  • I started to scream SANCTUARY for some unknown reason

  • This is perhaps the most liked video in entire Youtube.

  • Ok this is SOOOO EPIC! I WANNA FUCK SOMETHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Such an awesome song, to bad it started sucking after 6.01 oh well nothing is perfect.

  • Alan Menken for president!

  • I love how both top comments are by the same guy XD

  • O.O FREAKING GOOSEBUMPS. EVERY TIME.

Honestly, if any Disney movie deserves a 3D reboot, it's Hunchback. o.o If it was stunning in 2D, it will be ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING in 3D!

  • @disturbedotaku123 If you ask me, they should do the entire Disney Renaissance in 3D. I'd go see every single one of them.

  • @disturbedotaku123 I totally agree with you. I wonder what people would say about it if that were the case.

  • Frollo disliked this

  • Ahhh, back when Disney actually cared about the work more than the profit... or at least they cared about the effort. Profit will ALWAYS be at the forefront of any business's mind.

  • @TrueGamer181 Disney once commented about his movie Fantasia which was not a smash when it first came out. "I haven't made any money on it but I'm not sorry I made it."

  • @schizoidboy Well, see, that's good attitude. I think ALL movie-makers nowadays ONLY care about money. Some movies are still good, but I'm becoming increasingly disappointed at the theater, not just with animated movies, but all of them.

  • @TrueGamer181 I personally agree with you. The Disney company seems more inclined to look for the next marketing product that won't scare the children then writing something meaningful. They forgot brilliant writing will always create the popularity but that seems to have fallen by the wayside.

  • Awesomeness!

And crap, my dad found this vid...

  • At one of the climaxes of the choir listen CLOSELY, and you can hear the chimes doing triplets underneath UNF it's glorious.

  • 0:50 - 1:10 ~ gooseflesh

  • Quasimodo! <3

  • No words can describe how epic this song is! Alan Menken is a genius!

  • @mattgieslerrocks he's like the tarkovsky of our generation.

  • Fuck YEAH!

  • I don't know I am more of a fan of the "Bells of Notre Dame."

  • Even at age 19 this song is still epic as hell.

  • 2:09 - 3:07 *falls on knees, tears streaming*

  • @BattyKellen Me too ... this music is utterly majestic, in every sense of the word ...

  • BLOODY HELL, THAT FELT GOOD!!!!!!

  • Saw this yesterday for the first time since I last saw it 15 years. It held up. IT HELD UP GREAT.

  • *mind explodes*

  • SAAAAAAAAAAAANUTUARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    *cheers*

  • Can someone tell what they're singing? It's awesome!

  • Search on Google for Libera Me Hunchback

  • @almostinsane99 Judex crederis esse venturus In te, Domine, speravi Non confundar in aeternum Salvum fac populum tuum Judex crederis Libera me Domine de morte aeterna In die illa tremenda Quando caeli movendi sunt Dum veneris judicare O, salutaris hostia Quae caeli pandis ostium Da robur, fer auxilium Sit sempiterna gloria Sit sempiterna gloria Sit sempiterna gloria Gloria, gloria semper Sanctus, sanctus in excelsis Mors stupebit et natura Cum resurget creatura

  • damn if this is wasnt the peak of disney Renaissance! it had all barrel's blazing:animation, music, voice acting everything was running full bore with this movie! something only pixar does but only at a cost of $200 million dollars! and this was done for $70 million

  • 5:28 the choir sings "QUASIMODO''

    just me?

  • @TheLastFacePalm i heard it too XD

  • You can't beat a chorus singing latin in a minor key.

  • @JesusFreak1701 :TRUESTORY:

  • @JesusFreak1701 Fuck yeaaaah

  • It starts getting epic at 1:40 :')

  • 2:46

    SANCTUARY!

    SANCTUARY!

    SANCTUARY!

  • @kauverify2 i believe that it says "GLORIA", but I can be wrong XD

  • @00713425 You're correct. They're singing "Gloria" which means of course "glory"

  • @00713425

It probably does say Gloria, but I was referencing it as what Quasimodo says after he swings back up to the top of Notre Dame and holds Esmirelda over his head after rescuing her from the flames. =P I re-watched the film just the other day, haha.

  • @kauverify2 wops XD I don't know what does Quasimodo says in that moment, in italian he says "DIRITTO DI ASILO" XD

  • @00713425

    Oh! Very cool! I'm American, so I've only seen the English version. ^^;

  • @kauverify2 If I remember rightly, he says sanctuary three times :)

  • 2:09 to 3:08 to me is the best epic, orchestral, choir music moment ever. i can just picture quasi yelling NOOO and ringing the cathedral apart and getting a rope and rescuing esmerelda and finally yelling out SANCTUARY from the top of his lungs on the bell tower! :D

  • What the... at 0:10 they say communist!!!

  • @JesusFreak1701 I believe they said Dominus. I'm not sure though. Latin's hard to understand phonetically. It does sound like it, doesn't it?

  • @JesusFreak1701 Lol. The phrase is, "In te, Domine, speravi" meaning "In You, Lord, have I trusted."

  • I think this soundtrack is the best one to any Disney film. It's just gorgeous.

  • Phoebus: you alright sir?

Frollo: yes. Just a little trouble with the fireplace last night.

  • this one person has been accused of disliking the video!the sentence?DEATH!

  • If I ever end up doing something as Amazing as what happens at this point in the movie, I want this music to be playing while I do it.

  • only frollo dislikes a song like this ;p

  • THE ORGAN! THE CHOIR! THE ORCHESTRA! THE SHEER WALL OF SOUND!!!!! *breaks down and sobs*

  • this is not a popular one.

but i chose this for one of my best disney selections.

  • Satan disliked this

  • Sometimes this music sounds a bit like Prince of Egypt.

  • for everyone who hasnt read the book: everyone dies by the end.

  • I don't think Frollo would be so evil if he knew Clopin had a puppet of him.

  • I understand the latin lyrics haha. :)

  • This movie would make such an awesome musical! I would pay to go see it if they ever did one!

  • @TheWiseGuy784 They did make a musical of it. I think it was in Germany though, and I don't think they still perform it. T.T

  • Such a good soundtrack. This song/scene has always given me chills, even when I was little. So awesome!

  • This piece is an example of what Disney did right. Although askew of the real story (and missing one of my favorite characters) this is one of the most adult stories Disney ever took on. And its my absolute favorite!

  • This entire piece is filled with unearthly beauty, but 2:41-3:06 is made of pure EPIC!!!!!!

    "Sanctuary! Sanctuary! Sanctuary!"

    We <3 you, Quasimodo!

For all the things they changed in the movie to make it more kid-friendly, and even though they could have made a better trailer for it, all in all, I think Victor Hugo would be proud of the Disney version, especially this beautifully emotional score. Bravo, Alan Menken,

  • @ybehc Me: (if i was her) id rather DIE than be with YOU....Frollo >:\ (spits in his face)

  • I BET FROLLO DISLIKED THIS!

  • Such a powerful soundtrack! O.O

  • Dangit, I think I blew my speakers.

  • I'm glad Esmerelda didnt have to die, she was my fav disney character and such a sweetheart <3

  • @345juanita IVE ALWAYS WANTED MY SCHOOL TO DO THIS PLAY! i love her so much i look a little like her and we both got the same personality ive always wanted to play as her!! i even memorised her song :o

  • @345juanita in the real story she got hanged :( quasi blamed frollo for her death and he went out to search for her body. he found it in the rest of the bone piles on top of a hill and stayed there till HE died. when men came to bury quasi's remains, they picked up his bones, but they went into dust O.O oh and in the real story, phoebus was more of a jerk than a charming soldier -.-'' and frollo practically raped her when he paralyzed her in her room. but luckily quasi stopped that right on time

  • @Heylilvelvet I heard about it! I was amazed at how freakin evil it was. It seems like every disney movie was originally a sad and evil story :( Yeah i love esmerelda. Shes gorgeous :)

  • As always - GREAT JOB ALAN MENKEN!

  • @leaderofstarclan Can you provide a translation?

  • I remember, when I was 6 year old girl, and watching this... My cousin same age as me didn´t get one thing about this scene, but I always watched this with intense passion... It´s really great, that children could learn about different cultures, musics, art and history from Disney. Too bad, that Disney don´t make something like this anymore... (And as great as Tangled was, it´s still a computer animation... :/)

  • @Snofey1 just be thankful that they even made tangled...its the best thing disneys done since the 90´s,but yeah everyone wishes they went back to the old disney i thinkkc :/

  • @Snofey1 2:56-2:57 Anyone else have an orgasm?

  • @Snofey1 Princess and the Frog was full of beautiful Louisiana charm, French Quarter architecture, and was all hand-drawn with beautifully painted backgrounds....

  • @rohirrim11rider Of course. But I haven´t seen that movie, so that´s why I didn´t mention it :3

  • @rohirrim11rider I liked Princess and the Frog, wouldn't exactly put it on a scale with Pocahontas or Hunchback, (or any other Disney renaissance film, for that matter) but it was better than Tangled (although Tangled was very cute and pretty good) it was actually better than a lot Disney put out in the last decade. I loved the animation and the music :))

  • i love the soundreack for this movie because its just so intense!

  • Loving the reprise of 'Out There' at 1:10 :D

  • God! This is so epic!

  • Okay is it just me or does it sound like they are saying "Florida" around 2:43 O.O? lol

Man Alan Menken really outdid himself with this one!!! This soundtrack is definitely one of my greatest Disney favorites.

  • @Violia17 In fact, it's "Gloria!"

  • @POLE7645 Really? I need to get my ears checked then O.o

  • @Violia17 haha ur not alone i heard it too xDD

  • 1:49 Absolutely EPIC moment.

With the "Libera me Domine!" (Free me, Lord) and at the same time Quasimodo yells out "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" and he starts pulling at the chains, making the whole cathedral tremble.

    Absolutely Epic!

  • @videosearcherwhenbor You know what would make the best fan collectibles for this movie?

A- A booklet, with ornate decorations on front of course, with all the Latin lyrics and their meanings inside.

B- if they released those little statues Quasi whittles up in his belltower!

  • @videosearcherwhenbor 2:20 is also a very epic moment! :D you dont know the lyrics to this song or where i can find it? :)

  • damn if this isnt the greatest [if not darkest] Disney Renaissance movie ever! awesome music by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz stunning animation a villain that makes others look like kidsplay and a plot that is just sooooo good! THIS is what disney should be doing! not the pixilated half-dead characters that the suits call ''disney magic'' nor music thats more pop then actual orchastration that the suits also call 'disney magic'' damn how disney is degrading FAST!

  • "Is it supposed to work like that?" *BAM!!!*

    "Works for me!!!"

    haha

  • THE FRIKKIN CHOIR KILLS ME <3333

  • This song fits so many scenes...

  • epic!

  • Covered in goosebumps! This is so amazing

  • Cont: May you be praised. Glory, Glory forever. Holy, Holy in the highest. Death and nature shall be confounded. When creation shall rise again. To answer for judgement. Therefore, when the judge will take his seat. Nothing shall remain unpunished. To what protecter shall I appear when scarely the just man shall be secure? Righteous judge of vengeance. Before the day of reckoning. Lord have mercy.

  • English: Our judge we believe shall come. In you O lord have I trusted. Let me not be damned for eternity. Save your people. In our judge we believe. Free Me lord. Free Me lord from everlasting death. On that terrible day when the heavens shall be moved. The heavens and Earth. When though shall come and judge the world. Oh Savior, saving victim. Who opens the gates of Heaven. Our enemies besiege us.Give us strength. Bring us Aid. May you always be praised. May you always be praised.

  • 1:40 - 3:12

    Awe-inspiring!

  • this is like half lord of the rings and half assassins creed

  • @penguinati0n

I think it fits Lord of the Rings more. xD

  • @penguinati0n Music is more like Lord of the Rings, actual scene is more like Assassin's Creed.

  • i can hear the words banging in my head and the scene flashing in front of my eyes... i got chills even without them on this video...

  • Can someone write down for me the lyrics in Latin? please

  • @sebuniversidad - I found the lyrics on the internet. :)

    Bella premunt hostilia

    Da robur, fer auxilium

    Sit sempiterna gloria

    Sit sempiterna gloria

    Sit sempiterna gloria

    Gloria, gloria semper

  • @sebuniversidad 2:57 and onwards. Sanctus, sanctus in excelsis Mors stupebit et natura Cum resurget creatura Judicanti responsurra Judex ergo cum sedebit Nil inultum remanebit Quem patronum rogaturus Cum vix justus sit securus? Juste Judex ultionis Ante diem rationis Kyrie Eleison Hope that helped. :)
  • @Water3Monkey THANK YOU!! :D

  • I remember wanting this movie...my parents got me the sequel -_-...that was a dissapointment.

  • it is amazing, but kinda dark for a kids movie

  • I personally think this scene is the greatest piece of animation North America has ever created. It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. This movie came out when I was around 13 and it's is still my favorite Disney movie to this day.

  • 4:28 - 4:34

    *Airplane noise*

    *Machine gun*

  • Ohmygosh this song makes the movie. It's so epic and it gives me never ending chills.

  • This is my favourite Disney film... Best soundtrack aswell I think :)

  • amazing soundtrack love it ! :D

  • Men ken rage for the win!

  • One of the best disney movies ever!! And long live Alan Menken!!

  • I guess this song is the reason why Frollo would never be in Kingdom Hearts, poor Sephy would be jealous of this BGM

  • @meki4life lol that is so true but he is going to be in the next one.

  • @meki4life I'm reeeeaaalllly hoping they do the movie's soundtrack justice in Dream Drop Distance. It's just too epic to mess up. @v@

  • At 2:56

    Me: *stands up* SANCTUARY!!! SANCTUARY!!!!

    *awkward silence*

Me: O.O" eh....sorry. *sits back down*

  • @Violia17 I used to have a really big doll that was taller than me. It was thin, but floppy. I would stand on my chest of toys, hold it over my head and yell "SANCTUARY!!!" at the top of my lungs.

  • @RoseGirl1192 lol :D That's just adorable.

  • @RoseGirl1192 Awesome. I'm pretty sure my barbies totally reenacted this scene. Oh on a similar note, did you ever hold your cat up while standing on a couch? I'm pretty sure there's a whole generation of cats that hates the Lion King because of that haha.

  • @Violia17 ROFL XD *stands you back up* SANCTUARY!!! SANCTUARY!!

  • WHEN PEOPLE TYPE IN CAPS, I NOTICE I CAN GET PEOPLE TO READ MY MESSAGE AS WELL.

  • clearly Frollo doesnt like the sound of his downfall

  • Am I the only one who thinks that 2:00 onward sounds like Spyro soundtrack?

  • @TheWhyteRayven to me it sounds like a thousand ships of the underworld by two steps from hell. This would be two steps from hell's genre.

  • Frollo disliked this :P

  • THIS COULD MAKE GOING TO THE BATHROOM SOUND EPIC!!!

  • Lol. I was just sitting in my house conducting the last minute or so of this song, then my dad walks in and starts giving me funnly looks. I am sure he would understand better if i didnt have my headphones in.

  • Comment removed

  • that 1 person is Frollo

  • It's sort of hard to understand, but is this song in latin?

  • @AnimeNatako Yes it is.

  • Looks like Frollo's got wifi in the fiery pit...

  • 1 person can't handle the epicness.

  • Perfect song to lose your virginity to

  • @GetOneInTheYarbles Marvin Gaye is better for that, still a great song though.

  • 2:22 - 3:09 and 5:26 - 6:01 = ear/eyegasm

  • I love this film so much - as a child, it made my life. My plush Quasimodo came everywhere with me :P

But I have to say, what I remember most about this scene is the gargoyle sending forward the birds to attack.

    "FLYYY MY PRETTIES AHAHAHAHA!!!"

    :D

  • @londongirlhannah HAHAHA YEAH!! lol I just remembered that!! hehe!

  • @londongirlhannah I LOVE that part. I'd quote stuff like that so much it annoys my sister and gets stuck in her head. And it's my LITTLE sister that's telling me I'm annoying. lol it's so fun and hilarious though.

  • 1:50 - 3:10 Anyone else hoping for this in a boss battle with Frollo? :D

  • @EggplantPopolopolis you me kingdom hearts

  • I can almost hear Quasi shout "SANCUTARY!" in my head. Best shot of the movie.

  • i cut the last 15 seconds of this with titanic dome breaking scene. it was cool.

  • This is good, but I still like the Prince of Egypt's soundtrack better.

Ahh the rift between Disney and Dreamwork....

  • @adriana308 to me, Pixar, Disney (real disney) and Dreamworks are the best for all ages. :)

  • my fav part was 0:01-6:01

  • this is the music that played when i typed up my college paper the same day that it was due. >.>

  • This is the best Disney movie. It has a soundtrack that ranges from funny to heartwarming to epic, not to mention amazing animation, a great plot, a badass villain, and a good message. Disney was taking a lot of chances with this one, but adapted a fairly adult book into a movie for kids, but with adult themes, too, so it's good for kids and adults. Even though the ending is altered, Victor Hugo would be proud.

    ...........

Oh yeah, the sequel. That can go burn in hell with Frollo.

  • @timeparadox888 and those risks, never taken again...

  • @timeparadox888 i agree with everything you said except for "good message". Sorry Quasimodo, at the end of the day, we just can't have you contaminating the gene pool, even if you're devoted and awesome.
