First, I want to thank for your time and effort and i always appreciate that.
Secondly, i've been watching many tutorial on youtube, you are the only 1 that i subscribe. You are a great tutor, modest, and great voice. Your tutorials fit well for both beginners and advances.
Once more time, thank you very much and keep up good work!
Dear Gavin, could you do some tutorial about creating logo on photos? I would like sign my pictures in original way but i don't have any ideas... Thanks!
simply splendid Gavin! Now I can do my own projects using triptych. Thank you again for yet another simple but dramatic tutorial! Great projects. Great Humor. You bring Photoshop to a whole new light - "Un-intimidating" and Fun! Am a fan!
I have ton's of leave in my back yard so I will try to do this one I can use it like Fall Portrait's cards or something is beautiful thank so so much I learned so much with you!
Im having a problem on the "stoke part" of this video tutorial... I was trying to blend the layer's inner strokes in the background using Overlay but nothing happened, the inner stokes stays the same, it stays black... But the other Blending Modes worked, the Color, Saturation, Hue, Exclusion, Difference, Lighten Color, Linear Dodge, Color Dodge, Screen, and Lighten. I picked Lighten since that it has the closest effect to what I saw in this video but I'm not sure if that was ok or not.
Great video tutorial. Keep up the good work Gavin. You never cease to inspire me. I made my own version of your leaves just after I had seen your video.
Impressive what you can do with a couple of very simple pictures. Terrific tutorial as usual. You are very good at explaining things, so that even a noob like me (and a non native english speaker) can understand it. Thank you.
I'm very impressed! I learned so much! I had to go back and watch various parts again, because it's so new to me. And I'll probably need to check back in the future. But for sure, there was a lot of stuff I never knew that you showed me in this video.
I wish Adobe would see fit to reintroduce being able to cycle through blend modes on the Mac version again. No idea why they changed it, it's amazingly annoying. They do the same in Illustrator too for going through fonts. Again, you used to be able to do it with the cursors, but no longer. You can still do it in Photoshop and InDesign though, so why they're inconsistent here I have no idea!
On a related note, I love the result, Gavin, though I'd have maybe reduced the opacity on the top a tad.
@reptedjess That's the great thing with Photoshop, there's many ways to achieve essentially the same result, just depends on what you feel more comfortable doing.
When you add the warm adjustment layer, you point out that the "stroke" reflects the warmed background. Why does this happen as the stroke you set was inside the images.
@hmfc6543 Beacuse the stoke blending mode relects the colour of the layers bleow. So at first the stroke was grey because the texture was grey. Then it was warm as the background texture was warmed in colour.
Now that's showing off - answering that quickly. Thanks. I would have thought that the Overlay blend on the stroke - as it was "Inside" - would only have applied to the layer below, and not to all below
@hmfc6543 Think I've just worked out why its not what I expected. Am I right that a stroke added as a layer effect behaves differently in this respect to a layer added via Edit> Stroke?
Gavin - I can't explain with words how much I appreciate your videos, They are by far the most informative I have seen in regards to the topics you teach us. If you had a seminar in my area (Boston Ma, USA) I'm certain I would attend. Thank you, thank you thank you. Keep up the great and incredibly informative work. PS your photos rock as well.
you may also 'copy layer style' and paste in onto the other selected layers at once. rightclick on the layer's effects brings up the options do do that.
Gavin is there a way for you to make a tutorial how to resize my photo in printable form without cropping anything? usually 8x10 pretty much crop my composition? is there a workaround on that? thanks and more power!!!
@MrMackan240 There are two video about shooting & editing IR photos on my YouTube channel. A search for "IR photography" should help you find them I think it was week 67.

Why not use a layer mask on the color burn layer?
reptedjess 4 months ago
@reptedjess I'm guessing it's because Gavin set the colour range of the brush to only effect midtones.
If you use a layer mask, it will mask all of them I think.
grandmasterj5 4 months ago
@reptedjess That's the great thing with Photoshop, there's many ways to achieve essentially the same result, just depends on what you feel more comfortable doing.

@TalesOfWar A clipping mask is non-destructive though
reptedjess 4 months ago
@reptedjess Doesn't matter if you have no intention of changing it later lol.
