The part that starts at 2:06 is one of the most beautiful parts I've ever heard. This album is such a treasure, much more mature with regards to musicianship and scoring than Moving Pictures by far (in my opinion, better too).
I've got this album somewhere but haven't listened to it in years. I always liked this song but forgot just how much until I just stumbled across it here. Thanks for posting it !!!
What do we have here? A combination of Big Band stylings, the Space Race ( going much further along ), e.e. cummingsesque lyrics, and plenty allusions to the color RED. What a bangup job!
I think this is one of the better tracks on this album; Rush *almost* getting their groove on. ;) I'm also especially fond of Enemy Within and Kid Gloves.
something that i read remembered remargined from remarketing from two suns in 2010 the Pulse the power outage that lasted about a year or 100 who knows when time machine stopped, hell froze over, Saints Wons Superbowl, Brutus plays Hockey Theme. Later GeFilters.
@PhilistineTheArtLuvr I gotta admit, you're bloody well right; I can't deny you of your Phil Collins\post-Gabriel Genesis wet dream. . . So this is what true man-love looks like. . . Well, go ahead, what are you waiting for? Crank some "Duke", choke the chicken and hit the ceiling . . . knock yourself out man, it'll do you some good.
GuP and PW are masterpieces and It's sad how people dislike them simply because of the keyboards. In my opinion, the keyboards create a more melodic feeling to the music and add a even more unique tone. I think it's incredible that Rush has been able to change their music throughout the decades and still hang on to the majority of their fan base.
Light years beyond all the pop music bullshit of the time (Twisted Sister, WASP, Quiet Riot, etc). Sure, GUP was humourless like most Rush music, but these are serious musicians to be taken seriously by those looking for more than passing fads. If Rush weren't serious about their music, how could they have lasted for decades?!
i'm shocked Rush is still around. i never hear on modern rock stations. there mostly played on classic rock stations ( i live in rush country in ontario too!). i thought this band died out in the 80's!
"It's the color of your heartbeat / A rising summer sun / A battle lost or won...
"Red / Inside my head / I'm sure it's something that I left unsaid / Red / I'm thinking about the overhead, the underfed / Couldn't we talk about something else instead?"
Neil Peart would be slightly liberal himself. This song is more about the paranoia and over-talking about Soviet Russia back in the cold war. Apparently this song was inspired by the contents of the national mdnght star that Neil read one day.
@fassman316 don't let it go there guys. I'm probably older than you all, lived alot of it , live so to speak. Don't let ugliness try to eclipse the shine of the wonder that is RUSH. This is the best song to set up between the wheels
@YetAnotherMovie89 Yup, one of the best groove oriented tunes they ever did...very underrated.
Hoping this is one they pull out for this year's tour. Stoked about The Camera Eye being on the playlist. Would be great to hear this, Body Electric, and a few other relics as well.
a pair of dancing shoes, the soviets are the blues.......Red! the original hoopaloop loves Rush! check out hoopaloop better than cornhole or horseshoes mang. jah forever.!
cause nobody can make it sound any good, most cover songs sucks. the only band that i have heard do good cover songs is great white, tesla, avenged sevenfold, metallica, megadeth, ozzy, and a couple of more but i can't think of them at the moment.
The Foo Fighters do okay with some Rush songs but its hard to listen to covers of any Rush songs....you expect the real deal and get bad covers instead. These guys are too unique to do justice, I heard the tribute album and some group did "Temples of Syrinx" and it was the worst cover ever...some shouldn't even try.

Easily the most underrated 80's Rush song.
Actually, a lot of Rush's 80's material is criminally overlooked. It's a shame, because that was my favorite era of Rush.
