thank you so much for this video! i was recently asked to shoot an event with another guy who has a FX-1 (and i have a 5DmkII) and i have been scratching my head over how i can possibly edit together the footage from both cameras for the client without them noticing the difference. a mentor adviced me to not hide the difference and even try to make them look more different, but i'm not sure if that's how i want to do this. any suggestion will be appreciated!
@heatypetey That's tricky. They look a lot different. I do it, but I don't do it in a situation where I'm cutting back and forth between the two. That would look obvious to me, but maybe not to a client that doesn't have the eye for it. Hope this helps.
@ReelSpotliteTV Sounds like an issue with FCP. I use a PC with Premiere and I don't have problems capturing unless my settings on my camera are set wrong. For example if I'm capturing HDV but the camera is set only to play DV. But I don't think that is your problem here.
Also FWIW I'm going to be getting the Panasonic GH2 for my video needs. It's also an SLR but does a more true 1080P than the 5d mark II. You should check it out.
Thank you for the footage, especially liked the low light shots, was hooked on a sony ex1 or so video camera but i can see this is the way to go. Did you happen to upload this to vimeo? they seem to have much better HD than youtube.
@Deanzsyclone I was an early adopter of the 5d2 in October 08, which actually immersed me in video production, which I now do for a living. It was 2 years later that I bought an ex1. I can say with a fair amount of authority that the ex1 is the better CAMERA. 5D offers one singular feature--narrow DOF--that makes it remarkable. That's why I own both. 5D for shallow creative pick-ups and tilt shift. EX1 for EVERYTHING else.
@athfrulz1 Ha, wow old post of mine. I just bought the NEX FS 100, it was the camera that took care of a couple of my concerns, glad I held out, I LOVE this thing.
I don't particularly like the shallow depth of field, sometimes when watching film it's nice to have both foreground and background focused.

why didn't you shoot dynamic scenes or footage from moving camera for comparing? It could show the difference more accurate ))))
