  • shelf filler track, just to complete the album

  • The part that starts at 2:06 is one of the most beautiful parts I've ever heard. This album is such a treasure, much more mature with regards to musicianship and scoring than Moving Pictures by far (in my opinion, better too).

  • I've got this album somewhere but haven't listened to it in years. I always liked this song but forgot just how much until I just stumbled across it here. Thanks for posting it !!!

  • MAPUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • i see no red in the like/dislike bar :)

  • nananannnnnanana... 2:07

  • Oingo Boingo meets Rush in this track

  • Easily the most underrated 80's Rush song.

Actually, a lot of Rush's 80's material is criminally overlooked. It's a shame, because that was my favorite era of Rush.

  • One of the most underrated and innovative Rush songs. The Soviets are the BLUES

  • Awesome jazzy rock song. Neil peart's drums are great. Shades of red.

  • What do we have here? A combination of Big Band stylings, the Space Race ( going much further along ), e.e. cummingsesque lyrics, and plenty allusions to the color RED. What a bangup job!

  • I hate how underrated Grace Under Pressure is

  • It's not even close. This is by far THE best tune on the album! Best when listened to LOUD!!!!!!

  • @kozzzzer yeah, but the solo on Kid Gloves is even more awesome.

  • Neil's best work.

  • one of their best. love it.

  • This is GREAT WORK from Rush, from the 90's!

  • @ghodges123 This song came out in 1984.

  • 0 DONT LIKE THIS ONE. IT SEEMS THERE ARE NO DEAFS IN HERE

  • Damn!

    Love it to death

  • I may have seen it yesterday but I stopped reading and watching TV.

  • communists as just capitalists who flashed and fled and retributed

  • This is my least favorite on this album. Between the wheels is the best followed by Distant Early Warning and The Body Electric.

  • @2112Metal

I think this is one of the better tracks on this album; Rush *almost* getting their groove on. ;) I'm also especially fond of Enemy Within and Kid Gloves.

  • definitely a sweet song from a killer album. The first Rush album I ever bought.

  • Hello Mestopholies : " Greetings & Felicitations " . Welcome to a Brave New World .

  • " Hello , Mestopholies ! "

  • Notice the " EYE " in the sky ; on the the cover of the album .

  • i love the album. if i were rush i would do the whole album like they did for moving pictures

  • 2:07 - 3:21

  • LOOK CLOSELY, AT THE ALBUM COVER ! AT THE TOP MIDDLE CENTER,

YOU SHALL SEE THE FACE OF " MESTOPHOLIES "

  • Geddy inspired me to pick up bass....these 3 guys do more than 10 bands put together....and the lyrics are super intelligent!!!!

  • @DRpretorius39 I agree!

  • rush, Renaissance Band. you can apply them to almost any topic of conversation, as long as the song fits the subject matter. i see red too ~~

  • Such an interesting song, so much going on. Love the bass in the outro

  • I see Red.

  • The bass rocks in this

  • smoke up and JAM

  • @Pillowshade ... bang.~~

  • ' The national midnight star, it's true!!' LMAO.......

  • something that i read remembered remargined from remarketing from two suns in 2010 the Pulse the power outage that lasted about a year or 100 who knows when time machine stopped, hell froze over, Saints Wons Superbowl, Brutus plays Hockey Theme. Later GeFilters.

  • wish I could see the on stage rear projection screen film shown on the G.U.P. tour in 1984

  • The drumming on this song is. . . is. . . just f*cking amazing. . . unbelievable.

I'd like to see Portnoy attempt this. . .

  • @Cash2112 Actually, it sounds a lot like a Phil Collins/Genesis song. I bet Mr. Collins can play it like nothing.

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr You mean Phil Collins the sappy pop ballad wanker?

  • @Cash2112 I mean the Phil Collins whose dark side he so well displayed while playing many, many years with Genesis.

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr I believe his lighter side has overwhelmed his darker side since 1985, over 25 years already. . .

  • @Cash2112 Fine, but you can't deny he's a hell of a drummer, and 2) The instrumental parts of Red Lenses sound like a post Gabriel Genesis song.

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr I gotta admit, you're bloody well right; I can't deny you of your Phil Collins\post-Gabriel Genesis wet dream. . . So this is what true man-love looks like. . . Well, go ahead, what are you waiting for? Crank some "Duke", choke the chicken and hit the ceiling . . . knock yourself out man, it'll do you some good.

  • @Cash2112 Excuse me, but that's "Duke's Travels". Thank you.

  • @Cash2112 LOL....Oh,be nice!!!....

  • GuP and PW are masterpieces and It's sad how people dislike them simply because of the keyboards. In my opinion, the keyboards create a more melodic feeling to the music and add a even more unique tone. I think it's incredible that Rush has been able to change their music throughout the decades and still hang on to the majority of their fan base.

  • Light years beyond all the pop music bullshit of the time (Twisted Sister, WASP, Quiet Riot, etc). Sure, GUP was humourless like most Rush music, but these are serious musicians to be taken seriously by those looking for more than passing fads. If Rush weren't serious about their music, how could they have lasted for decades?!

  • @gorillabelly1 ,Twisted Sister,Quiet Riot,WASP,etc. were hard rockers and paid their dues...

  • luv this somg

  • There they come

  • i'm shocked Rush is still around. i never hear on modern rock stations. there mostly played on classic rock stations ( i live in rush country in ontario too!). i thought this band died out in the 80's!

  • @MeYouView get real.

  • "It's the color of your heartbeat / A rising summer sun / A battle lost or won...

"Red / Inside my head / I'm sure it's something that I left unsaid / Red / I'm thinking about the overhead, the underfed / Couldn't we talk about something else instead?"

  • Unbelieveable Band..... sounds perfect!!! Beautiful:3 individuals being themselves...

  • I get the feeling that if I were to listen to this album when I was just a small kid, it would have scared the shit out of me.

  • The Soviets are the blues.

  • technically it is grace under pressure, not pressure over grace

  • Hey people, that was 2 years ago. I know i fucked up.

  • @GordonYYZ lmao G. cheers and love this song!

  • Yes Gordon, but....you fessed up. Fessing up is the first step in recovery :) You're forgiven, move on :)

  • @GordonYYZ Gord you know how these Rush fans are..lol... good job

  • I love this song...FUCK liberals!

  • @redwonder

Neil Peart would be slightly liberal himself. This song is more about the paranoia and over-talking about Soviet Russia back in the cold war. Apparently this song was inspired by the contents of the national mdnght star that Neil read one day.

  • @redwonder Why does listening to Rush have to turn into bashing people's political beliefs?

  • @fassman316 don't let it go there guys. I'm probably older than you all, lived alot of it , live so to speak. Don't let ugliness try to eclipse the shine of the wonder that is RUSH. This is the best song to set up between the wheels

  • SLIPS BETWEEN THE ALPACA'S LIKE OIL

  • Rush ginger fan

  • that break from 3:16 --3:31 is pretty gnarly....

  • I don't know about you guys, but if I start to see red, I think getting to a hospital would be my top priority.

  • Excellent single

  • p/g = grace under pressure

  • probably their last best effort before they goi too "popy" still a bit weaker than Signals

  • I love this tune!

  • nicey and icy, it's the colour of your headache

  • This album is very special to me . Its Autographed by all three.

It looks awesome hanging in my room!!!!!!!!!

  • @Cyonide9 My God I envy you so much kkkk. How did you get the autographs, my dream is they assigned my Power Windows album

P.S: I would like all my albums where signed but I would pick my Power Windows

  • the bass tone is kinda similar to the first album (listen to here again and you'll hear what i mean)

  • What color do you get when a posted comment rating is in the negative?

  • Red!!! And it hurts my head!

  • seriously classic tune...thanx gordon! peace

  • This song is so enjoyable; Makes me wanna play the song on bass all the time I hear it ^ ^

Such an underated song sadly... : (

  • @YetAnotherMovie89 Yup, one of the best groove oriented tunes they ever did...very underrated.

Hoping this is one they pull out for this year's tour. Stoked about The Camera Eye being on the playlist. Would be great to hear this, Body Electric, and a few other relics as well.

    -j

  • @YetAnotherMovie89 Yes my brother. I get my fretless Rick out at the end of this song (some of Geddy's funkiest bass) and get slappy.

  • @YetAnotherMovie89 I totally agree! It was waaaaay ahead of its time. No one wrote anything like this during that time.

  • a pair of dancing shoes, the soviets are the blues.......Red! the original hoopaloop loves Rush! check out hoopaloop better than cornhole or horseshoes mang. jah forever.!

  • I love Rush ,ive listened to them forever they are just the best.

  • People do try to cover Rush, and some bands even play it correctly note for note. But in the end it still doesn't sound like

    Rush.

  • We've got Mars on the horizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • says the National Midnight Star

  • It's true

  • What you believe is what you are.

  • It's true.

  • Couldn't we talk about something else instead.

  • I see RED.

  • cause nobody can make it sound any good, most cover songs sucks. the only band that i have heard do good cover songs is great white, tesla, avenged sevenfold, metallica, megadeth, ozzy, and a couple of more but i can't think of them at the moment.

  • The Foo Fighters do okay with some Rush songs but its hard to listen to covers of any Rush songs....you expect the real deal and get bad covers instead. These guys are too unique to do justice, I heard the tribute album and some group did "Temples of Syrinx" and it was the worst cover ever...some shouldn't even try.

  • perfect song.

  • I see red, nationwide, John McCain in a landslide victory!

  • omg, witty

  • LOL....that works.

  • I guess must be something i'm smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GUP is one of my fav albums. Red Lenses is an awesome song! Thanks!!!

  • another great p/g song

  • Don't you mean GUP.

  • refer 2 my other comment

  • no it is abbv. p/g. i just looked it up on wikipedia

  • @GordonYYZ no, it's p/g. The g is under the p, so grace under pressure.

  • @GordonYYZ

It is well known that p/g is a shrt term of Grace Under Pressure

    Check Wikipedia

  • @GordonYYZ No P/G is right.

  • @GordonYYZ PRESSURE OVER GRACE 2 GRACE, ICY

  • @GordonYYZ P/G refers to Grace UNDER Pressure

  • @GordonYYZ Look at the middle of the right side on the album cover. P/G. Grace UNDER Pressure.

  • @GordonYYZ -- p/g. The g, the grace, is under the p, pressure. As if they're a fraction.

  • p

    g

  • @GordonYYZ p/g is G under P

  • @GordonYYZ

P/G Is actually the correct abbreviation. It's G under P.

  • @GordonYYZ / indicates over, and pressure over grace would be equivalent to grace under pressure.
