  • why dont they make movies about eating disorders anymore? I mean the ones from the 80s and 90s are fine but they should really make some new ones...

  • "Just put it in your face" hahaha might not be the best thing to say!

  • ya yelling at her and throwing the food is gonna help her and make her want to it. I know its hard on people who have a child or sibling or family member or friend who has an eating disorder, but it is 10 times harder on the person who has the eating disorder. You cant force them to get help or to eat or to not eat if they eat too much. They have to want help on there own or they wont ever stick with it and will just fall back to old habits. What you can do is help them to want to get help.

  • That much food under the bed, I'm surprised they ain't got ants or roaches!

  • "Just put it in your face." I laughed my butt off!!! (:

  • Gosslear is freaking hot.

  • Oh sure, yell at her. That'll help.

  • If I had a dime every time someone spoke to me the way Pat's talking to Nancy.

  • I'm surprised she hasn't tried to kill herself what with how her mom and brothers are SO insensitive to her

  • @MissPopeyes22 They're frustrated because they're worried. I don't know anyone who has had this illness in their life and not almost had their family relationships completely torn apart....

  • @Missyme2704 I have a friend whose mother has an ED. It's tearing him apart inside. He told me that he feels that she only loved his deceased father, and doesn't care about him, even though deep down he knows she does love him. It's like, "Why doesn't she get better for my sake? Doesn't she care that I need her?" His stepfather divorced her and said really nasty things about him. I think the death and divorce helped to trigger the ED (she'd been struggling with it for many years).

  • I absolutely hateeee what the mom said to the deli people. Her MOM is doing that. Her MOM watches her everyday, and watches her not eat. Her moms a bitch.

  • Tracey Gold is phenomenal in this movie. It's amazing the lengths anorexics will go to hide their condition. It is a horrible disease.

  • Her family and friends are so stupid. She is actually eating and they should support that.

Prehaps make non-fat soups, and don't bother her if she eats little amount. She IS eating and that means she's TRYING.

  • the acting in this movie is NOT good.

  • i must have serious issues, is it absolutly horrible that i want to be anorexic so i lose weight? this movie is a how to for me.

  • @TheAngela70294 You will never actually have an eating disorder you'll just be a stupid poser forever. I hate pro ana bitches like you.

  • @gorillian7 But that is exactly how my anorexia started. It is called thinspiration.

  • @TheAngela70294 I don´t think it works that way. You cannot get an ED just because you want to. When I had anorexia, I didn´t even realize I was sick. I remember getting so angry when I heard my classmates talk about me as anorexic. I´m not saying everybody´s like that, but I still think you can´t develop an ED on purpose. Like they said in the movie, not eating is a symptom, not the problem itself. Just copying the symptom doesn´t make you disordered.

  • @TheAngela70294 you don't want to be sick! Just try to eat healthy and the weight will come off (:

  • @TheAngela70294 plus not all ED sufferers are underweight.

  • never tell a girl with anorexia she gained 6 pounds...

  • The mom is such a cow.

  • That mom is whacko. Shes the one who needs to see a doctor.

  • Her parents are yelling at her because they are afraid. That is there child and they don't want her to die.

  • CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP? i have done a lot on research on anorexia but i still don't understand how they dont get hungry? i mean you must get hungry and lack energy and not be able to do stuff? dont they ever get such a crazy pain in their stomach they just need to eat?

  • @97nglamour exactly. I don't get it either. I tried to not eat food for a day and I did it, but I felt so sick. So the next day I ate. I don't get how people can swear off of food. I wish someone could explain.

  • @gemini850 umm, anorexics don't just stop eating, they start eating less and less, until they barely eat at all.

  • @97nglamour they do get hungry. their obsession to be thin and the constant voice in your head telling you that you're disgusting and fat just overrides that hunger. some like the pain, and see it as an achievement. it's not that they don't get hungry.

  • @97nglamour There is always hunger.100% of the time we are hungry. Researchers think that people who develop anorexia have a special tolerance to starvation in their genes. That gnawing hungry feeling in our stomachs just doesn't bother us as much as normal people.

  • @97nglamour trust me- you do get hungry. You just have to remind yourself why your doing it, that food is bad, and all that and it goes away. But it is better to eat at least one or to things a day. And the drive to lose weight or get thin keeps us walking, running, jumping, whatever exercise works. So basically, it's not that you don't get hungry, you just ignore it.

  • I hate the way everyone says "lyyyyyying" in this movie

  • I don't think I could ever begin to understand anorexia. I love food way too much to not eat it on purpose.

  • @icky8vicky me 2! i ate like 6 meals yesterday lol

  • why doesnt my doctor look that good?

  • WTF.. why would the dad be like that??? i understand it's frustrating but come on now....

  • Did the actor really lose that much weight just for this movie? This seems so much like my life was... I cried while watching this, my parents acted just like hers...

  • @EMOPOIKA666 She was actually recovering from anorexia while making this film. If anything, she was gaining weight.

  • @EMOPOIKA666 Tracy Gold/Nancy was actually anorexic in recovery while filming

  • I really wish the parents would have notice sooner. I mean her brother saying "Is that all your going to having." is beyond stupid That just means her NOT want to eat AGAIN!

  • Wow I can't believe her family is reacting to her ED this way. These outbursts only make her feel worse about herself. I hate when people think they understand the disorder when they know nothing :(

  • I just noticed it's taking them a really long time to build that coi pond...

  • They would never let a girl in 'Nancys' condition be able to leave treatment. She would be 'a harm to herself' and would have been committed on the spot. I totally felt her when she kept saying 'I want to eat but I can't'. Truly how it is. You're mind is gone.

  • @andwhoareyouagain She's leaving AMA, Against Medical Advice. By now you've seen that a court order is required for someone who is not in "immediate" danger to themselves. /rantaboutAmericanhealthcare

  • I don't get this part..they got pissed at her for eating a salad. Salad is good for you, would probably give her more nutrients than that crap her brother was trying to shove down her throat.

  • @amessycreation salad s great for people f normal weight but at 1 cup a salad has 5 calories, it wont do anything to help her gain weight or gain nutrients. A salad does nothing for people of that low of weight, thats why she was eating it. It was a "safe" food because it's barely anything at all.

  • "I've gained six pounds - I'm better" ... if it was only that easy

  • Finds food under the bed-- What are you up to??

    You're- You're not smart

  • 9:35 hate music...

  • lol so far, with the amount of character development that has been shown to the audience concerning the father, that sudden outburst with the lettuce was totally uncalled for. for the first hour of the movie he's Mister Nice-Guy who loves everyone, and then all of a sudden The Psychopathic Lunatic with Anger-management problems? Yeah right!

  • @36770sam I think he was bottling up his emotions for most of the movie and then it all just came out.

  • I can't believe how her family is treating her! poor poor nancy :(

  • I really hope that AMerica has a Mental Health Act by now. Here in England a docor can make you stay in hospital. i'm glad about that xxxx

  • @Alaurahpinder1990 Hmm that makes me curious. i'm from america and i don't know if we have that. That's a good idea, though! I don't think we do....

  • @Alaurahpinder1990 Im pretty sure we don't have that. I was in the Eating disorder program at a hospital (i wasnt anorexic or anything, i just had to gain weight) and the people in the program under 18 had to wear electronic bracelets that shut off the elevators when we got too close to them. everyone over 18 didnt get one because they were technically adults and the hospital couldn't keep them there.

  • @spaghettilover100 we do have it. i know from experience :S im 21 now but this was when i was 19. they wouldn't let me leave as i was going to die if i did xxxx

  • @Alaurahpinder1990 A doctor can commit a person to a mental health facility if they believe the person to be incompetent or a danger to themselves or others. It depends on the case.

  • heheh

    "God let it rip"

Why am I laughing so much???

  • @GreenOrangeBlack bc it's funny...let it rip!

  • "Dont think about it, just put it in your face." lol yeah its just that easy.

  • her mum is a huge bitch

  • for someone with an ED, nancy is really stupid about hiding food. who on earth hides food underneath the bed??!! who would risk it?? there's always the toilet or a trash can far from home.

  • nancy's not the one telling all the lies about how much better she is. it's ana. she takes over and makes you do terrible things to yourself

  • they can eat. they dont want to.

  • @Bittersweet21222 have you ever had an ED? obviously not or you'd never say something that stupid. you don't understand what it's like to have a constant war going on in your head. you don't get what it's like to feel horrible after just eating a little bit or to cry because you want to eat so badly but your brain won't let you. anorexia is a disease. don't hate on the people who have something you don't know anything about. it takes constant support to get over it and many never completely do.

  • @xxxfantasyhorse i didn't hate on them. I do have an ED, just not anorexia.

  • zack morris <3

  • "don't think about it, just put it in your face" "you can, you're just being stubborn"

gosh i hate that kind of attitude, like it was that easy... i know a few people who are like that in real life. oh well, i can't blame them, how could they know?

  • Why is everyone in this movie named Tom or Tommy?

  • wow... I feel really sorry for her... And her family isn't helping at all. Nobody understands how it is if they never had it themselves to some sort of degree.....

  • Wow the brother and the dad they don't get it she wants to eat but she can't if she tried the anorexia would stop her I've never had an Ed but I've read about it and stuff if u people like this movie u should read the book "winter girls " it's a really good book search it on wikipedia

  • The brother just doesn't get it. It's not like she can just start eating, even if it is something she loves. And the dad shouldn't have yelled at her when she was attempting to eat at least something. Leafy greens are good for you--definitely better than the dessert! Also, when her friend made the remark that she looked great, it reinforced her belief that she wasn't sick and that she was better. Her family should be more supportive and understand that she is not being "annoying," she is sick.

  • @HououMinamino yeah but imagine if nancy was your sister, psh i wouldve screamed at nancy and forced the food down her mouth. they dont know how to deal with nancy, its understanding that they would get annoyed withb her

  • @HououMinamino Agreed, leafy greens are good for you and eating them is a start. It would make her sick to eat junk food after starving for that amount of time.

  • lmfao " your a bag of bones"

  • @CherryBomb076

i guess u have never suffered from this disease and i hope u never do. it is horrible and i would not wish it on my owrst enemy

  • @1978angiepooh lol no im bulimic ,,, it sucks ,,, it was more of an inside joke ,,,

  • @CherryBomb076

Sorry if I offended you. I thought you were making fun of the disease. Once again I am sorry.

  • i want nancy's nose

  • I wud snuff nancy

  • lier lier your a bitch on fire

  • her dad is such a douche...

  • Mom takes her out....Then goes be a bitch to the poor doctor -.-

  • her brothers are hot!

  • @Siri1616 yeah but it seems like the blonde one is in love with her or something..but still so hot

  • it's so true that it seems like you don't have control over your brain anymore

  • the mom looks anorexic too.

  • i have anorexia. i know how she feels.

  • I was really happy at first I thought she was scooping all that out for her :(

  • Her brother is right, though. She CAN eat. It's just real real real real real hard. But she can.

(I'm anorexic myself btw, so I'm not talking about something I don't know of.)

  • To realize the hell she is putting everyone else through even she doesnt mean to their is no way she doesn't realize she has a problem

  • She's fucking retarded I've had problems with anorexia in my teens but honestly it's all about will power even if u have problems or a complex n seek out control theirs always that moment when u snap and realize ur killing yourself little by little n instead of Babying her like everyone is doing id pull out some pictures of ppl who died from anorexia n pics of what it does to u internally garente that will wake her up I honestly think she is completely ignorant of all around her

  • @Luna19Mestiza You're comment makes you sound like a little immature brat by calling her "fucking retarded". You need to grow up and realize that everyone handles things differently then others.

  • why the fuck did the mother take her back home when her progress had been so minimal, I mean 6 pounds, big friggen deal, the mom is enabling her to get worse and nancy can't fool anyone .SHE IS NOT BETTER

  • @mandybarr80 Nancy signed herself out. She's 18 she can't be forced to stay there

  • i feel reallly bad for nancy but the thing is, anyone who doesn't have anorexia doesn't understand it..i didn't ever have anorexia (lol i eat a ton) but i understand that you really don't have a choice for whether you want to do something or not.. it's too bad that her family can't be more understanding, but i'm sure its hard on them too.. to watch someoone you love grow skinnier and skinnier, it's hard to believe them when they tell you they are eating.. aii.. this is a sad movie!

  • @f1yh1gh10 yeah i get what you mean. I'm not anorexic, or at least i think i'm not, but i have these random "moments" (it lasts for like 2 weeks only and then i go back to normal but then i feel guilty when i eat) where i just don't eat. it's been happening for 3 years.. i don't know what it is but yeah. i understand that it must be so hard for nancy. to feel that way all the time.. and her family...man what a sad movie

  • i feel reallly bad for nancy but the thing is, anyone who doesn't have anorexia doesn't understand is..i didn't ever have anorexia (lol i eat a ton) but i understand that you really don't have a choice for whether you want to do something or not.. it's too bad that her family can't be more understanding, but i'm sure its hard on them too.. to watch someoone you love grow skinnier and skinnier, it's hard to believe them when they tell you they are eating.. aii.. this is a sad movie!

  • geee... why are they trying to feed her with sweets, cakes and fat stuff? ? no wonder she refuses to eat that. they should start with "safe" foods- like apples, veggies or light jogurts and slowly add some different but definitely healthy- not junk- food. ugh.. poor Nancy

  • I wouldn't have believed her either!!! She has been lieing!

  • At least they realize that something is wrong.

Even after being told my family never did anything.

In fact even after I finished treatment they forgot about it and commented about how I was letting myself go by gaining weight.

:/ so no family is perfect.

  • @unsweeteneddoll That seems awful... I'm sorry :(

  • The twitching and clenching her yes shut was really realistic, add in some rocking back and forth and you have disordered little me. lol

  • I feel so bad for her her family is acting like jerks because they dont udnerstand they're scared and hurting and they dont know hwo to help her. It was similar when I was self injuring and I went into rehab for scuicide and when I was diagnosed as bipolar my family made it worse at times but ony because they didn't understand or know what to do it still sucks though >_<

  • @LaMiaRinascita i hope you're well now (: xo

  • goodness she sucks at hiding her food

  • @kkokuma I thought the same thing, why didn't she flush it like the food at the beginning of the movie. A bit crazy to hide it under the bed!

  • @kkokuma I know.. especially taking all the food off the plate.. that is too suspicious.. maybe take half or 2/3 of it... but not all of it!

  • There is a way she can go back to treatment, they just don't think of it yet. I totally crack up when she says im better, it's impossible to believe.Yes she had the right to check herself out of treatment, but her mom didnt have to drive her.

  • that girl had a lot of nerve saying those last words to nancy "well you don't have to worry about it.." referring to how skinny she was and the dessert in front of her. for someone she hadnt seen so long that was a rude way to approach an old acquaintance . weight is a personal issue and unless you know someone very well, you should not mention it to someone.

  • i really just wannna tie her to a chair and shove some burgers down her throat... her mom and eevryone soo worried about her :/ and she just wont eat :( i dont know how she feels... like why she cant eat.. i dont know how it feels to have anorexia but i understand that its hard soo i shouldnt be judging her :/ and i know shes trying, what her dad did was rude.. shes trying to eat . :/
  • she can't fool her mother or anyone else, she is worse from before she went in

  • i wish someone tells me "you're wasting away, you are a bag of bones" is that what the dad said to Nancy? (because my hearing of English is not always right)

  • @Rayon18able thats what he said

  • @JESSsuckItTV thank you, lol i heard correctly! I love watching movies on youtube! :))

  • @Rayon18able me too, and i hope you get better, i am sure you are beautiful, inside and out:)

  • @ the two that were bickering then made up randomly: wow haha.. :) good movie.. Kinda makes me hungry/ feel like a major fat kid,

  • At 7:25, that looks like City Square Mall in Vancouver. A small but nice shopping center.

  • How are they supposed to know she doesn't eat at home? Her mother just freaks out like an idiot.

I really hate the mother character. She wants to blame everyone around Nancy.

  • and i dont think the dad was that harsh...its called tuff love ...snap the eff out of it....while anorexia may be a disease it doesnt mean that it can not be mastered...its the same as drug addiction, any addiction, any disease...with sum will power you can master it...its not easy but it can b done...

  • as a naturally thin woman i jus dont understand....im disgusted...ive been a size one sumtimes 2 my whole life and I cant wait until I start gaining weight...who in there right mind would wanna be skin and bones....there's a difference between a naturally thin healthy person and sumone who is anorexic...i jus dont get this anrexic thing at all...I jus wanna smack the bullshit out of nancy

  • @laconteau You have it right. You do not get "this anrexic thing...".

  • Wow the dad and brothers don't help any

  • Heh, half the people think the family is treating her like shit and the other half thinks Nancy is just being annoying...I think everyone needs to understand, the family is trying, they don't understand and they're doing what they can. But also, Nancy isn't driving them nuts on purpose, anorexia is a really hard illness to overcome, she truly just can't eat.

  • @ingeloveswobbly - thank you for saying that. I'm glad someone did.

  • @ingeloveswobbly I agree. They don't understand. Her dad shouldn't have yelled at her when she was putting the lettuce into the bowl. He's wrong. Lettuce isn't "nothing." It is something, especially if it is romaine or another kind of greener lettuce. It's packed with nutrients. At least it would be a start for her. It's the same with the macaroni. Maybe she was intending to eat it, but wanted, or needed, to start small. I am not an anorexic nor have ever been, but that is just my take on it.

  • I see where everyone's coming from about not yelling at Nancy, but in the same breath it can't be easy on the family either. They just want her to get better and they're frustrated because there's nothing they can do about it.

  • the moment my mom says "You're lying" like that to me will be the exact moment i shit my pants.

  • everyone is trying to help her, i mean i would get pissed off too if she doesnt accept help.

  • I wanted to punch her father in the face whe he shouted at her. Seriously I felt violent.

  • people people, listen up, if you were nancy's mom would you yell at her or simply "talk to her"? nancy is driving everyone crazy! ya the mom was involved in nancy becoming anorexic but nancy isnt talking to anyone why shes doing it! i would yell at nancy in my opinion

  • Oh god, the poor girl. I'm surprised that one day she doesn't just snap....

  • why doesn't she just throw the food out?

  • wow everyone treats her like a piece of shit!

  • god that mom is a fucking bitch

  • she looks younger the thinner she gets...

  • "Don't think about it, just put it in your face" ahahahhaa

  • @cappa8 LOLL!!!

  • The Mum may have also had a Mum who was self obsessed, it goes on and on. The Mum may have a bipolar condition, or a depression that has gone unrecognised, but with anorexia it shows on the surface because a person gets thinner – depression can be hidden more easily. Trouble is, we’re expected to be adults when we hit 18, but no one ever really grows up completely. Self obsessed is too simplistic a word to describe either person.

  • I hate how they made her say 'I promise' and stuff like that so fucking often!!!

Ring ring - Cliche calling! -.-

  • Yelling at her will not work, but talking to her will not work either. Anorexics know they could die, but they just cannot help not eating. They are just so used not to that their body will not stand food. They need professional help. And they need to be forced to accept professional help, because they do not want help either. Parents think they can help them, but that's not true.

  • The actress who played the mom died a few weeks ago from cancer. She was in her 60's.

  • HOLY SHIT the dad just scared me when he threw the bowl.

  • the dad always looks like he's smiling. that's annoying.

  • her mom is crazy

  • The mom acts like it's the restaurants fault that she's not eating. It's probably the damn mother's fault, look how psychotic she is.

  • @ktar007

its not the mothers fault she's not eating. Its the sick mind of Nancy, she wants control. Anorexics are psychical not healthy, its never anyones fault

  • Well attacking her at every chance you get isn't going to make the situation any better.. nor is "treatment". Leave the girl, alone and try some compassion for a change.

  • I'm not anorexic but everything I eat makes me feel guilty. I have to struggle just to feel okay about eating. I have dreams of not eating! I'm scaring the crap out of myself. Also, these movies are so typical. The parents are ding bats. The doctors are dingbats. You've seen an anorexic movie once, you've seen em all.

  • Do they all really think that yelling at her will make her eat?

  • I personally do think it's partly the mom's fault...she's overbearing and tries to make all her decisions for her--the prom dress, the dentist, the dorm room...etc.

  • I love her brothers. Mine was the one who called me fat.

  • @Fast2Shadows mine called me fat too, and my dad. men are just lovely arent they!?

  • @xXnataliexX2617 Haha no doubt :) It is sad- that family, something that is to be a natural support system, is often at the route of anorexia and also a lot of bad self image issues. I'd rather be hit with fists than with words by the people I loved.

  • @Fast2Shadows Well said :( and i totally agree with you.

  • @Fast2Shadows Emotional scars take a lot longer to heal if ever.

  • i feel bad that her brother yelled at her like that. and her dad threw the bowl and yelled at her..that makes everything worse.and when people tell you to eat, it makes you want to eat less. when people used to yell at me, it made me feel guilty, like i needed to have a punishment, less eating. :/

  • @LuluLiefdeHaat Oh my goodness her brother was really misunderstanding her that's sad. Those doctors should have told her family how to talk to her that what they did to mine.

  • eww shes not a good actor ! Bah Lame !

  • i can't eat either. it's hard to eat when you haven't been. it doesn't hepl wehn people shove food in your face...

  • @iheartsjonas is true but if u cant eat dont eat i was like real thin nd then i start to eat again nd i put lots of weight again :( try to keep skinny !

  • @RubnBritney believe me, i am. and i'm not skinny yet....

  • Comment removed

  • @Rizoto88 i hope your parents bought u a helmet u back water trash. sorry i cannot know how dumb fucktards feel, maybe you can explain.

  • am i the only one who gets hungry at the part where she takes the mac n cheese out of the oven? boy what determination.
