Also, make sure you have an ipod "video."

Although good luck finding firmware. The site is gone.

Arguable to both sides. Zune has it's highlights, and so does iPod. Of course iPod users will say whatever they can to claim iPods are better, and so will Zune users. I'd say they both even out, iPods are super popular so there's a lot more options and compatibility for them, and Zune has a pretty sweet look, and features.

in iTunes, choose your ipod in the source bar (the thing on the left if you dont know what that is) There will be a button that says "restore ipod" or something similar. that will wipe everything from your ipod and then put your itunes library back on it. Don't worry, it won't delete your itunes library

If it has a flat black or white finish on the front, it is a 6th gen. The "Classic" is a 6 Gen. The ipod "Video" is a 5 or 5.5 gen

All you do is press "Upgrade" or "Restore" in iTunes. Whatever the one that doesn't delete all your music is.
