs the stories draw you in deep. i can see how a neophyte might be turned off by the imagry in this particular clip, Motoko does look a little freaky when shes laying on the ground half-destroyed. A great anime with hugely moral story, awseome music, very likable characters is "Last Exile". maybe try givin that a go. Arigato! Jah! Mata ne!
Very nice.

@givmespace: Motoko IS a person but she is a complete cyborg i.e. the only human parts in her body are the brain and part of the spine.

Again it reminds me, SAC is only a mere shadow of the original movie.

I thought this song was called "Making of cyborg." from the first GITS movie, it is not the one from Innocence-"Making of android."
QuizblorgQuizblorg 4 years ago
This is the first ghost in the shell movie and I've always seen the song called Reincarnation. And from the sounds of it, the full song too.
Btw.
(person who put this up)
Thanks for making this, I enjoyed.
Ominee 4 years ago
there's three songs in this film that are very similar.
1. Making of a cyborg - that's the opening one
2. Ghost City - that's the part on the cannal boat
3. Reincarnation - i don't no what part of the film that song is in.
They're all different, but sutialy, like in this one they had the lone singer and the violins
Fattyrat 3 years ago
I think Reincarnation is the ending theme
in original Japanease version.
