I detect a gap where the mustach attaches to the lowar half of the goatee. It seems like he has full, ungapped growth so there shouldn't be a gap. But then again, the gap was there before he used the saver, probably as a result of a mistake he had made prior to using the saver. Thus, he should have grown in a full beard before using the saver and THAT would be the true test as to whether or not the thing works.
