I think he's trying to help the 'experienced' welder / fabricator send out resumes... Not teaching... You cant become a TIG welder vie a book, or out of a cheap Home Depot machine... Good TIG or even good MIG machines start at $2500 and usually spending $7,000 for good water cooled TIG(that's what my shop uses).
the best cheapest and easiest way to learn how to weld is to buy a welding machine from lowes and practice at home. you can look up "how to weld" videos here on youtube that are pretty good. specialy the ones that are videod behind a dark welding glass cus u can actualy see what is being done behind the welding mask. plus they explain everything about welding :)
6G is a position that the pipe is in that allows you to qualify in flat, overhead, vertical and horizontal positions. The "G" stands for groove. There is also "F" positions that stands for fillet such as you would use primarily for plate and some pipe welds.
I am a welding inspector and former welder in the Nuclear industry. (I am actually at my desk at the nuke plant writing this)
This guys full of shit. I know welders can make 100k + but you can't teach someone how to weld via book
