  • Christmas morning, listening to KBCO and preparing things to bring to Denver for family Christmas get together -- and hearing this on the radio.... my first year living where I am now, I heard this song in KMART on Christmas eve and it was raining....... made me sad. I just had a good missing Colorado cry. Mr SJTier

  • Thanks for ths video clip. Nothing more I love then a great barn scene with a silo and with it snowing too. Beautiful and I love how happy the puppy's are too. Merry Christmas !!

  • Christmas Day 1910 was a Sunday like 2011. My Grandfather was a miner in Leadville at that time. Needles to say,my people are native Colordans. It is incredible what has happenned to that state, but for those of us who where lucky enough to be be born and raised in The Centennial State...THIS IS THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS SONG EVER!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm from Colorado. I had joined the marine corps this year and got stationed in Japan. its my first Christmas away from home. Thank you so much.

  • @Hambonee123 You're very welcome Hambonee! I now wish that I were out in Colorado right now so I could get some footage to post & share with you! Thank You for your sacrafices that you are giving for us back home! I can relate to the 1st Christmas away from home! I was just a teen then, I found out quick just what being homesick was all about! I wish you well on your journeys abroad! Wishing you a Merry Christmas & a Happy & better New Year to you! PS: Go Packers! *knudge, wink, grin*

  • i dont like colorado...but i have to live here -__-

  • @MrEnrager1337 Well, I'm not sure what your situation is ME, I wish things were better for you! I can sort of relate with you on not liking where I had to be at a certain time in my life. Me being the explorer that I am, I always found places that were out of the way to scout around to see what was in the area. That made for a lot of fun finding neat things to do & thus made it a more enjoyable place for me to be. Merry Christmas to you!

  • Really? This is Jimmy Ibotson? I would have sworn it was John Denver. Thanks for correcting me.

    Merry Christmas!

  • @TheShotgunridge Yup, Don't feel too bad about that! I tell ya, I've done that more than I care to think about over the years! LOL! Jimmy was part of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band when this song came out. Jimmy has that one of a kind iconic voices! I notice that he took his youtube channel down! Kind of sad, He had some realy good stuff on his here! Well, Either way,... God Bless Jimmy no matter where he is or what he's now doing!

Merry Christmas to you as well!

  • So blessed to live in Colorado! def my favorite Christmas song

  • @CAMATTOX1 One of my all time favorites as well!

  • Love the video! Couldn't help but notice there are 3 dislikes...Wow...how can you NOT love that song AND those dogs?!?!?? God help those 3 find the Christmas Spirit!

  • @tbland2000 Thank You tbland! Well, I think the least they could do is leave a note of why they didn't like it. Even if I were to get a thousand thumbs down,... I realy had a very enjoyable & priceless time with our pups & am glad that so many have enjoyed watching this one! I was also fortunate enough to have a brief chat in PM & on this video with Jimmy Ibotson who sung this song shortly after posting this video. I will always be grateful for that! He gave me the 1st thumbs up for this video!

  • Trapped here in upstate new York. Need snow and fresh pine. I want to go home

  • @cawsny LOL! Upstate New York is very beautiful as well! I take it that you have no snow over that way yet. We're still a bit green here too. I was last there back in June of 2008,... Can't help but love the Adriondac Mt. region!

  • My most favorite holiday song and how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful state! This is just what it's like today!

  • @bshigley Back in 2006 was my last time that I've been out there in Colorado! I'm definately a bit over due for another visit! You have such a beautiful state there!

  • This is my 13th Christmas in Colorado since moving here from California. The song couldn't be more appropo and accurate, and a Colorado Christmas could not be more magical and peaceful. Snow last night and more coming tomorrow. Wish you were here! Merry Colorado Christmas to you.

  • @coyeti Why thank you coyeti! I have been out in California durring the Christmas time in several different years. It's just not the same without the snow down in the LA area. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas as well this year!

  • This is a great song!

  • @meabhe77 I couldn't agree with you more! *wink*

  • So sweet, great fun had by dogs. Lead vocals-Mr. J Denver. Couldn't describe the Colorado lifestyle better.

  • @TheShotgunridge Actually that would be Mr. Jimmy Ibotson of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I'm not quite sure who had more fun,... Them,.. Or myself! LOL! Hey thanks for stopping by!

  • not a native of Co. but lived there eight years and have 3 children that are natives and they always loved playing on the quiet christmas mornin in the Co,snow....always reminded me of home...love nitty gritty and love Co....

  • @MrArcobasso I'm located in Wisconsin myself! But have been to Colorado many many times! It sure is a very beautiful state!

  • this is a great video..... to go with a great song! the girls look as if they are just having a ball! we've got two dachshunds..... i'm fairly certain they wouldn't like the snow quite as much! but, i truly enjoyed seeing this video.... thanks for sharing!

  • @smuilcin Thank You! Give it a try with your pups & the snow. You might be surprized! That's one thing about our pups! They would rather be out side in any weather! LOL! They seem to love the snow more than any seasonal weather. We adopted both of them. Abby, the bigger pup, We adopted at 6 months of age back in Jan. 2006. & Grace back in April 2009. She was a couple of years old. Thanks to ARF of Illinois, We were blessed to be able to adopt Grace! (aka: Sweet Pea / Iris)

  • how did you get this song? it's not on iTunes and i LOVE it so i really would love if you respond on how you got it:)

  • @mack6506 Now that you mention this, I can't recall off hand where I got this song from. I've had it for quite some time now. I'm guessing that I got it online from from Rhapsody or something like that.

  • @mack6506 I found it on Amazon!!!

  • @mack6506 It is on Amazon.com

  • @mack6506 I was sooo bummed when this wasn't on iTunes, but it's on Amazon for only a buck!!! I recommend getting it there because I did and now have the song on my iPod!! :D

  • CHRISTMAS IS CLOSE EVERYONE IN COLORADO CALL THIS IN TO EVERY COLORADO RADIO STATION! DO IT IT WILL BE AWSOME!

  • @bourneco Amen to that! *grin* I havn't heard this song on the radio in ages! I made several requests of this song to a radio station that Ilisten to durring the weekday mornings. I was informed that they don't have this song! UGH! This is a must to have in a collection!

  • @IntoWisOutdoors They must have gotten their act together and gotten it, because I heard this song on 12-15-11 (yesterday) on 106.3. Naturally, I fell in love, (I’m from Colorado) and had to memorize the lyrics so I could look it up.

“The closest thing to heaven on this planet anywhere,

Is a quiet Christmas morning, in the Colorado snow.”

(I’m not positive, but I think that’s my favorite part! :D)

    Merry Christmas!

  • being raised in Colorado and being a High Prairie Cowboy this song is a great tribute to the beauty of Colorado not only in the winter but all year around.

  • I love this. Thank you for the laughter, and wonderful memories it gave me.

  • @vickiscooby You're welcome Vicki! I'm glad to hear that it made your day! *wink, grin* Thank You for stopping by!

  • Great video, thanks!

  • Man I'm lucky to live in Colorado!!!!!!!

  • Look at those tails waggin the whole time... Beautiful! Makes me hate Florida even more. It's time to move out west I do believe. :-)

  • ♥ living in Colorado. best state ever besides California but Colorado beats that. Beautiful this song is the best

  • This is just adorable, I miss having a back yard, and this year have yet to see a snow storm in town, God, please bring snow to town, please?

  • @msheeon001 Where is Colorado Snow? It's just in the mountains!

  • I moved to Colorado in 1971 just before the Holidays. The night I arrived the snow was falling as i entered Colorado Springs and to see that was amazing. I lived in Colorado for 20 years and every Christmas morning I would go for a walk in the fresh crisp electric air of the Rocky mountains. I live now in Michigan and every time I hear this song my heart goes back to Colorado. This song is a gem.

  • Nice to see this again! lovely!

  • i can't imagine spending x-mas anywhere else :)

  • GREAT vid. Thanks

  • i can't wait to get home for my Colorado Christmas!

  • I live in colorado, and not all of colorado is this pretty! i think people forget that the denver metro area is just a big suburb... The only place you'll get a quiet colorado snowy christmas is out in the eastern plains or in the high rockies. I wish this is how it was though... makes me sad

  • Lived in Colorado all my life until now. Just now moved to California- That snow is something you miss for sure.

  • Love this video! Great Job!

  • @mtnlife Thank You mtnlife!

  • Just now checking back. I see a lot of the sentiment that I have about Colorado being such a great state to live in! Into, just went to Steamboat Springs a week ago for a couple of days. Wishing that I knew how to ski. Imagine living in Colorado and not being able to ski? That is on my list for next winter. Am going to go back to Steamboat Springs. Have been to Mt. Evans. The mountain is beautiful!

    How is your dad?

  • Thanks Ken for the great song and video. It contains three great things: The"Nitty Gritty Dirt Band" (and the great singing by Jimmy!), and the two Beagles Abby & Grace.

These have been sad months due to losing Rascal, but I see him run and play in Abby. And just now....All I'd have to say to him, is "You want to go walking?" and he would "spark up" like you would not believe! :) We would take a walk every day. Truly some friends: dogs or otherwise are meant to be!

    Jimmy get back in NGDB!

  • You're welcome Caddy! I'd truely be lost without our pups around! They're just like a couple of kids! Always getting into trouble in some way! LOL! I was outback splitting wood today. Grace strayed a bit too far! I had to track her down! Took me about 30 minutes to catch up with her! Tracked her Thru the thick underbrushed treelines with barbed wire etc. OMG!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss of Rascal!

I'm sure that everytime you go out for a walk now, He is right beside you in spirit!

  • So happy to be living in Colorado. Best state in the country.

  • You do have a very beautiful state there Les! I truely miss Colorado a lot! I'm a bit over due for another visit! LOL!

Actually, I've been to every state in our country. Each & every one of them have their own unigue scenery & lifestyles!

There is so much that I miss in visiting every state! What a beautiful country that we have don't we? Hey thanks for stopping by Les!

  • Was born in Colorado, left and lived somewhere else for most of my life then moved back a year ago, this song really warms my heart!

  • Wow! That's an interesting story Snick!

You've realy got yourselves a very beautiful state! I'm hoping to make it back out that way one more time later this year!

My Dad's health is fading slowly. Back in the late 80's early 90's. He use to work in Bryce, Zion, & the Grand Canyon Natl. Parks. I'm hoping to take him back there for one last visit & then on our return trip spend a few days in Colorado! He use to also work for TIC out of SteamBoat Springs CO.

  • Thank You Sis!

  • Loving that snow! Great job!

  • Thank You Alan!

  • Not as hot as myself though! Razz, knudge, wink, grin,LOL!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • Great job on the video too, the scenes were fun to watch even though I don't personally know the subjects, very professional

  • Thank You Kelly! This is probably my most fav. winter time type of song! If you'll watch the video that is a response to mine, This Gentleman (Jimmy) was the actual singer in this song! He is VERY good! Check out his channel as well!

He's got some very good videos posted!

Thank You again for your kind words Kelly!

  • Great song. I've seen these guys in person.

  • You betcha it is!

I've always wanted to see them in concert ever since I heard them sing Mr. Bojangles,....Gosh, I'm thinking the late 70's when I was just a young teen. But that never came to be! That's OK though, We've still got their great music to listen to while looking back & reminice of more fonder days of the past! Thank you for stopping by tab!

  • I love this song! I moved to CO in '03, and LOVE it here. I hope to stay here for the rest of my life! Heard this song for the first time last Christmas, and it really expresses my feelings for this beautiful place.

  • I've loved this song for many years! Back in 2001, My Wife's (then girl friend) horse had to be put down late on Christmas Eve! We tried everything, But it was too late! He was a very smart & special horse to everyone, There wasn't a dry eye amongst 20+ of us. Anyways, We didn't feel like celebrating Christmas on that evening. The next morning, I got in my Pickup truck to join everyone. This was the 1st song to come on the radio at 7am. It was special to hear this song at that time for me!

  • This is definitely a beautiful song. I just moved to Colorado a year ago October. It was a dream come true. I had come up for several visitis with family and just loved it. My husband and I both loved it. So, here we are! And it is the closest thing to heaven! How beautiful the mountains are when they have lost of snow on them!!

  • You betcha! Oh do I ever know what you mean by Heaven! I've been to Colorado many times! It's very beautiful! If you ever get the chance, Take the drive to the top of Mt. Evans & walk the last 100+ feet to the very top. OMG What a view! It's the highest paved roadway in NorthAmerica & It's actually higher than Pikes Peak! There is a website for Mt. Evans on the net. Thank You for stopping by!

  • sniffin for waabits

  • LOL! You got it! We've got one Mama Rabbit that lives on our property. On a couple of ocasions they were chasing her around our large Oak tree. It was so funny!

As they kept circling the tree, Before you knew it he rabbit was chasing the dogs!

They didn't realise that she was on their heels at 1st! OMG That was priceless!

I realy wish that I had gotten that on video!

Looking back, I still can't help but laugh!

  • You betcha! Actually, This is one of my all timer fav. winter time songs. Take a look at the video response for this video. From what I've learned, This gentleman was the actual singer of this song for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band! What a small world eh?

Check his video out! About half way thru his performance he starts playing the base drum etc. while he plays his guitar!

  • IntoWisOutdoors love the video mate. Reminds me of when i was a kid always dreamed of living in Colorado. Living in australia for a couple more years atm but when i return home i'd like to move to Colorado =) Anyhoo you and your family have a beautiful Christmas up there take care ;)

  • Thank You for stopping by Milispec!

I actually live in Wisconsin myself, But have been to Colorado dozens of times!

It's such a beautiful; state! Every time that I go there, I realy don't want to leave!

Good luck in your future dream of moving to Colorado! Have yourself a very Merry Christmas as well! God Bless!

  • Looking at this scene from the other side of the Pond, (Amsterdam) it's so beautiful !! ♥

  • I'm glad to hear that you enjoy these kinds of scenes! Thank You for stopping by & commenting! My Wife's family hosted a girl through AFS many years ago who lives in the Amsterdam area! She comes back here to visit from time to time. I've met her a couple of times. She showed us what it's like over there! You have a very beautiful area as well! I'm hoping to make it over there some day!

  • You are very welcome, in our old city. ;-)

  • lol @ them beagles, they always seem to be tracking something, or looking for something to track.

  • LOL! You betcha! It go's both ways with these two! In my firewood stockpile, I've got a couple of trunk sections that are hollowed out in various places. They would chase a chipmunk that would hide in the trunks. They are so funny! The chipmunk chatters back at them & then they'll do the same while biting at the trunk trying to get at chip! We've got a couple of rabbits, squirrels, & a big ole woodchuck that they try to find. They are so funny howling & yiping away!

  • Sorry Rancho! I missed this coment! They've always got their noses to the ground! Sometimes when I'm watching a TV show, Abby will come up to me & let out a faint whimper! If I ignore her. She'll give me a soft knudge with her nose! That means that she wants to go outside & have some fun! Then I'll tell her, "In a little bit" Then she'll lay at my feet or even cuddle up to me in the recliner, couch, or bed! LOL!

  • I really like this one. It is pleasent to watch and you really got me with the red barn in the middle. I like the puppy dog having fun in the snow.

  • Thank You Ronnieboy! I've always liked that barn scene as well! Grace, The smaller pup, We adopted her last April 09, Abby the bigger pup was adopted in late Jan. 06. We were very blessed to have them come inyto our lives! Our late Stacy & Buddy were adopted as well! Actually all four of them were blessed finds for us!

  • was this from this weeks snowstorm

  • You Betcha! We were told to stand down & take the day off,... So I decided to go outside with the pups & have fun! I'm not one to stay cooped up in the house! LOL!

  • yea, MDC did the same thing here, i was shoveling all day. grace really likes the snow

  • My coworker who contacts several of us. I was about to open the door to leave for work when he gave me the info over the two way radio. So I shut the car off & grabbed a shovel & went up on the roof. It was very heavy wet snow. Then I had to climb our 35' tower to get the ice & snow off of the antenas & reciever. Then the garage addition roof! Then it was play time with the pups! It was still dark out though! Very peaceful with no traffic going by!

  • wow you had to shovel top to bottom lol

  • I like to stay busy! I'm always doing something. I didn't lift weights on that day because I had enough exercise for the day! LOL!

  • lol i can tell

  • Another Nice video ken, Im sure they were happy to play in the snow LOL

  • Thank You Justin!

  • Anytime ken
